  • Can someone define the "sudden" in "sudden onset"?

So I am one of those people who feels like I have never really had the flu, since I've never had a fever (as an adult) for more than half a day at most.

(I should also mention that I am a big old hypochondriac!)

About two hours ago, I started to feel kind of "off"--slight chills (but not a fever, and ps it's freezing in my workplace), muscles are achy, headache (although I've had that on and off for a few days--oh--they're also painting/varnishing in my building).

I'm QUITE sure I don't have Swine Flu--I'm not trying to be ridiculous here--but what exactly does the "sudden" in "sudden onset" MEAN?! Five minutes? Two hours? Thirty seconds?

I guess I just really want to know how "sudden" is defined. Haven't been able to find anything online defining it, so I thought I'd try here. :-)

  • Is it possible for a therapist to be doing EMDR on you without revealing that she is doing it?

My therapist is very "fidgety" in our sessions. She is often twirling her foot in a circle, or doing little things with her hands/fingers. This last session, she had her hand by her eye and did some kind of tapping/flittering thing, and I got this wave of sadness that came over me . . .

I should say that all of this is while I am not making direct eye contact with her . . . so I'm catching all of this out of the corner of my eye.

And don't bother saying it--I am NOT going to ask her! I am just curious as to whether anybody can explain/speculate on what it is that she's doing.

    thanks,

    Rain

  • Why does my collarbone ache on both sides after surgery last year to remove a lipoma/lymph node on the left?

Just over a year ago, I found a lump on my left side, just below the collarbone and midway between my shoulder and neck. It turned out to be a benign "lipoma" (fatty growth), which they removed. They also removed and biopsied a lymph node there. Ever since, I frequently have an aching at the site of the surgery, but strangely enough, my right side of my collarbone also tends to ache in about the same spot.I see my general physician for a physical in December, but am trying to decide if I should call my surgeon, or if there's anything that can be done. It's not agonizingly painful, but it's uncomfortable enough that I notice it . . . and it's tiring me out.

  • If I get a CT scan of my thoracic cavity, will they be able to see my pancreas/esophagus?

I have a supraclavicular lymph node that is swollen and am getting a CT but am concerned because it's only the thoracic area and I'm concerned about other types of cancer . . . (too much Googling)

  • Any chance a swollen left supraclavicular lymph node (Virchow's node) could NOT be cancer?

I don't have any other symptoms or any other swollen lymph nodes. The only complicating factor is that I had a root canal on a back tooth on the left side of my mouth and had a subsequent infection, so I guess that there is some obscure chance that this could be related to the infection I had in the tooth/gum after the root canal was done--except that everything I'm reading says that this particular lymph node doesn't drain that way.

I also wonder is whether it really is my lymph node? The swelling is between the top of my shoulder and my clavicle . . . I can tell that this side is more swollen than the other side. Now it feels like my collarbone itself is larger on that side. It isn't tender, but it aches at times. (because I'm poking at it?)

I have upper GI problems for almost ten years (GERD, etc) so obviously I am concerned about pancreatic or esophageal cancer. My CT scan is on Sunday, but I'm going nuts waiting. I would love to hear that it could be something else!

  • Should I reduce my insurance so that I only have PL/PD?

I live in Michigan. My car is a 2000 Suzuki Esteem (thanks for not laughing!) with about 105,000 miles on it. Blue Book value for "private sale" is about $3000. It has minor rust on one door (which I'm determined to fix), has had a few accidents, etc.

I don't at all have the means or any plan to buy another car, so I'm hoping this one will last me another 100,000 miles (and it likely will.)

So should I keep full insurance on it? how do I know when it's time to just have collision coverage on it? and how much cheaper will it be, anyway?
