Why is marijuana illegal in the United States?
I take this as a very serious topic. I expect everyone to debate this in a mature way. I am pro-legalization
My first point is that almost every over the counter medication has a statistical death rate. These are deaths directly accounted to the human bodies’ reaction to the medication. Marijuana has never been attributed to a direct human fatality.
My second point is that the government and media, as well as their "special interest groups" are the primary reason that marijuana is demonized. This is evident in the 1930's trends in the paper, chemical, drug, and energy industries. (If you do not understand the conflict of interests in the media and government concerning these issues, please take time and research this area.)
My third point. By keeping marijuana a controlled substance we are putting money directly into illegal drug dealer’s hands. (This gets used for manufacturing and shipping of other illegal substances, for weapons, for employees, etc.) Everyone always argues that marijuana is a gateway drug. Get real!!!! Alcohol is a real gateway drug that kills every day. If people didn't go to drug dealers to get marijuana they wouldn't have the connections to obtain harder drug. (Beer is a real gateway, 14% of beer drinkers have tried cocaine.) Don't blame marijuana for failed parenting, please. I have had plenty of friends that do not do hard drugs because their parents explained the real consequences.
My last point. Marijuana is praised in medicine, even "hushed" government sponsored studies show this. Doctors everywhere admit to the medical benefits using marijuana with many treatments and medications. Please don't say that marijuana smoke contains chemicals that are harmful. Anyone who has smoked both marijuana and tobacco will admit that marijuana needs to be smoked much less often and marijuana also is less harsh. Also there are ways to avoid any possible ingested chemical issues; by using a ventilator, by ingesting whole, by using a water hookah.
15 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhat (other than T.V. media) would allow Americans to make an informed, objective choice for President?
This question arose when I found myself frustrated with media's biased view points. I felt that I was being bombarded with news that was twisted to meet 'someones' agenda. I was looking for a place that I could find past voting records, and policies. I found vote smart, but they were only online. So I thought of a few things that might help us to make better decisions.
1. Have a info system on television that is unbiased. How?
2. Make these records manditory at the onset of an election.
3. Have manditory televised debates, mono e mono, NO spiked media questions.
4. Make media state their sources, and hold them accountable for false statements/ slandering. (Right of speach is important/ but so is lying)
5. Please add more/improve if you can think of an idea.
thankyou
4 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy prices of fliights are cheaper than train rides?
I am confused. Some one please tell me why my 2 hr flight from florida to New York is only $69, but if I had taken amtrak it would cost $180 not to mention the 22 hr vibrato ride.
3 AnswersOther - United States1 decade agoWhy can't we have more parties? I want choices. Or more candidates the whole time.?
My question come straight from the heart. I had always asked this question but didn't come to the full relization of it until a little music store closed down on my street. When I asked people why they stopped shopping there they said, "I only had a couple choices". Now on something as unimportant as a music store we the people stand up and say something, but throw in politics and we just sit as our choices are amde for us. I feel that if the electorial process was restructured inorder to give more choices, we could make a better decision.
P.S. Please be nice. I already under stand this is a stupid question with an obvious answer. What I want to know is why people sit and do nothing.

5 AnswersElections1 decade agoOut of all the original canidates, which on would be your choice for the presidency?
I found a very interesting web site that has compiled a complete list of voting records and policies for each canidate. The menus are a little confusing but the information is priceless. Please be objective and not only resond Obama, Clinton, McCain. There were many, many more canidates, even if we never heard of them. Have a look. http://forums.vote-smart.org/
17 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy are United States citizens limited by the media to only two major party canidates for president?
Does the media feel that real hard working americans, the majority, can't be trusted with choosing for themselves on who they feel is the best choice for president? This can be shown most evidently by the immature use of power during the republican debates. If anyone feels that Ron Paul was not patronized and rediculed by FOX news duriing these debates has yet to do the research to find the, now leaked, 'missing footage' that shows how a real amerian stands up to the mis-empowered T.V. media's lies. If you don't feel the onslaught of ever dwindleling liberties, watch cspan and watch the government take away your last 'freedom of speach', the free internet. They are doing this with fury while the T.V, media keeps the public busy with two canidates that are recorded liers. BE A GOOD AMERICAN AND DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU VOTE, BEFORE WE LOOSE ALL OUR RIGHTS!
