I have two old laptop hard drives that I would like to use as external hard drives. I've already purchased the SATA external drives and hooked them up to my new laptop. I can't really read what's on them which is making salvaging any files difficult. The old drives have Windows XP and Windows 7 while my new one is Windows 8. The Windows XP drive has a virus on it because I hooked it up to my new computer and my anti virus software detected it. I'm too afraid to look for and salvage any files from this hard drive because I don't know where the virus is. I need to wipe it and reformat it so that I can safely use it to back up data from my new computer. All info that I found on the internet does not help my specific situation. They all explain how to erase a hard drive when it's still in your laptop, but both of my laptops broke which is why I removed the hard drives. Can I safely plug the Windows XP drive into my new laptop with it contracting the virus? How would I initiate a full erase and remove the partition the factory put in place? Also, the Windows 7 drive I would like to keep as is for a while longer while I figure out how to remove Microsoft Office and NitroPDF to transfer to my new PC. Microsoft said they cant help me since the hard drive was removed from the computer so I think that I need to find an old laptop and insert my hard drive into that one. Any suggestions and tips on that project would be appreciated as well.

My old laptop fell apart. Literally. Since it was the outside that was broken, not the hard drive, I bought a hard drive enclosure in order to transfer files & such then I plan to reformat it and use it as an external hard drive. The problem I am having is this... My old laptop (now hard drive) was Windows 7, my new one is Windows 8... My old laptop (now hard drive) has NitroPDF (they have NO customer service unless you pay for customer service), my new laptop can't use the product key because it's registered on my old laptop (now hard drive)... same issue with Office 2010 even though I bought it, I can't find the product key because I moved and I don't know what happened to the box with the product key on it. So can I transfer the files by plugging in the hard drive to the new laptop? If so, how? Is there a way to find the product key within a file on Office 2010 that my new laptop will recognize and open? If I had a working laptop, can I open that one & replace the hard drive with my own in order to open Windows 7 and uninstall my software so that I can reinstall to my new laptop? I'm obviously lost as to what my next step should be. If someone can please let me know step by step instructions on ways to get this done since my old laptop is a goner I would be so grateful. My computer died and wont turn on anymore. Is there a way for me to remove the hard drive and maybe "plug" it into something to retrieve my paid for programs, like Microsoft Office and Nitro PDF, so that I can add them to a new computer?

i bought my computer with windows vista and upgraded to windows 7 using Microsofts download option where they send you an email after you purchase the product. i recently got a virus and some programs weren't working so i decided to use the recovery tool and set to factory settings, only i didn't know it meant vista because i thought vista was removed when i upgraded. The microsoft website only gives me info to purchase windows 7 and download it, not to download it when i already have my product key. does anyone know where i can download windows 7 home premium and use my product key? would looking for a trial version work and then inputting my product key when the trial is over? thank you in advance to anyone who can help me.

My ex has threatened to kidnap our child and leave the country so I went to court and got a court order that states that our child cant leave the state without a formal 30 day notice to me with phone numbers and address and a basic itenerary to where our child is located. I just received a text message saying that they are on their way to Utah. The police say they wont do anything since our child is with a parent despite the court order. What are my options? I dont know where my child is and I am scared.

I need to save a voicemail for court but my provider (Boost Mobile) doesn't offer a save option for long periods of time. So, how can I put my phone on speaker and let my computer record the message through the microphone? I did an internet search and got bombarded with info that doesn't apply to my situation 100%. I need a cheap solution, not "go buy a mini voice recorder" or "buy a cord to connect from your phone to your computer". I need a simple program, meaning not something with a lot of editing software. My child's father wants to take our daughter to France for a few weeks and he is a French National (not a US citizen), the courts recently told me to sign for a passport for her so he could remove her from the US (our daughter is American but qualifies for Dual Nationality due to her fathers' non-American status). Did I miss something because I thought a parent had the right to refuse a passport for their child?

I filed my taxes in February and, as per our agreement, I claimed my daughter on my taxes. Well, her father got an extension and filed in Oct. But he claimed her as well. He has his own business and I had earned income (I worked for someone not myself). Now I would like to know how long will it be before I am notified that I'm being audited. According to the new "rules" only one person is allowed to claim her and if they notice the same social being repeated, it flags something in the system. How is this done and how long does it take?

A friend of mine wants to have someone build her website and this guy told her that he would put her website on a disk for her (after putting it live) but that she would need to bring the disk back to him for updates and such because she doesn't have the program. Of course he'd have to charge extra for all this. Another guy said he'd keep her website on his computer and if she needed updates she needs to go through him. How does this typically work and how can we tell if our ignorance of this process is costing her more money? Doing it herself is not an option, I've already suggested that.

I don't have $3000 to go back to family law court and our last case ended abruptly because my ex is physically abusive and Juvenile Court took over the case. Child social services made him go through some counseling and said he was improved. Yeah right. Anyway, our family law judge was in the middle of figuring out his income for child support and I would like to re-open the case, but I don't have the funds. Is there any way I can file for child support (and back support) without spending $3000 in attorney's fees? Legal aid society only has one free attorney in family law and he's not good (he wouldn't tell the judge about my ex's abusive behavior because the police were never called and, in my opinion, it left me and my daughter open to later abuse.) Please, only REAL advice. No comments. Also if no advice, any suggestions on how I could raise $3000 would be good. Thank you.

I know that douching needs to be done as infrequently as possible because it can cause more harm than good so please no lectures on health. I also know that there is a vinegar/water solution that is recommended but I forgot what it was. Anybody know how much of each should be mixed together?

I for one will be voting for this to pass. Small children don't have the mental capability for memory when it comes to right and wrong. I think it's sad that so many parents have stopped trying to teach children and they hit them to get their attention instead. This will force many people to PARENT their children. After my daughter was born I breastfed for a year. When I weaned her off the breastmilk my breasts shrunk two cup sizes. I was very stressed at the time so I waited until I gained weight. Now my daughter will be two years old, I'm the same size I was before I was pregnant and my breasts are still smaller than they were before the pregnancy. What happened?

i am a single mother who is looking for a cheaper way to fix my car and a friend suggested looking into mechanic schools and volunteering my car. of course i'd still have to pay but not as much as a shop would charge. anybody know how to look into this?
