  • Are there still people who won't buy a DVD or other home viewing system?

I remember, back when VCR's were the main home viewing option, that I would encounter people who liked movies well enough, and had a disposable income to buy electronics, but refused to buy a VCR or consider seeing movies in any other capacity except in a theater. I'm wondering, with the availability of DVD players for next to nothing, and the various streaming options which are also (mostly) affordable, if there are still people (again, who enjoy going to movies and have disposable incomes to spend on entertainment) who refuse to buy any kind of home viewing system whatsoever. If such people still roam among us, I'm curious to hear some penetrating psychiatric analyses of these individuals.

  • Why are some people still not found on the web?

I've always been curious that, after nearly twenty years of mainstream usage of the internet by virtually everyone, some people cannot be found by Google or on Facebook or any other search.

  • Is Korea Town in LA a good location for hotel stay?

I'm considering staying at a hotel - actually a "luxury hostel" with individual rooms instead of dorms - in Korea Town in LA that has pretty good nightly rates. Since I'm not familiar with that area, I just want to make sure it's reasonably crime free (I don't care about noise or traffic, just about not getting robbed!).

  • Cheap, safe hotels/motels in LA?

I'm going to LA for a few days and could use recommendations for cheap ($50-$80 a night) hotels and motels in either the Wilshire, Sunset or West Hollywood areas of the city. Any place where the plumbing is reliable and the crime rate and bed bug infestation rate is low would be ideal!

  • Elevator music cover of Beatles' Revolution 9?

There have been elevator music covers of nearly all the songs in the Beatles catalogue. One I've always been curious about is Revolution 9 - is that capable of being set to orchestration by a shlocky, old-person's band? According to Wikipedia, there have been covers of Revolution 9 by Marilyn Manson and Phish, but how about the old farts who entertain us in the supermarket and doctor's office?

  • Who else hates the ads where the waitress yells "security!"?

I find these ads on par with the ones featuring Flo the Progressive Lady and the Geico Lizard: annoying as hell and on every god damn commercial break! Anybody else share my pain?

  • Facebook won't let me post anymore. Why?

I did use the "f-word" in my last post, but only in quoting another person, not directed at anyone else. Did I break an obscenity rule in Facebook?

  • What happened to Jump the Shark?

I went to www.jumptheshark.com for the first time in a long time, and got the website for TV Guide. What's going on? How can one of the most popular websites, whose title has become a part of the national lexicon, just vanish?

  • Social Network Income System: make money through Twitter, etc. Rip-off or for real?

I got an e-mail (unsolicited) about an opportunity to make $500 a month using social networking sites like Twitter, MySpace and Facebook. Normally I disregard these work-at-home offers, but this sounded like it might - just might - have some merit. Anybody have experience with Social Network Income System? Here's the link that was in the e-mail:

  • Can you submit a 1040 form with 1099's?

I have a 1099 for the first time this year, and am not sure if I submit it, as well as my W-2's, with my 1040. Or is there a seperate form that you're supposed to submit with 1099's?

  • How did Ted Haggard handle his meth habit?

I admit I've never tried meth, but I have to assume it leaves a powerful hangover. So, I wonder, with all the meth that Ted Haggard took while he was seeing Mike Jones and other guys, how did he manage to be fresh as a daisy the next day for his anti-gay sermons?

  • Did Bush ever say anything about the movie "W?"?

I figure since he must be the first President to have a movie made about him and his Administration while he was still in office, he would have something to say about it (not necessarily intelligent). Same goes for Cheney and the rest of them, about the way they were portrayed in the movie.

  • What would Elvis be doing if he were alive today?

His 74th birthday just took place. What would he be doing if he somehow survived all those drugs and deep-fried banana-and-peanut-butter sandwiches?

  • Can strip club shows be compared to minstrel shows?

That's what I heard a guy say on a radio interview the other day. In his opinion, what women performers do at strip clubs is comparable to what African-American and white performers in blackface used to do in minstrel shows in the early part of the 20th century. Obviously, he was talking about banning strip clubs, not bringing back minstrel shows.

  • What's the secret to Blagojevic's hair?

It's obviously not a rug, and it's definitely the one thing he's been good at maintaining. This is important because hair care is an essential way to pass time in the joint.

  • Are mystery shopping services all scams?

I recently responded to a newspaper ad seeking mystery shoppers. The company, Zenith Consulting, sent back a form e-mail a few days later with details on the job and a request for confirmation of address, phone number, etc. I haven't responded yet whether or not I'll take them up on the job. In fact, I won't respond till I know whether or not Zenith Consulting is a scam operation or if all mystery shopping services are scams. Anybody out there work for Zenith or any of these other outfits?

  • Is Sarah Palin truly a "bresh of freth air?"?

That's how McCain described her in the last debate. I hope someone out there has designed t-shirts with that as her new campaign logo. Failing that, I gotta assume there are shirts with that phrase, alongside a picture of McCain decked out for the stylish occupation he might pursue after he loses this election!

  • When do you think McCain will give his concession speech?

My guess is 9 am Wednesday morning, the day after election day. McCain's a tough old buzzard, and he's going to wait until he finds out that as many African-American people as possible have been prevented from going to the polls before giving up.
