  • In the world of cycling; what's considered "high gear"?

I'm always confused by this. Are the low gears the ones that you have a faster pedal rate and the high gears are the ones where you're not pedalling as fast? Or, vice versa? The expression, "kicking it into high gear", implies to me that you want a low or slow pedal rate because you're screaming along at high speed, and you're not pedalling hard. When I read the numbers on the gear shifters, I only get more confused.

Cyclists, please help me to learn the lingo. Ride on!

  • Why R TV commercials always louder than the programs?

Do TV stations boost the audio for commercials just to annoy us viewers? Or, do they get paid additional money to play commercials louder than the programming? Why does the FCC allow this?

  • Do people skate downtown Chicago on inner-city waterway?

I've seen pics of downtown Chicago that shows a large canal or a river flowing through it. Does it freeze in the winter time? Can people skate on it? My sister thinks it's too big to freeze over. I think it does. Can anyone please confirm?

  • NHL Jersey Switch = Home versus Away?

The NHL has no idea how badly they have messed up on the changing of the home vs. away jersey colors. Tonight I briefly caught myself cheering for New Jersey thinking that they were the Ottawa Senators. If you know the teams, you know what I'm talking about. NHL referees are sooooooo bad at making calls. The NHL has messed up with this whole traditional jersey thing... I don't know if I can watch this game anymore. Lesson to the NHL. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. Thanks for "wrecking" this sport.

  • NY Rangers can't score on a full 2 minute 5 on 3 ???

How far can a team like this go? Okay, not really a question, as the question is describing the answer!
