  • Is the Conn Smythe about the best player throughout the Playoffs, or the best player in the Finals?

For example if suddenly Tomas Kopecky or Daniel Carcillo scores like 12 goals in the next 4 games, could they conceivably get the Conn Smythe over other players such as Toews, Niemi, Richards, Briere, etc?

  • What additional post-season awards would you like to see?

I know there's always going to be somebody out there that says the Stanley Cup is the only award worth mentioning. Okay good, get that out of your system and move on. There's always going to be post-season awards, so which, if any, additional post-season awards would you like to see?

For me, I'd like to see two different kinds of "valuable player" awards. One for Most Valuable Player to his team (like the way the Hart is currently defined). But I'd also like to see a Most Outstanding Player award for the league, because we all know those are often two different players.

I'd also like to see two different awards for Defencemen - one for defensive ability, and the other for all-around ability which includes scoring.

    Thoughts?

  • Are the Penguins fortunate that the Flyers beat the Devils?

If the Devils had won the series, then it's a good chance that the Penguins would play the Devils in the second round. The Devils were 6-0 in the regular season against the Penguins.

  • is this the first year (since expansion) that every single series was tied 1-1 after the first two games?

Has this ever happened before (post-expansion) that every single series in the first round was tied 1-1 after the first two games?

  • Which decade was the best?

If you had to pick a decade, but had to take hockey, music, fashion and TV with it, which decade is your favourite?

I like the 80's. The fashion was awful, but the hockey and the music were fantastic. The TV was ok too.

  • what is the tie breaker for nhl standings?

If two teams finish with the same same, what is the tie-breaker? Wins? Regulation wins? Head-to-head record? Something else? I notice that right now, Detroit is seeded higher than Nashville, but have less wins.

  • ** IF ** the playoffs started now, who do you like in the WEST ?

Just for fun, it would be:

    Chicago vs Detroit

    San Jose vs Colorado

    Vancouver vs Nashville

    Phoenix vs LA

I'm thinking of all those matchups, the Coyotes is the only team that holds serve.

  • What kind of gift for my 11-year-old niece?

She doesn't not live in the same city, so ideally it's something I can buy online and get shipped to her. I thinking of books, CD's or DVD's. What are 11-year-old into these days?

  • question about Bob Gainey?

Bob Gainey was considered one of the best, I think THN ranked him is their top 100 ever. However, he was before my time, I never watched him play. Looking at his stats, they are very underwhelming. Obviously his greatness as a player cannot be judged by statistics, but on the ice.

For those of you who got to watch him play, what was it about him that stood out? Was he really that good?

  • hockey pool help please?

My hockey is straight-up points only. We have a limited number of trades, and I only have two left. I am currently in a tight race for the lead in my pool.

Two trades I'm considering making are:

    1. Dump Dion Phaneuf for Duncan Keith or the soon-to-return Andrei Markov

    2. Dump JP Dumont for the soon-to-return Simon Gagne

Should I make any of these trades? Why or why not? I kind of don't want to burn both of my remaining trades.

    Thanks.

  • Huet, Quick or Anderson?

I'm in a hockey pool that gives goalies 1.5 pts per win (regulation, overtime or shootout), an extra 2 pts for a shutout, and zero for any kind of loss. I had drafted Ray Emery and he's been sucking lately and now he's hurt for 4-6 weeks. My pool limits the number of trades you can do, and I only have three trades left this year. Should I drop Emery for: Cristobal Huet, Jon Quick or Craig Anderson?

    Thanks !!

  • Dion Phaneuf or Duncan Keith?

In a hockey pool, points only, from today to the end of the season. Who will do you think will score more and by how much? In my hockey pool, we are given a limited number of trades, so it has to be a significant enough improvement to warrant a trade.

  • trade Colston and Austin for Flacco +?

I'm in a 10-team league that uses 2 QB's, 5 WR's, 2 RB's, 1 WR/RB among others. My QB's are weak - Orton and Jason Campbell. But my team is strong and I lead the league overall. I've been offered Joe Flacco, Carnell Williams and Reggie Bush for Colston and miles Austin. I have a lot of good receivers: Fitzgerald, Sims-walker, Harvin, Andre Johnson, Berrian, Manningham. My RB's are jamaal Charles, Ryan grant, Steve Slaton, Lesean McCoy.

Is this a trade I should be making? I'm not big on Flacco, and my team seems strong. But with Orton's injury, should i be considering this?

    Thanks.
