Computer wont start!?
A month after upgrading my motherboard and cpu from my system, my psu (apevia 500w) starts smelling funny and eventually shuts down suddenly and won't start back up. I then replaced it with another psu, apevia 700w. Since then, my computer keeps crashing unexpectedly with blinking power light, around 7 minutes after boot pressing the power button and reset button doesn't do anything. I'm forced to turn off the psu and turn it back on. Even then I can't turn on my pc right after fliping the power switch because the pc would light up for a split second and blackout. I have to wait about 10 seconds and then the power button will work. Still crashes 7 minutes after boot though :( system specs:
Msi 970A-g45
HIS hd 6790
Amd phenom x6 1055
8gb ram adata
8gb ram gskill ares
Sandisk ssd
Seagate baracuda
All these components were tested and working except the psu and the motherboard which is where I believe the problem lies, help please?
5 AnswersDesktops7 years agoIs a 500w Power supply enough?
I'm upgrading my aging computer (4 years) and decided to buy myself a AMD Phenom II X4 970 along with a SSD and a replacement hdd for my existing hdd that's starting to make noises.
System specs:
AMD Athlon II x2 255 (3.1 GHZ)
4GB 800 MHZ DDR2 RAM
Windows 7 32 bit
500 watt PSU Apevia
ATI Radeon 6790
M4A78L-M (AM3 support)
Air cooled system (5x 120mm case fans)
500 GB 7200 RPM HDD
Since I'm buying a phenom II x4 970, I'm afraid that my power supply unit won't be able to handle it's load along with all the other components that are already in it. I am quite aware that Apevia is a terrible PSU brand which is something to keep in mind. ( Might need to upgrade my PSU as well .__.) Is there any chance that my power supply can hold up to my new demands?
2 AnswersDesktops7 years agoQuestion about Graphics Crossfire?
If I were to crossfire a graphics card say a 6790 would I get twice the performance of a single 6790? What magnitude of increase in performance are we looking at?
2 AnswersDesktops8 years agoInformation on AMD APU?
Now I haven't been keeping up to date with any of the new processors and things out in the market but AMD came out with this new APU technology with more efficient communication between CPU and the onboard graphics thus, its name. But I would like to know if there would be any setbacks if I bought an amd APU over a intel CPU. Would I be able to install a separate graphics card and crossfire them? And how does an AMD APU compare to a Intel CPU in terms of performance in things like rendering and games?
2 AnswersDesktops8 years agoUpgrading CPU from Athlon x2 255?
I'm looking to upgrade my CPU for my system (preferably less than $100) because my Athlon II x2 255 (3.1 GHZ) isn't keeping up BF3 too well.
System Specs:
AMD Athlon II x2 255 (3.1 GHZ)
4GB 800 MHZ RAM
Windows 7 32 bit
500 watt PSU
ATI Radeon 6790
M4A78L-M (AM3 support)
Air cooled system (5x 120mm fans)
I'm quite worried that my Power supply unit won't be able to handle the load of an upgrade to a quad core because my graphics card requires the bare minimum of 500 watts. Any suggestions?
3 AnswersDesktops8 years agoSquier bullet HH or B.C. Rich ASM 1 electric guitar?
I'm looking to buy an electric guitar. Since I'm a beginner, it only makes sense that I start off with a lower end guitar, I searched the web and came up with 2 guitars that were in the 120 dollar section.

(I'm looking for guitars with Humbuckers)
Their's a lot of reviews saying the squier Bullet HH is a great guitar for its price but not much on the B.C. Rich ASM 1. I dont know what kind of company B.C. Rich is but I know Squier's fenders is pretty nice. Which one should I get?
1 AnswerOther - Music9 years agoWhat Mic is most suitable for Bands and concerts?
What mic, preferably under $100, will be best for band practice or a concert where the drums don't drown out the bass, guitars, and the vocalists? So far I thought the Audio Technica AT2020 would be a good choice but reviews differ from my opinion.

2 AnswersCamcorders9 years agoNeed help for a cheap high quality microphone?
Me and my friend are planning to get into filming and are planning to buy a good microphone that would be $70 or less. We plan on recording mostly voices, not any effects like water splashes or anything. We were planning on buying the Sony ECM-DS70P Electret Condenser Stereo Microphone but decided we should ask before we bought it. Do you guys have any suggestions on what microphone we should buy?
2 AnswersOther - Electronics9 years agoNew ddr2 memory's semi showing up.?
I just bought a new set of 4 gb ddr2 sticks of RAM running at 800 mhz each. (2 gb each) from gskill. I installed them properly and made sure no dust was in between the connectors and the receivers. When I checked how much RAM there was, it said there was 3.25 gb installed. Is this normal or are the sticks defective?
3 AnswersDesktops9 years agoWhat graphics card should I get?
Well I have a budget of $140 USD and a 500 Watt PSU. I have my eye on GTX 550 but I want to see if there is any other graphics card in the $140 range that can surpass the GTX 550 in terms of performance.
4 AnswersDesktops10 years agoInstall file won't open?
Well, I'm trying to install a program called process blocker so I can block some really annoying viral processes from starting up but when I tried to start the install file, It would say: " This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows install package." I have windows XP SP3 and I just freshly formatted my hard drive so their should be no interface from other programs. D: help!

Well, I noticed that many speakers always have some kind of mesh covering the output device and I want to know what it does and if it will degrade my speaker performance if I took it off.

3 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoHow do I get Hybrid CrossFireX to start?
My motherboard is capable of Hybrid CrossFireX. Its a M4A78L-M with 760G chip set. My discrete graphics card is a ATI Radeon HD 4650. And my on board graphics is ATI Radeon HD 3000. I want to know how to use Hybrid CrossFireX to link these two cards up and speed up my FPS as seen in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCunsneYaLo
I can't boot up my computer with out one of the cards off because I don't have a 2 head VGA adapter. Therefore, when I open the ATI manager thingy, it doesn't have a crossfire tab on it.
