If I don't know what I'm talking about, I don't answer. Now that doesn't mean I'm never wrong, but I try my best to avoid giving bad information. I'm not here for the points, people. I will tell it like it is. If you are right, I will tell you so. If you are wrong, I will tell you that, too. You can feel free to message or E-mail me if you want more, or have something to say. I welcome all comments and feedback. I stand behind what I say here, and everywhere else. NOTE: My opinions are mine, and mine alone. I do not represent anyone but myself. Not my wife, not the Army, not my hometown, and not ANYONE else.

  • Reloading for the anal-retentive.?

I can't think of anything more I can do. After cleaning all of the cases, including the primer well, I weigh the casings and only use those what are within a grain or so of each other, and are of the same manufacture. The casings are neck sized and trimmed to .001 in. tolerance. Bullets are weighed, and anything .1 grain off is tossed into the plinker pile. Powder charges are also measured to .1 grain and bullets are seated and casing length is also measured to .001 in.

Now the question is this... What else can I do to make my ammo more consistant?

    Here's the specs.

    22-250 Remingtom.

    Winchester Brass, at 1.902 length

    35 grains Hodgedon Varget

    52 Grain Hornady A-Max

    COL 2.350 in.

    Est. 3700 fps.

Shoots about 3/4 minute from a Ruger M77mk2 Target Gray, in the prone across a sandbag, at 200 yds. Right now I'm experimenting with OAL for the best grouping.

  • Cable Modem Keeps Cutting Off My Router?

I have a cable modem from Mediacom, and I'm feeding it to my Linksys WRT54g Router (DD-WRT Firmware). One computer is hard-wired, the rest are wireless. My Router is cloning the mac address of the hardwired computer, since it was the one originally hooked up to the cable modem. My problem is that the cable modem keeps hanging up on the router and refusing to give it an IP address. Sometimes I can power cycle the router, other times I have to power cycle the cable modem, and sometimes I have to unplug the router from the modem and plug back in the computer, before the D@mned thing will give up an IP Address. My neighbor and I share the internet bill for one account, so losing the router is a big pain in the @ss. Any ideas?

  • How do you define Hooah?

My wife is the Family Readiness Coordinator for my Army Reserve unit. She is working on putting together a guide for Army spouses, that explains things to the families of our Soldiers. There are many guides out there, but she wants one that is more specifically tailored to our unit. We are trying to define the word "HOOAH"

I know this word all too well. I know what it means, but we are trying to figure out a way to explain it to families in a way that is easy to understand. Any suggestions?

  • Soldier quality of life in Afghanistan?

I haven't been deployed to Afghanistan yet, and I'm wondering what kind of resources we have there. I can't imagine that it's as built up as Iraq. Any creature comforts that I might hope for? I'd appreciate some feed back from Soldiers who have been deployed there.

Please, no answers from people who haven't been there themselves. I'm looking for real information here.

  • What do you say to people who are afraid of guns?

This frustrates me. It seems that a lot of people are absolutely terrified of firearms, almost as if they expect them to jump off the table and bite them! I'm sure I'm not the only one who's gotten into a debate on guns with someone like this. I know that a gun is nothing more than a screwdriver or a hammer, and does nothing more than the will of it's operator.

What do you say to try to ease peoples' minds? How do you explain to them that it's not the gun, but the criminal who hurts people?

  • Finger adjustable turret adapter for rifle scope?

I am looking for a screw-on adapter for a rifle scope with conventional windage and elevation turrets, that would allow me to move them by hand, instead of needing to use a screwdriver all the time. I don't even know if they exist or not, and I've never seen one, but I've heard of them, and if they're real, I would like to see about buying a pair for my scope. I can't afford to buy a better scope right now. Has anyone seen these, and know where I can find some?

  • The Death Penalty - is it working? What do you think?

I have been involved with an interesting conversation with another Answers member, after I made a comment to her about something I saw a quote on her profile, saying "Why do we kill people who kill people, to show that killing people is wrong?" I do not have record of my first comment, but it was along the lines that we must kill sometimes to stop the killer from hurting innocent people. Speaking from a Soldier's standpoint, I argued that, while it is certainly not to be taken lightly, it is sometimes necessary to take someone's life to stop them from harming another.

Obviously, I misunderstood the question. I realize now that she was not referring to a police officer firing his weapon in the line of duty, but of execution of criminals. Here was her response to my comment, and my reply...

    OTHER PERSON:

See, I disagree. I have read some of your answers and i think you are a very smart person.oK, so you got your morals and values and i got mine.

As a acareer soldier you say -yes. While I say - no, being an Amnesty International member.Killing is not the answer. You have other severe punishments to this.

    ME:

When referring to punishment, I agree with you, to a certain extent. Please understand that I am a Soldier, not a Judge. It is not my duty to decide whether or not a man should be put to death as punishment for his crime. My decisions regarding the matter are based upon stopping a lethal threat from harming an innocent human being. Such concepts are simply not interchangable. A Soldier cannot decide whether or not to fire his weapon using the same information that a Judge uses to swing his gavel.

However, after researching some information from the Department of Justice website, I have found something interesting. Looking at a graph representing the execution rates in the United States from the years 1930 to 2007 you can see a pattern. Execution rates were the highest around 1935, at approx. 200 executions, and dropping downward in a jagged line to 0 in the late 1960's. Then, in the early 80's, the numbers started to rise a bit, then spiked quickly in the 90's to a high of about 100 around the year 2000.

When compared with violent crime statistics (rape, robbery, aggravated and simple assault, and homicide) you can see another interesting pattern. After the execution rates began to spike in the 90's, the violent crime rate, which had held relatively consistantly until that point, began to drop considerably. Comparing these 2 graphs shows that, when the execution rate went up, the violent crime rate went down.

I hold life to be a priceless posession, and it is something I hold much respect for. As a general standard, I do not personally endorse the death penalty for convicted criminals. However, after looking at the facts, I must confess that it does seem to be working.

Here are the links to the information I have reviewed.

    -----OK------

Now that I gave you all of that to read, I would love to hear some other peoples' thoughts and insight on the matter. I believe that it is not entirely as simple as what has been posted here. There must be many more factors to include. What do you think??

  • I need a new RTS game to play?

For the longest time, I've been playing Empire Earth. It's a little old, but I just love everything about it. Recently I heard about Empire Earth 3 and promptly went out and bought it, think "oooh this is gonna be GREAT!"

But it's just not the same. I like the slower pace of the original, and the complexity of it, that the new version just doesn't have.

Can anyone suggest a newer civilization-type, advancing through the years, kick A$$ rts game for me to take a look at???

  • Adobe Dreamweaver, trying to refer to a text file for site content.?

Creating a site for my client who isn't very computer literate. He wants to be able to place news updates online regularly, and I think the best way is to have him type his news in a text file, that the webpage would display in a table. I'm not sure how to do it though. Any suggestions or alternatives?
