  • What do you think Called 20-30-40-50-60?

    Twenty

Hey guy, look at those boobs

    Hey Babe what'cha doing tonight

I feel the itch... I know they are watching

I move a little slower and smile a little wider

    Thirty

Two kids later Married ten years

    Watching and counting calories

To swing or not to swing

    Still wanting the unknown

    Still alive with the itch

    Forty

Separated. Seeking the dream. Looking for the ideal

    Woman to woman

Can odd parties change the scene

Is the itch a new mystery that never was before

    Fifty

Lost. Rendered. Time has stopped but nips at my heels

Reminding me always that things are out of control

    Where are the answers?

Shattered by a mind more keen than mine

    Almost lost my soul.

    Sixty

What is the itch all about?

Why did I ever persue the itch. It feels so pointless now.

No babe with boobs. Just teens mocking the elderly. It has always been.

And now come the answers and the aloneness.

Yet it is the aloneness that always comes when physicality disappears

To face yourself and what will come.

  • I have a huge barren space in my large yard. I filled the space with rosa rugosa but no luck on blooms.?

The rosa rugosa hedge that I wanted just gets leggy and has few blooms. The hedgerow is in total sun. I have given the plants rose food and tried other measures but the situation remains the same. Tall, leggy plants with very few blooms.

  • Have any of you poetry people considered that EE Cummings I Carry Your Heart is not really a love poem?

ee cummings was married many times. When you really look at this peom, do you think this is a sane person writing? He has captured another person's heart or should we say encaptured. He then proceeds to blame all of his behavior on this person. I do what I do because of you. Yes, this is about love but it is also about possessiveness and can border on obsession. ee cummings often has double meanings to his poems. There is the surface and then there is the dark. If you have ever heard him read his poetry, it is easy to understand the dark. This is a very deep poem. It is about love but is also about the pitfalls of those who love too much.

  • Paprika pepper advice? My plants won't turn red.?

I planted paprika peppers this year and all was going fine. I had four peppers turn red by July. That was the last of the peppers to turn red. I have plenty of peppers but none have turned red since July. The peppers are going from green to purple. Will this be all right to make paprika powder? Are they past their prime if they turn purple? It will make for a strange looking paprika powder. I live in Northern Michigan and we had lots of cool weather and cold nights which I am certain effected the plants but why would they skip turning red and go to purple?

  • Slight yellowing on leaves of tomato plants?

My tomato transplants are experiencing a slight yellowing on a few of the outer leaves. It is not all plants, just a few.Last year when I transplanted, I used Miracle Gro potting soil and lost whole batchs of plants. I attributed this to too strong a fertilizer in the medium. Yellowing usually means lack of nitorgen but again this is a potting mix with some fertilizer. Cant seem to buy anything else anymore. Is there another reason leaves could be yellowing. I fertilize with worm compost tea but have not yet fertilized because I am concerned about a repeat of last year...too much fertilizer. The other leaves on the rest of the plant area lush, dark green.

  • Carpal tunnel surgery?

Yesterday the surgeon told me I had carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands. X-rays showed no arthritis. The hand tests he had me perform did not speak of carpal tunnel but the symptoms did. Left thumb numb most of the time. Some days nasty burning sensations in the hand with alot of pain. Right hand just began manifesting. The procedure will sever the tendons in the right and left hand to remove the pressure. I feel I can live with the pain but will it get worse? Can I rely on the results of an EMG test? All of these symptoms are concurrent with getting a Boxer and walking her while trying to restrain her jerky behavior on the leash. Are there alternatives to surgery. I dont trust doctors. Especially surgeons.

  • Has Yahoo become unmanageable?

Yesterday I posted a question and it was on page 30 within a half hour. The first 20 pages were all questions asked within 3 seconds. My question is now probably on page 100 with no responses. Do our contacts automatically get our questions? Do we have to put all our questions in one category because our friends are in this category because if we post general or other, our question is gone long before we get an answer. To get feedback do we have to have a host of contacts now to get an answer? How may people will actually go past page 30 to answer questions? I am posting in garden & Land because maybe my contacts can give me an answer.

  • Significant headlines?

Are Clinton and Obama more important than this headline in yesterdays paper...8000 water birds dead in Michigan waters from botulism in the 2007 season. Botulism caused by ships coming in the Sioux locks introducing invasive mussels into the Great Lakes. Any candidates addressing this issue? One season, 8000 birds: ducks, loons, cormorants etc. Beaches lined with dead birds in November.

  • Politcal candidates and credit cards?

Do you feel that it is significant that not a single candiate has addressed credit card "malpractice" in this economy where people have been forced to use credit cards. My friend got into financial stress and made only the minimum payment on a credit card; The interest rate was 8.8% Her rate went to 28% for only making the minimum payment...no other reason. Because Chase owned the card, she had 3 other cards that went to 28% because Chase owned them all. They have many other tricks as well.

  • Has anybody read or reread the Unabomber's Manifesto lately?

Although the man went a little berserk with killing people, his manifesto is truly insightful. I reread the other night and Ted is so on target with what is happening to society today. Anybody agree, disagree? Does anybody even remember the Unabomber and his Manifesto?

  • What is this caterpillar?

I live in Northern Michigan. We had much snow on the ground and then it rained, warmed up and all the snow disappeared. Two days later it snowed again. When I took the dog out for a walk I found all these caterpillars on top of the snow. These caterpillars were in an open area but around this open area are evergreens and woods. Cant get a decent picture. The body is small. It is about 1 inch but some are smaller. It is brown in color, smooth, segmented. About 1/4" from the head it has white stripes on the segments down each side, not the middle. The head is the size of the body, not enlarged. It has big eyes. The underbelly is a dull light green. I feel is could be in the bagworm family but the pictures dont look right. Not a gypsy moth or the eastern tent caterpillar. Have not found a site on the web that helps.

  • Sweet or Hungarian Pepper?

I have read two different books regarding paprika. One book states that there is an actual Paprika pepper and the other book states that sweet paprika comes from the pimento in a different kind of pepper. Which is it? I found seeds once in a Burpee catalog for a Paprika pepper but have not found it anywhere else.

  • Michigan BellPepper?

Okay I suffer from brain fatigue. I was reading a gardening book that gave the name of a particular green pepper that was developed for the Northern Michigan climate. It is not a new pepper. The only thing I remember is that it was an older library book and of course I have forgotten the name of the book and the name of the pepper. I meant to write it down but forgot to do that too. Must have been one of those days when my kids were bothering me...or I am getting forgetful and wont admit it.

  • Manure question?

We have unlimited access to horse manure. When is horse manure considered seasoned and available to use by plants in conjunction with compost? So I guess the question is how long before manure leaves the horse until it is seasoned? When can we use it with plants? We have worked fairly recent horse manure into the garden in the fall but only as an additive to the soil and not with the plants.

  • Is there anyone who does not like poinsettias besides me?

Every Christmas the world is bombarded with poinsettias and by New Year's the plants all look, leggy worn out and half dead. And then people agonize about how to take care of them because someone special gave them the poinsettia. I love flowers, plants, trees but I cant stand poinsettias. They are too much trouble to care for, die almost at once, and people pay good money for a plant that most people have no idea how to care for.

  • Chicken fat mushrooms?

Each year, I get morels in my yard but in the Fall I get an abundanza of Suillus Americana also called chicken fat mushrooms. Is there any good way to cook these things and make them taste good? Most references state that these are edible but of a dubious quality. Anybody tried cooking these and come out with a good product?

  • Should I do fall cleanup of my perennials?

Should the following perennials be cut down and added to the mulch or should I leave the stalks with the seeds for the birds: goldenrod; purple coneflower; giant blue lobelia; hollycock; phlox; blazing star;rudbeckia; coreopsis; joepye weed. All have long stalks and have gone to seed. Are these seeds eaten by the birds or have they dispersed long before 4 foot snow piles. Should I cut them down to the ground and mulch or leave the stalks and just mulch heavy around the base of the plants. Winter residents are: chickadee; evening grosbeak; tufted titmouse; woodpeckers; some juncos; finches nuthatchs. Would these stalks harbor more insects and larvae or would they benefit the birds?

  • Why is Yahoo putting my questions to a vote when I selected a best answer?

Lately, any question I ask goes to a vote even though I have selected a best answer. How does one contact Yahoo to complain. The person I have selected loses 10 points and I lose 3 for not choosing a best answer. I am posing this in House and Garden because that is where I am usually at and maybe other folks in this category are having a similar problem.
