2 AnswersMathematics10 years agoWhat happened to the kansas city plaza?
Last weekend my husband and I went to the plaza for a movie, dinner and drinks. We arrived around 6p for dinner. Then went to the movie. When we left the movie the plaza looked like a high school party. There were teens everywhere. It's very rare when we come to the city and this was not the environment we thought it was going to be. IMO the plaza doesn't have the most affordable dining options. Therefore when you go to the plaza you expect a certain amount of class. However we were surrounding by loud, unruly teens. Also the police were in full force as well. I can't say we'll be back in the evening anytime soon. We did enjoy ourselves during the early evening but once the sun when down, the plaza turned into something completely unexpected.
Is this the norm for the plaza?
1 AnswerKansas City1 decade agoHome for sell has dehumidifier in the basement?
My husband and I are interested in a home. We are first time home buyers. The one home that fits our needs had a dehumidifier constantly running in the basement (unfinished.) We saw this home 3 times and the dehumidifier was always running. We do plan on having an inspection of the home if we make an offer....are there any specific questions we should ask about the dehumidifier? Is it possible to get a very detailed inspection of the structure and basement?
From what I read online having one running isn't a good thing. We don't want our first home to be a money pit.
Thank you,
2 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoWould you buy a home with a mole in the backyard?
My husband and I went to an open house recently. The house has been on the market since June 2010. The house is what we're looking for expect there's a mole in the backyard. The yard had mounds of dirt in 5 spots. I thought someone was digging...but my husband knew what it was. He said "oh so they have a mole" My realtor at the open house acted surprised when my husband said that.
My husband went outside and looked at the tunnels to see if they were fresh (this is all new to me.) He said the dirt was not dried out so it's a strong possibility the mole is still around.
This will be our first home purchase. We really like the location, floor plan and purchase price. The next step is the offer and inspection. I'm just wondering what people think of purchasing a home if there's a mole? I've been researching online and seems like moles aren't easy to get rid of.
What do you guys think?

5 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoCan you sue over the burial of your parent?
What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri
My mother in law died Friday evening after a long battle with breast cancer. She was very ill from March until her passing. She has two children my husband (Jack) and his sister (Jill). Jill hasn't been inside her mother's home since 2002. During the illness we called and darn near begged Jill to come and see her mother. The main issue is over preaching. My mother in law received her ministry in 1998 and Jill was very upset. Jill feels that as a women she has no place in the pulpit and unless her mother stopped preaching she would not see her. Jill would often call her an embarrassment. Jill's husband is a pastor at another church and refuses her to interact with any family who supports mom.
When my mother in law passed Jill finally came in the hospital. When we were in the room the first thing Jill said was the services will be at my church. My husband said no mom has her own church. Jill said she would no step foot in that church and left. We had a meeting with the funeral home the following evening and Jill came. My husband was trying to make arrangements and Jill said she would not approve anything unless everything is completed by her church. Once again my husband explained that mother was a pastor at her church for over 10 years why would we not have the service there. She got upset and left. Now we get a call saying if we have any arrangements without her approval she will sue us.
I understand people can sue for anything, but are we breaking a law by burying my husband's mother. Can my husband be sued over having a service and burial for his mother? We are not asking Jill for a penny to cover costs. My husband is afraid that if he has the service and burial she can take legal action against him. Please help thank you.
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHigh blood pressure medicine and heart rate?
My husband takes high blood pressure medicine. He's been on this prescription since 2003. He recently began going to the gym with me. He likes the treadmill and uses the fat burner option. Unfortunately it seems like he can't get his heart rate to the fat burning rate. The treadmill will rise the incline to help increase the heart rate but nothing. Last night the incline was at a 10. I told my husband to increase the speed and he did. That didn't help either. The speed was 3.4. He's not in good physical health to run or jog. This didn't get his heart rate up either. It's not an error with the treadmill b/c I use it all the time.
I'm wondering if it's b/c of his high blood pressure medication.
6 AnswersHeart Diseases1 decade agoWhen do you stop looking for a sale and just buy your plane ticket?
My husband and I are coming to Vegas September 17-22. I keep checking the Southwest website and so far no sales. The rates have been the same since March. Part of me says just book now and be done with it. However I keep thinking maybe there will be a sale soon. So far the rates roundtrip are Kansas City to Las Vegas are $330 per person. Of course I keep thinking how we only paid $210 for the same dates last year.
Just wondering when you give up and book the flight.
4 AnswersAir Travel1 decade agoCan a 14 year old go to the 15-17 camp with her sister?
My husband and I are taking the family on a cruise. The children ages are (his children)14 year old twins(boy and girl) and a 15 year old girl, which is my daughter. The carnival clubs are 12-14 and 15-17. My step-daughter wants to hang with my daughter. My step-daughter is very self-cautious due to her weight. We don't think she'll meet friends if left alone.
Do you think Carnival will allow my step-daughter in the 15-17 group. We won't ask about my step-son b/c my nephew, age 13, is coming and they are close.
We are just wondering about the girls....thanks in advance
4 AnswersCruise Travel1 decade agoOnly replacing tires in pairs.?
I have to replace my car tires. The car's original tires were stolen by an auto garage shop where I took the car to when I got a flat. They took off my good tires and replaced them with 4 really worn tires. I guess they thought I wouldn't notice when I picked up the car. I filed charges and won a small settlement. Since I couldn't prove the value of the orginal tires I was only awarded $200.
The car has 4 different brands of tires. Two of the tires (on the drivers side) have a decent amount of tread left. The two tires (on the passenger side) have very little tread. I was told if you buy tires in pairs you should replace them in the rear. I want to bring that one good tire on the rear driver's side to the front passenger side. Then the new tires I purchase can go in the rear. Is this possible? I don't have enough money to replace all four at the same time.
12 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoCan you add an extra person to your cabin later on?
My husband and I are going on a Carnival cruise which sails in March. I would like to take my daughter with us. I won't know if she's able to come until Dec this year due to her basketball schedule. We are comfortable staying in one cabin as we've done this before. The only problem is we want to put our deposit down now. Then add my daughter later if her schedule allows. I don't want to pay for 3 people now, then find out in Dec she can't attend.
Has anyone ever added another person to your cabin after paying the deposit?
4 AnswersCruise Travel1 decade agoSouthwest Travel funds?
I have $120 in Southwest credits. I tried to get an extension but they were doing to charge me $50 per ticket. That will only leave us with $20. It's not worth the trouble, you can have it if you want it. The only catch is the funds expire on 5/1/2010. You can email me if your interested. I'll call you with the confirmation number.

1 AnswerAir Travel1 decade agoFiling for child support when you only have custody of one child.?
i"m wondering if a mother can file for child support, if only one of the children resides with her? My husband has twins one boy and one girl age 13. My husband's son lives with us. He has been since he was 4, he's 13 now. The daughter lives with the mother. There has never been a financial arrangement done by the court, nor has there ever been an official custody arrangement. The financial arrangement they made was my husband takes care of everything for the son and she does everything for the daughter. If there was a big expense, they would split it. This arrangement has been fine until early 2009. She got married and everything went crazy....now she's always broke. My husband started giving his daughter an allowance b/c she never had pocket money....for movies, mall...etc. That's $20 a week. I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but it is when the other parent doesn't help out.
My husband takes care of their son 100% solo. His mother can never help with anything. However she wants my husband to help her with their daughter. My husband is stressed...he loves his daughter but the mother doesn't want to do anything for her. It's also hard b/c his daughter will take up for her mother. She'll say momma working hard and need help. You have a car and momma don't. Momma couldn't go to college like you. The latest text from the mother was "either you help me take care of her daughter or I'll see you in child support court" This text was b/c he caught her in a lie. She asked him to pay half on their daughter's hair ($90). He said yes and that he'll drop off the money at the hair shop. The mother said to just give it to her. My husband said no b/c his job is in the same area at the hair shop. Then all of the sudden she said her cousin was going to do her hair not the shop so give her the money Friday. Then my husband asked why was a cousin making them pay $180 for braids if she's not a professional. The mother got upset and hung up. She texted the message shortly after.
I don't know how she can ask the court for child support if she doesn't help us with her son.
12 AnswersParenting1 decade agoWho Submits the Reaffirmation in a Bankruptcy?
My father had to file bankruptcy due to medical bills. He filed chapter 7 on 2/09/10. He has a car which has 11 more months on the loan before it's paid in full. The auto finance company (GMC) said they need a reaffirmation agreement or they will take his car. My father has left messages with his attorney regarding this. The attorney has not called back. According to her staff she is out of the country dealing with a family matter. The auto finance company has called my father almost daily asking for this document. She's been MIA for 2 1/2 weeks now. My father paid her a hefty fee, so he can't switch attorneys at this point.
The auto finance company said they are willing to complete the form as long as he approves of it. I told my father he should wait for his attorney before he signs anything. I never filed bankruptcy before, so I don't know what to tell him. We call another attorney in town, and he said the reaffirmation agreement has to be completed by his attorney first. Then the paperwork is submitted to the auto finance company...this is true?
1 AnswerPersonal Finance1 decade agoWhy are there no cruises in May from these ports?
My husband and I recently returned from our first cruise. We want to take another one next May. The last cruise was Carnival and left from Port Canaveral in Orlando. We wanted to leave from Galveston, New Orleans or Mobile, AL this time. Basically b/c we wanted to go to Mexico. However there are no cruises with Carnival in May leaving from those ports.
Does anyone know why? I'm just curious...thanks
4 AnswersCruise Travel1 decade agoRepeated Dream of being chocked or chased....please help?
I'm hoping someone knows how to interpret dreams. I keep having a dream that I'm either bring chocked by an object, or someone is pouring something down my throat like a liquid, or that I'm being chased by a murderer. Don't laugh but the murderer when I'm being chased is either Jason from Friday the 13th, or Michael Myers from Halloween. I did watch those movies in the past with no problems.
Last night was really hard b/c I had all three dreams back to back. In the dream I was laying on the couch and someone was pulling the blanket I was using up towards my neck, which was beginning to chock me. I was calling out for my daughter (age 14) and my mother (deceased since 2005) in the dream to help me. However my voice wouldn't go loud enough for them to hear me. Then the person suddenly went away. So in laid on the couch and all of a sudden someone (tall and dark) grabbed my mouth and was pouring something down my throat. The liquid was thick and it was chocking me. So I woke up (in the dream) and ran into my mother's room. I told my mother what happened and she began holding me. She kept saying what did you do or say, what have I been doing. I told her I didn't do anything. She keep rocking me and telling me it was ok. Then she told me to go back and lay down. Then Jason from Friday the 13th began chasing me outside. I hid in various places and I woke up for real.
I have these dreams about once a week. I normally don't have all three in the same night. I'm really tired and just wanted to know if they meant anything.
4 AnswersDream Interpretation1 decade agoHelp with escort cards or seating chart....wedding next week?
I have to do a seating arrangements for my wedding next Saturday the 30th. My original plan was to print tent cards, but my step-son broke our printer Wednesday. We can't afford to buy another one on such sort notice. So I'm forced to come up with something I can print on my black and white printer at work. So I'm limited to printing on regular 8x11 paper or using mailing labels. I"m thinking about typing the names on a regular paper in alphabetical order. I'll use a nicer card stock like the paper for resumes. Then put the paper in a nice 8x10 picture frame. I'll trim the sides so it can fit.........does this sound tacky? Any ideas you have I'm open. My hand writing is horrible so that's not an option and the cheaper calligraphy artist I found wants $4 per name since it's such sort notice. I defiantly don't have the money for that.
Below is what I was thinking:
Guest Table
Sarah Jones ..................Two
Michael Smith ................Three
4 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoHow many times did you change your mind?
So my wedding is in two weeks on 1/30/10. I have these candy sticks for my wedding favors.
http://www.bogdonschocolates.com/detail.aspx?ID=7
I wanted something edible. I didn't know how to package them so I bought these 2x8 white jewelry style boxes. When they arrived, I thought four pieces of candy in the boxes didn't look right. It was too much room in the box. So then my sisters and I decided to buy bookmarks to also go in the box. The book marks have a nice poem and our wedding date. I got the bookmarks in the boxes and the candy but it looks tacky and cheap. Like something to give away at a birthday party
So now I'm back to just using the candy and packaging it differently. My fiancé is going to lose his mind b/c I keep changing stuff.....ie wasting money. We both paid for the candy $35 and boxes $22. My sister ordered the bookmarks as a gift $18. It's like I can't decide on what I want. I feel like a complete spaz.....
Did you or your fiancé change their minds a lot when planning the wedding?
4 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoWhere did you seat your vendors at the wedding?
I'm finalizing my wedding seating arrangements. I don't know where to place the vendors for their meals. I'm giving a meal to the photographer, videographer and DJ. Since it's only 3 of them I don't want to bring in another table, which holds 10 people. I think it will crowd the room. However seating them with my guest might be awkward. Also I'm serving my food family style. Should I give them the same meal or should I just get a plated version. The family style is 34.95, and plated is 20.95.
For the family style there are 5 courses. The plated will have salad, chicken, veggie and starch.

I'm thinking something that can be engraved. Maybe a leather portfolio, but I don't know if coaches use that...please give me some ideas....thanks
