Jason Heyward for Chris Sale?
Keeper league, I'd be getting Sale. Do I take it?
4 AnswersFantasy Sports9 years agoCassel, Garrard or Leinart?
In my 16 team league, my starting QB is Joe Flacco. Clearly not the best option, but I won't complain for 16 teams. I plan to employ a QB by committee approach with Ben Roethlisberger (who's on my bench until he comes back Week 6) and Flacco eventually, but until then I'm fine with Joe Cool. The only problem is his Week 1 match-up against the Jets. I'm not totally confident in Flacco for that start.
My dilemma is what QB on the waiver wire should I pick up to start Week 1? Cassel vs. SD, Garrard vs. Den, or Leinart @ StL. These are the only 3 guys available with match-ups that are solid. I know this question would be easier to answer the day before the season starts when we see how these guys are performing and whatnot, but I have to pick up 1 of these 3 by midnight tonight due to a unique waiver rule we have. So what do you think? Or do you think Flacco will score more fantasy points against the Jets than these 3 guys against their respective match-ups?
3 AnswersFantasy Sports1 decade agoWho should I take #1 overall?
The question seems harder to answer this year than past years
The league is a standard roto, 12 teams. My keepers heading into the draft are Alex Rios, Jake Peavy, and Chris Davis.
For the most part, all of the premiere talent is on the board. I have limited my choice to 3 players: Hanley Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez, and Albert Pujols.
I know Hanley Ramirez is the 30/30 guarantee and the 40/40 threat, and his RBI's will jump after probably being moved to the 3rd in the Marlins order. And I know Alex Rodriguez statistically is better every other year, and this year just happens to be one of the predicted stronger years and he will do extremely well trying to make the doubters eat crow after the steroid scandal.
But for some reason, I'm sold on Pujols. He is always a solid MVP candidate and is a guarantee .330/35 HR's/115 RBI's. I just question if this is the right move because I have Chris Davis and can stick him at the 1B hole but the same case can be made for picking against A-Rod due to Davis' dual position eligibility.
So Han Ram would be the logical choice, right? I just feel he has the best chance of the top 3 to not reach his potential and not be as good as last year. Plus the Marlins lineup sucks. Plus I'd be content with a Drew, Jeter, or Peralta in later rounds. Plus I am already off to a nice start in SB's with Rios (a guaranteed 25) so I just don't know
So as you can see I'm in a big dilemma. And since I don't get a pick till #24, I can't mess this up.
Thanks for the help!
6 AnswersFantasy Sports1 decade agoToss up: P.O.Y. right now...Hansbrough or Beasley?
Both guys have single-handedly led their teams to where they are (in my opinion, Bill Walker is nothing without Beasley) currently at and obviously, both would suffer heavily without their big men.
Beasley's stats are more impressive but Hansbrough has had to do it without his first and second point guards on the depth chart, respectively.
Beasley is the better offensive player but Hansbrough is considered the better all around player with the energy he brings on defense.
So if you had to pick the Naismith Award winner right now, who would you take between these two?
And if you feel someone else is deserving of the award, please share. Kevin Love? Chris Douglas-Roberts perhaps?

Week 12: Who do I start?
QB:
Drew Brees @ Car
Derek Anderson vs. Hou
RB:
Maurice Morris @ StL
Warrick Dunn vs. Ind
WR (pick 1):
D.J. Hackett @ StL
Dwayne Bowe vs. Oak
Patrick Crayton vs. NYJ
This is a big week for me. I'm currently in 7th at 5-6 and tied with the guy in 6th (top 6 teams make playoffs). He has 12 more points than me so that's why he's ranked ahead of me. What Yahoo! hasn't taken into account yet is that leading tiebreaker is Head-to-Head record. I beat him Week 1 so a win this week assures me top tiebreaker over this guy. So you can see why I'm desperate.
I've been trying to trade Brees or Anderson to get a better #2 RB but I've come up empty on every offer. I'm starting to get desperate. Last offer was Brees for Earnest Graham and he still declined. So since I got a lot of depth it makes it hard to pick who to start.
At WR, the guy I play has Romo so I threw in Crayton just in case if Romo throws one to him, no harm done for me (although most of his TD's are Owens)
3 AnswersFantasy Sports1 decade agoWow I love all the Packer fans getting scared?
"The Refs were on your side!"
"Your lucky our playcalling sucked!"
"Hope you guys enjoy playing golf while we are playing football!"
What next, too many bugs on the field?
I smell fear, I love it. Brett Favre is returning to form, and by that I mean the form in which he set the new outstanding INT record. And since no one will ever touch that, at least he wil leave some mark in the NFL!
Face it cheeseheads, your run game sucks. Your defense is extremely overrated, you guys have played all struggling teams! San Diego and New York are just now getting back on track offensively, Minnesota has done nothing, and Philly has only had 1 good week and it was against the almighty Lions.
Oh ya I also love the "Well you guys lost to San Diego!" True, except we played them on the road, without Harris (actually played a bit in the game but was only 75%), and with the crappiest QB to enter the NFL. So congrats on your "victory".
The worst part is you guys think your making the postseason.
OVER-RATED
12 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoBear Down, Chicago Bears?
I smell a Packer collapse. Favre is still the 84 year old QB he always was getting drunk and throwing 3-4 INT's a game. With absolutely no running game that they have they stand no shot at any success.
As for the Lions, yes an explosive offense. But a very inconsistent offense. May explode on you 1 week but may put up a goose egg or 7 at best another week. As for their D, we just won't go there.
And the Vikings, primed for future success with a plethora of young guys and they got a lot of D players I like E.J. Henderson, Darren Sharper, Cedric Griffin, etc. but it's just not enough right now. Give Adrian Peterson some time to establish himself and let these guys find a franchise QB and they can be reckoned with. Not saying they'll only win 3 games this year, just that I think they'll be lucky to get 7 or 8.
I understand the Bears D is not in top form. But cmon, they are sufferin from more injuries than anyone. It's going to be a repeat, no one can stop em when they are on their A game

IF, and it's a big if, my Fighting Irish keep the game close against Penn State, not necessarily win, but keep it within 10, would you give them a good shot to win next week at Michigan?
The Wolverines can't do anything right, they have no momentum, and while it's probably not serious, Henne's health status is up in the air. Oregon is simply annihilating them. If Claussen proves to be effective, or at least somewhat effective, what do you think the Irish's chances are of winning next week?
(Yes, I know that we're gonna lose this week so I'm looking ahead to next week)
4 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoHow do you think Michigan's next recruiting class will pan out?
Lloyd Carr: I want you to come to our school so we can lose our reputation of paying D1-AA schools $400,000 to embarrass us in front of our 100,000+ crowd.
Wolverine Fans, Get a good look at Hart and Manningham while you can because you ain't seeing anything like that anytime soon!
Let's play a game of Over/Under: Michgan gets 0.5 Blue Chip Recruits next year. What do you think?
1 AnswerFootball (American)1 decade agoTiger Fans...?
How does it feel getting owned by of all teams the Royals in the 1st inning 5-0?
I mean that is EMBARRASSING!
And don't pull any of this KC has vastly improved crap, they still suck as always and have no post-season hopes and won't for awhile.
How's star prospect Andrew Miller now? I mean, the Royals!!!
6 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoJason Giambi Must Feel Lucky, Right?
I mean now he can take steroids all he wants because people know that he's doing it, they still like him, and he can't punished for it!
I don't get why some people hate Bonds, some people support Bonds, some people hate Giambi, while others think people should get off his back because he's "earned it", some Palmero supporters instantly turned against him when he was asked in court, and it's just all confusing.
And the people that hate Bonds, support Giambi, and vice versa. Why do some steroid abusers get liked and unpunished while others get hated like no other? It seems like people are forgetting about the real issue which is THEY ARE CHEATING!!! Can someone sort this out for me?
11 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoTiger Fans...Hate to say, I told you so!?
Hmmm, who said Thursday night the Sox would sweep this weekend because the Tigers always suck against the Sox? O ya, I did! Which Tiger fans laughed and said THEY would sweep the Sox...um, all of them!
No apologies needed, I forgive you.
Now since I wasted 5 points to boast, I guess I'll ask a question: Who do you see winning the AL Wild Card? I'm sure the Angels, Indians, and Red Sox will win their respective divisions. It pretty much boils down to the Mariners, Tigers, Yankees, Twins and Blue Jays (Oakland is next at 8.5 GB's). I'm going to go with the Mariners as long as their hitting stays consistent because apart from Putz, their pitching hasn't been the best this year. King Felix and Batista have been good, but they need Weaver. Tigers are on a meltdown and Yankees pitching is always a question apart from Wang. And for the Twins and Jays, we'll wait till they at least close the gap to 2 games. Who do you see taking the AL Wild Card?

18 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoHUGE Blockbuster Fantasy Trade...?
Usually I can decide for myself about fantays trades. But I could use some input on this 12-player deal:
12 team, H2H, 6x6 standard keeper league with the additional stats being OBP and holds.
I get:
Justin Morneau
Manny Ramirez
Ryan Braun
Brandon Phillips
Yovani Gallardo
Ian Snell
I give:
Travis Hafner
Carl Crawford
Vernon Wells
Kevin Youkilis
Brian McCann
Mariano Rivera
I am really considering this. Braun and Gallardo would be dynamite keepers, we get 4 so I think I'd keep them and 2 on my original team, Andrew Miller and either Jeremy Guthrie or Sean Marshall.
After the deal, my outfield would look like Manny, Matt Holliday, and Hideki Matsui. I have Mauer to replace McCann, and I'd fill my utility spot currently occupied by Youkilis with Mike Lowell. I also can afford to lose Rivera I think because I have Borowski, Valverde, and Lidge who just got the closers role back.
What do you think of this trade? (If your wondering why I have lots of 1st and 2nd rounders, it was an auction)
4 AnswersFantasy Sports1 decade agoDo you expect Paxson and the Bulls to make a big move?
Either a trade or a big free agent signing? He's apparently showed interest in Kevin Garnett, Shawn Marion, and/or Jermaine O'Neal (like anyone hasn't shown interest in these guys).
Do you think he'll actually pull the trigger for a low post scoring presence? Since Noah won't solve our problem and will probably go down as one the worst draft picks in Bulls history.
Also, who would we get rid of if a trade did go through?
Or of course you can tell me why they won't make a move.
9 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoChris Carpenter Trade?
In my 12 team, 5x5, Roto league, I was offered this deal:
I get: Chris Carpenter
I give: Kevin Youkilis
At first I thought no brainer since Carpenter should be back mid to late July accoring to La Russa. But then I looked at Youkilis and he is really holding together every category in my Roto league. .331 avg, 45 runs, 36 RBI's, I didn't know he was producing THAT well.
However, my pitching is extremely weak, I have Roy Halladay and Jeremy Guthrie, but everyone else is just decent (Gorzelanny, Vargas, DiNardo, and Howell).
Should I accept this deal?
4 AnswersFantasy Sports1 decade agoFantasy Baseball Trade?
12 team, Roto, 5x5 standard scoring
I get: Andruw Jones
I give: Bobby Abreu, Barry Bonds
My other outfielders aside from Abreu and Bonds are Kevin Youkilis and Josh Willingham. Gary Sheffield is also OF eligible.
I know Andruw Jones is struggling MIGHTILY but when I look at his stats he still has a decent 11 HR's and 42 RBI's. However in that roto league, I am currently receiving 11 points for HR's and 11 again for RBI's (out of 12) so it's not like I need the only stats he provides.
Do I accept this trade?
7 AnswersFantasy Sports1 decade agoAlright, I'm cursed!?
Ok in my 12-team, 5x5, Roto league. I'm sure every starter on my team has been on the DL at least once. Let's just review:
Rich Harden
Jason Schmidt
Chris Carpenter
Roy Halladay
Chris Capuano
A.J. Burnett (just injured recently!)
Dontrelle Willis (just got injured today! HOORAY!)
I mean at some point it's ridiculous. Halladay's been back for awhile and Harden has almost fully recovered. But since I've had so many guys on the DL, I've been living off Jeremy Guthrie, Justin Germano, Chad Gaudin, and Sergio Mitre. I don't know what to do. Either:
1. Sort of "rebuild" my staff for the future. That means dropping Carpenter, Schmidt, and Willis (we get 3 DL's) and picking up Yovanni Gallardo, J.P. Howell, and Tom Gorzelanny. I'm currently in 3rd so I don't know if this move sabotages this year's chances.
2. Wait for these guys to come off the DL and hope for the best out of my replacements for the rest of the year. I mean, top 3 places earn money so I'm good where I'm at for right now, lol.
3 AnswersFantasy Sports1 decade agoFantasy Basebal League Question?
In a 12-man, 5x5 roto league, I have probably the worst SP's in the league. I currently am receiving 1 point in ERA and WHIP and those are really holding me back. I'm currently in 3rd. 4th is only 1.5 points back so I could lose my spot and move down to 4th place (this is a league with my friends and top 3 spots earn money).
A manager just dropped Lenny DiNardo and he is currently on waivers. I have the 2nd spot on the wire and am fairly confident I will get him because the team 1st on the wire already has good pitching and no one to drop. My staff is currently: Roy Halladay, Jeremy Guthrie, Claudio Vargas, and Tom Gorzelanny. I now only have 4 pitchers since both Chris Capuano and Jason Schmidt went on the DL. I don't really wanna waste my 2nd spot on DiNardo if he won't produce. So do i get LD or keep my wire slot safe and pick up someone like Mike Mussina, Ervin Santana, Dave Bush, Jeff Suppan, or Chris Sampson? LD's ERA and WHIP are drasticly better then everyone above I mentioned.
