  • Someone close to me is going to commit suicide and I've already tried everything to stop them?

Long story short, my ex intends to kill herself. There is a LOT to the situation, but I'll put it in summary form for convenience. This is urgent and serious, my last resort is literally Yahoo Answers. Anyways here goes...

    1. I'm 100 percent certain her suicidal threats and plans which she has outlined to me are completely real and genuine

    2. She suffers from depression and anxiety. Also shows symptoms of having borderline personality disorder even though she hasn't been diagnosed

    3. I've already tried calling mental heath services (they rung her but couldn't do nothing), police (I live in Australia where all the police can do is a 'Welfare Check', which is simply rocking up at their doorstep asking a few questions about their welfare... Feh, last time they did, she lied to them, they left then she popped a whole bunch of tablets... no help at all.) Oh and I also alerted all her friends, associates, family, everyone I could get ahold of. No-one believes me or can do much. I called a Suicide Callback Centre for help, three or four times, and have already done EVERYTHING they told me to

    4. I can't monitor the person constantly because they have said and shown they intend to leave town, where no-one can find them, then kill themselves in a way where there is little chance for failure (ie. jumping off an extremely tall cliff)

Seems like my only options are to wait for her to die, or get back with her when I don't want to and live in misery.

And NO, she will not talk to me, get help or let anyone help her in any way.

    Help please?

  • What to do about someone who makes repeated suicide attempts and threats? (Serious)?

PLEASE READ AND TAKE DETAILS INTO CONSIDERATION BEFORE ANSWERING.

First: the person in question is my ex-partner. A sufferer of anxiety and depression, who has exhibited suicidal behaviour in the past including threats and repeated, SERIOUS attempts to end their life. And with serious, I mean with full intention, NOT attention seeking behaviour or an attempt to control me. This is serious. The reason for the suicidal behaviour, every time, is because I've wanted to leave. Now that I've finally made the break I can bet she's going to make another serious attempt on her life (she's only got out of hospital a week ago after her last attempt).

    I've already tried:

    1) Calling the cops. Until she actually makes an attempt (ie. pops pills), they're pretty useless

    2) Tried to convince her to get help or call a suicide callback centre. No luck

    3) Tried calling a suicide callback centre myself for advice. Only advice they could give me is the above (no luck)

    4) Stayed with her for the sole sake of keeping her alive. Biggest mistake I've ever done

    5) Tried to get people to help her/keep an eye out for her. She simply runs away or leaves the area all together in order to make a suicide attempt

Any suggestions welcome?! Right now I've suggested the possibility of getting back together to her, but this is a pure lie just to give me more time. I can't stress enough that she is DEAD SET on ending her life if we don't get back together, which I don't intend to do.

    Thank you all in advance

  • How much damage would been hit by a car going 40 km per hour do?

    40 km = approximately 25 miles.

What are some consequences of getting hit by a car at this speed?

  • Are these all traits of an introvert?

    1) I NEVER get lonely or sick of my own company. I don't even know how it feels to be lonely because it's an emotion I've never experienced

    2) A lot of the time I just can't be bothered to make the effort to talk to people (with the exception of close friends). It's NOT because I'm uncomfortable or shy, I just can't be bothered, especially when it comes to small talk

    3) Small talk bores me. A lot. The only time I really engage in it is to find more interesting topics to talk about or because I'm been polite. I prefer deeper conversations and love jokes, therefore gravitate towards people with a similar sense of humour to me

    4) I love thinking and spend hours every day just 'zoned out' - whilst doing so I tend to be very energetic and happy.... often so energetic I can't stay still, I've got to wander around (people must think I'm weird when they constantly see me walking around zoned out, but oh well!)

    5) It generally takes a long time for me to consider someone a friend. I have always had a tiny but close circle of friends

    6) None of my hobbies or interests involve socialising; in fact, they tend to be solitary activities which give me time and space to just let my wander (bike riding, driving, working out at the gym, shooting guns, etc.)
