Is it normal for guys to take a while to text back?
I'm dating this guy. He's great, it's VERY casual, so I'm not overly stressed about it, but sometimes it takes him a day or more to reply to texts. Is this a fairly typical guy trait or am I getting played?
21 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoTips for dealing with dating anxiety?
I have a fourth date tonight. You'd think that after three dates I'd be a bit more confident or relaxed, but I'm panicking regardless. I do have issues with anxiety in general, and I have Xanax for that, and therapy blah. But nothing seems to help my panic about dating! Just want to know if anyone deals with anything similar and has any tips.
As background in the past I've literally canceled dates with the most bogus lies just because I'm so freaked out to go meet a guy. I'm trying to "force" myself to go...and I will. Once we're together I'll be cool...but I want to know how to not panic all day leading up to it.
Thanks!
3 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoDo you think it's ok to ask this guy out? (in our 30s)?
So I've been on a few dates with a guy. After 2 I wrote him off and very politely told him that I needed to date someone more available. He's got a really busy job and I would often not hear from him for days at a time. All I want is a little "hey how are you" text. Sure, maybe some guys don't want to have to deal with that, especially after only 2 dates, but whatever! I want that, so I'll wait for a guy that will. I told him politely, I said he's a great guy and to take care. He said he was very interested in me and just super shy and has a hard time with communication. He said he's not a frequent texter or emailer in life, but since that talk, he asked me out, he had a great date, and he texted me while I was out of town last weekend. I pretty sure he's at least a little into me, and he's making such huge efforts, do you think it would be okay if I asked him out for Friday? I'm busy every night this week and even though I think there's a chance he'll ask me out, I kind of want to get it on the books so to speak. Do you think this will just scare him off more or he'll be glad it's done?
Sorry if this is unclear, I can try to clarify if you don't understand.
4 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoDating a shy guy? Would love a shy guy to respond!?
I've been on a couple of dates with a really shy, quiet guy. Like Dungeons and Dragons nerdy (I love it!) I have to make most of the moves. When we're together he's great, and when I suggested hanging out he's all for it, but I am wondering if anyone's experience is that this will be how it is. I thought we had a break through, after one date when I got home, he texted to say what a great time he had. But he never asked me out again. When I suggested something...he was SO excited...but I want to be pursued a little! I guess maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree. I'd love some shy guys to answer and let me know if they like a girl who will do some of the pursuit. I am aggressive in general, but I don't want to scare him off or be psycho in general! HELP!

6 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoNeed to understand men please?
I've been on a few dates with a guy. We went out Thursday, and as he dropped me off he asked me out for Monday. I haven't heard from him since then. Is this normal for dudes? To just make no contact knowing he'll see me soon? I know he's A TINY bit busy, but seriously, like sending a text takes so long, so I basically want to know if it's possible he just doesn't feel the need to text me since he's going to see me, or if he's "just not that into me".
11 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoLet me clarify my question - need help understanding men?
I've been on a few dates with a man. He acts VERY interested, and after our date Thursday he asked me out for Monday. But...I haven't heard from him since then. Is he "just not that into me" or does he assume he'll just see me Monday so there's no need to talk?
1 AnswerSingles & Dating1 decade agoQuestion for guys about dating someone new?
If you've been on a few dates with a girl, expressed your interest, and have a date scheduled for a few days, would you check in with her daily? Call or text? Or just assume you'll see each other on your date and leave it at that.
Thanks.
6 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoGuys - explain yourselves to me?
I met a guy online. Before we met he texted me roughly 10 times a day. I loved it. We had a great first date, and before it ended he asked me out again. Texts continue. Second date is amazing as well. He asks me out again. Then he started texting much much less. He had a couple days of work and spent them watching TV, not too busy to text. I asked him on the phone why, and he acted confused about why I even cared. I dropped it immediately (literally I brought it up for like 2 seconds, I know we've only been on two dates). Our third date was also great. We had so much fun, and before he left he asked me out again, made a date. Now it's been two days, and he hasn't texted or called at all. Our date isn't for another 2 days so I haven't been stood up. But I'm confused as to why he has stopped texting or call? Does that mean he has lost interest in me? I know he has it in him to be a constant texter, so don't try to tell me he's just not that communicative, or he's not someone attached to his phone.
I just want to know if I should cut this guy loose. I like him enough to keep hanging out with him a bit more and see what it turns into, but I'm not in love, and I'd rather cut him loose rather than sit around analyzing why he's not texting or calling. If he's just not interested - I DON'T CARE!!!!! I am dating other guys as well, I don't want to waste time worrying about this dude, but he had pursued me so intensely, I don't know if this is some kind of mind game or what.
Someone slap me into reality. The fact that he's stopped his multiple tests a day implies he's no longer interested in me right? Even though he keeps asking me out and telling me he likes me?
HELP!
PS I'm 31 and he's 34.
4 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoWhat's the deal with men?
I've been on two dates with a guy. He's pursued me hard core, we text all day long, talk on the phone periodically. We had a date last weekend and before he left he booked me for another date tonight. He's been distant since then. I know it's possible he's dating other people. But he'd text me things like how he's looking forward to date #3, can't wait, etc. Last night I asked him for specifics on what we were doing. No response. But he sent me another text about something else. I asked him to call me because I was so confused, but I was asleep when he called. I woke up in the middle of the night and texted him, and he said we're on...but even today his responses are really curt and non committal. Am I just being crazy? It's just he was always so responsive, and texts me SOOO often so I felt comfortable doing the same. I'm never one to bombard a guy with texts, but he'll send me several before I even respond, so I thought I could do the same. Now he's gone radio silent. And I know he's home from work today. I suggested a place for dinner tonight. And no response. After a couple hours when I'm sure he's read it :( Why does dating suck SO BAD.
4 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoCan taking the pill incorrectly make your period late?
I went through a horribly traumatic month and just didn't care about anything. I'd miss my pill for 3 days, then take all 3 (not having sex). I know it's bad, I just didn't care. Now my period is a few days late. Could the messed up pills plus the stress cause this? Can't be pregnant, just annoyed by my period.
3 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoIs it normal for guys to take a day to reply to an email?
So yeah, I'm a little anxious and probably no one should ever want to date me...I get it. Still, answer my question!
I am on an online dating site (jdate). A man emailed me and initiated communication. As I do with ALL email correspondence, I respond within an hour. Whatever, don't appear eager, I don't care. I'm gonna be me. He has asked me out, we're meeting next week, but it takes him on average 24 hours to respond to an email. I can tell that he's read the email through the website, and I gave him my number to text me, but he still just emails...once every 24 hours. In every email he references our upcoming date, but I guess I'm used to in this day and age, everyone shooting emails back and forth more frequently, so I'm slightly weirded out by it.
Am I probably freaking him out and annoying him ( I DO NOT write a second email just because I haven't received his), or is this just a dude thing?
Dating sucks.
5 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoCompletely blindsided by a break up?
So after picture perfect holidays my fiance broke up with me out of the blue the day after Xmas. I know what you're thinking "I missed a warning sign, he was unhappy, he tried to tell me." This is not true. HE moved in, HE put down deposits on the church and hall, he proposed, days before he giggled about how much he loved me. Then he "realized" he had been unhappy and he didn't even know it. We've talked it to death, he will not be persuaded. He moved out, he has changed everything, he told me to not have any hope of getting back together. Any experience? Any words of advice? I hurt so bad. I reached out a few times and he said he is so much happier alone now. Just want to know how to LIVE again.
12 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoHow to gauge a job interview?
UGH. I had a job interview this week with a company I would probably give my first born child to get. It's one of the top companies to work for, you've all heard of it, it's insanely competitive (because they can be) and everyone wants to work there. I got an interview and I have no idea how to gauge how I did. I think well? While I was there, they added a few people on last minute they wanted me to meet...it's a very informal, casual place so I can't use any of the standards. I'm only focusing on the negatives. Literally in my interview there was staring, the asking of personal questions, and on and on. I was shocked, but I'm cool with it. I still want the job! But because it was so backward I can't tell how I did. I guess I don't even know what I'm asking here :/
Okay I'm fess up, it's Google. Anyone have any experience? Know what I can expect?
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoDoes anyone know how to become a "Yelp Ambassador"?
I'm active on Yelp and want to become an ambassador (I'm already elite). Does anyone know how? No information on the Yelp site and did not get help from the message boards there...
1 AnswerOther - Internet1 decade agoWhat does your engagement ring look like?
Just love to hear about others, links would be great!
Mine is a 1.1 carat round diamond, classic Tiffany setting on a thin platinum band. That's all. It's exactly what I told my fiance I wanted, though I secretly hoped he'd hear my "at least one carat" request and make it 3. Apparently I'm a gold err-diamond digger.
12 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoDo your fingers change size drastically?
My e-ring fits me perfectly when I'm at a comfortable temperature. It comes off easily but not on its own. When I'm cold, I can shake my hand and it'll slide off. I'm thinking of getting it taken down 1/4 size. It'll still be a bit big in the cold weather (I can wear a guard), but even when I'm hot and clammy it still comes off easily. Is the idea for them to be snug? It's never snug and I wouldn't mind if it was!
Just wondering how everyone else's rings fit.

3 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoBig mouth future sister in law?
I adore my boyfriend's sister. We have become very close on our own. My boyfriend and I had a plan; I was to tell her what I want in an engagement ring, and she would go shopping with him. Me telling her what I want was the last my boyfriend wanted me involved. He's been very secretive and wants it to be a huge surprise. His sister blabbed and told me the plan. I told her to tell me nothing more (I only know when they are going shopping, not when he is proposing). My question is do I fess up and tell the boyfriend I know? I hate having this between us :( I guess we both know it's coming regardless, but he was SO cute and wanted it to be as much of a surprise as possible...Gah!
11 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoCompany that lets you create a book from a baby's name?
One of these was given to a friend's baby and I loved it! I did not know the woman who gave the gift and can't find anything online. It was really specific. If the baby's name was Jane Elizabeth Smith, there was a page for every letter of the name, if that makes sense. I'd love the site for that or something similar! Help!
1 AnswerOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoIs it ever okay for a woman to ask when the engagement is coming?
I can already predict the horrified responses about me being a prehistoric woman who has no say in my own future life. Well, whatever! I am old fashioned I suppose. My boyfriend and I talk marriage often. I know it will happen. I don't need a date or timeline, but I am curious about a timeFRAME. What is a tactful way to say "when the heck are we getting engaged?!" Or is there none? I have no desire to pressure him or try to rush things. Just curious :)
