Will a Dell Optiplex GX745 be capable of handling Windows 7 64-bit?
I'm thinking of getting a refurbished Dell system from ebay, but it has a 32-Bit version of Windows 7... I'd PREFER 64-Bit for the RAM aspects of it. Will a Dell Optiplex GX745 be capable of handling Windows 7 64-bit, or am I STUCK as 32-Bit usage?
1 AnswerDesktops9 years agoHow does messaging on an iPod touch work?
Right now, I have a LG 500g from Tracfone. Truth be told, I hate it. LOL. But it works for phone calls and texting (which is MAINLY what I do)
I saw where the iPod Touch has free texting through iMessages, but the way it reads, it's only to iPods, iPhones and iPads. How would this work to text to a non-Apple product user (like someone with a Tracfone)?

1 AnswerDesktops9 years agoWhat version of Windows 7 should I get?
I'm going to stepping into the Windows 7 Era... However, I'm a bit confused on the version of Windows 7 I would need. I'm looking for the VERSION (Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional) that would be best suited for my needs/uses.
I'm an amateur graphic designer, so my most common activities will be...
~Usual web browsing (email, youtube, LiveJournal/Facebook, etc)
~Music
~Writing
~Graphic Design (using Adobe CS3 Master Collection)
That being said, which VERSION of Windows 7 would be best for me, Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional?
Any suggestion would be awesome. Thanks!

My friend received a collection of previously owned Sims 3 games. Being previously owned, they have been registered on The Sims 3 website.
My friend would like to register the games under her OWN Sims 3 account.
How would my friend be able to do this? Is it even Possible to do?
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games9 years agoWindows 7 booting into boot manager now?
Roommate has Windows 7... a few days ago, she uninstalled The Sims 3 and all expansion packs she has. She even did a manual search to removed files associated with The Sims 3.
Now, whenever she boots her system, it boots into the Boot Manager, where she has to select Windows 7 as the OS to boot into, even though there is only one OS on the internal HD.
The system works PERFECTLY once into Windows 7, but this is annoying to her and makes her nervous.
Could removing The Sims 3 have ANYTHING to do with this, and how can she 'reset' it to not show the Boot Manager when booting the system?
System Specs:
Processor Type: Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E5700
Hard Drive Size: 500GB
Processor - Clock Speed: 3.0GHz
Multimedia Drive: N
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Graphics Type: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD
System Ram: 4GB
1 AnswerDesktops9 years agoCould it be a motherboard issue?
Last week, my HP NC8000 laptop gave me a blue screen and now, it won't even boot enough to let me get into BIOS, therefore booting with Ubuntu or Knoppix is out of the equation.
When It went to the BSOD, all I was doing was re-checking a price for a friend on Target's website.
It did reboot ONCE, and then after about 5 minutes, the system powered off with NO WARNING.
Now, It'll attempt to boot and shut RIGHT off, and repeat this cycle until I either a. catch it right when it restarts and power it back down, or b. remove the battery.
Could this be a faulty motherboard? If not, what else could the issue be?

3 AnswersAdd-ons9 years agoWhat computer should I be looking for?
So, I'm thinking about upgrading my system. I'm an amateur graphic designer, and while I feel more 'at home'/comfortable on an XP, I know I need to upgrade.
My most common activities will be...
~Usual web browsing (email, youtube, LiveJournal/Facebook, etc)
~Music
~Writing
~Graphic Design (using Adobe CS3 Master Collection)
I'd prefer to stay within the Windows platform, as I have the Adobe collection in Windows format, and would prefer NOT to deal with a Windows simulator for one program/suite.
Should I be looking into a desktop model or a laptop model? What should I be looking for in terms of Processor speed, RAM, HD size?
Any help is appreciated.
3 AnswersDesktops9 years agoPhotoshop CS3/CS3 Master Collection on a Windows 7 system?
I run Windows XP SP3 and My friend Cade got me a copy of CS3 Master Collection for Christmas. He didn't think XP would handle CS 5 anything.
After I got my FINAL Christmas gift from my adoptive mom, a new digital camera, I realized my old WinXP SP3 laptop base doesn't read the SDHC card that I got with it. Luckily her system read the card JUST fine.
I'd LIKE to update my system, but I DON'T want to be out of the Adobe products either!
I've heard mixed feedback about it. An online friend who installed it on her Win7 system said it WORKED, but it made her system performance DRAG. Other people have said that it WILL NOT install... it gives errors and will not activate.
Has anyone successfully installed Photoshop CS3/CS3 Master Collection on a Windows 7 system? Will I need to run the programs in 'Compatibility for Windows XP' mode?
1 AnswerSoftware9 years agoWhich is the cheaper way to upgrade a computer?
I'm on a tight budget, so I'm trying to figure out the cheapest way to upgrade my computing needs.
Right now, I have a HP NC8000 laptop connected to a separate monitor. (The backlight went in the screen, but the actual system works wonderfully) I have 1 GB RAM, 1.7 GHz Intel Centrino processor with an 80 GB hard drive, running Windows XP SP3.
I'm perfectly happy using Windows XP SP3, and a few of my preferred programs aren't really compatible with Windows 7, so I'm not really concerned with the price of an OS. I'm just wondering if it would be cheaper overall to buy the upgraded parts (RAM, HD, Processor, etc) one part at a time or if it's better to save up and purchase a 'newer' Windows XP system from ebay.
Opinions would be greatly appreciated.
7 AnswersOther - Hardware9 years agoAdjusting the screen size?
I have an HP NC8000 laptop. The screen's backlight was going, so I removed the laptop's screen and connected an external monitor (an Acer V193w) to the laptop base.
When I was using the laptop screen, my resolution was 1400 x 1050... very comfortable for my eyes and made graphic designing easier to do.
Now, I have the resolution of 1280 x 1024, and everything is blurry and it makes everything look disproportional. 100x100 icons look slightly rectangular and pixel text looks VERY blurry.
Is there a way to fix this so my graphics look clear and crisp again? Would restoring the system to factory settings allow me to use my original resolution?

2 AnswersSoftware10 years agoHow does elderly/disabled housing work?
I'm a physically disabled 32 year old woman and am thinking of looking into going into an elderly/disabled apartment complex.
However, I have an able-bodied friend/caretaker who my mother entrusted me to before she died in 2001, to look out for me and make sure no one takes advantage of me. This is her full-time 'job' and I do pay her for it.
I don't trust too many people, so I would NOT want a 'state-agency-issued' caretaker. I wouldn't feel as safe with them as I do with my friend.
Would the elderly/disabled apartment complex allow my friend to live with me, even though she is able-bodied?
3 AnswersPeople with Disabilities10 years agoCan he actually make/force me to help?
Here's the situation... I live with a friend and I pay her father rent, since he owns the house. I am NOT related to either of these people. I am also physically disabled (to the point of using a cane to walk) and cannot do many things around the house. I do the dishes on a daily basis and I keep my room as neat as it can be, considering I have to share a room with the friend, even though there IS another bedroom that could be used.
When we moved in, the agreement was to keep our room clean and take care of our clothes when they were washed. Nothing was said about helping, in essence, the landlord with maintenance of the house and/or land.
Now, The father is always yelling at me for not helping them (himself and his wife) with outside chores. I try to explain that I would be in the way and that I would be of no help, since I cannot move freely. This leads to more yelling that I am lazy and I just don't WANT to help. Mind you, I get up every day and do the dishes without complaint.
I feel that since I pay rent every month and receive no respect in return (along with being forced to share a room with my friend, I am subjected to ridicule and verbal/mental abuse every day) that I do NOT have to help with outside chores. If I lived in an actual apartment complex, I wouldn't be expected to mow the grass and/or shovel the sidewalk.
What ARE my rights is this situation? Can he actually MAKE me help, even though I am not related to them and I pay my rent every month on time?
