Are clic clac sofabeds still being manufactured? (UK)?
The mattress on mine is getting very tired and needs replacing, but I cant seem to find them on sale except as secondhand, which is pointless, as it would probably be no better. Does anyone know who makes/made them, or suggest where I can get a new one?
All the modern designs seem to be extendable, and I dont have the space-or patience!
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoWhich star am I looking at?
Often, and especially the last few nights, I can see an exceptionally bright star 'close' to the moon- On friday night at 20.00 the moon was a thin crescent on its side-looking like a smile- and the bright star was directly above. Very few other stars were visible at the time, but this one was very bright. Venus? Viewed from London, United Kingdom.
8 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoWhat is the origin of the hotel corridor visual gag in film & cartoons?
This one has been done so many times. Visually, you are looking down a corridor with a number of doors on each side. As a chase sequence, characters run in and out of the rooms, in less and less order and sense, often the chased becoming the chasers, & sometimes with surreal add ons such as extra characters. examples: Scooby Doo, Benny Hill, Family Guy and others. Can anybody say where this gag originated? Does it go back to the silent era?
1 AnswerOther - Entertainment1 decade agoSplitting an avi file into <20mb pieces?
I have an 85mb music video I want to send as an e-mail attachment. I use Yahoo, and they have a 20mb limit on
attachments, so I need to split it and send it in several bits.
Winrar doesn't seem to want to break it down small enough-
it just creates one archive.
Nero 8 might do it, but how could it be reassembled at the other end?
The basic problem is that I'm not computer savvy enough
to work either program well.
I've tried right click on the avi, chosen winrar compress and e-mail, but the system doesn't recognise yahoo mail- it tries to use my old ISP details, which wont work.
My system runs Windows XP Home with SP2.
Any quick clever ideas anyone? Remember, it needs to be simple- I'm useless at settings, configurations and technospeak.
Thanks.
7 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoAdvice on alcohol withdrawal?
I am presently trying to attemp a home detox.
I try to reduce my daily intake, but am finding
it very difficult with the DTs in the mornings.
No matter how hard I try to only allow myself
a few sips, rather than the sort of amounts
that my body is screaming at me to take to
make the misery go away, I can't seem to get
past more than four hours of the sorts of
pains and indignities I have to go through.
I understand to keep well clear of medications,
especially anything paracetamol based.
I have Valium(Diazepam) but know not to
take any without at least 8 hours of abstinence
first.
I have tried meditative, yogic and breathing
techniques during the worst hours of the
day.
I have a very small amount of cannabis, but
again, do not wish mix substances.
Has anybody out there with personal experience
of being in the same situation any practical tips
on how they have got through it?
Thank you. Kevin. , <bofhof55@yahoo.co.uk>
12 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoDo I need a special media player for 1080 downloads?
My new TV is set up for 1080p (LG 50" Plasma).
It's set up as my PC monitor, and it handles HD720 films or TV
programmes that I've downloaded fine-no problem.
However, when I download something that's in full 1080 -
usually a movie, and in WMV or Matroska format ( I have the codec for Matroska) the picture and soundtrack jerk. I have several players- WM, VLC, Nero, Media Player Classic- they either give up, won't load, or give the stuttering effect.
It's as if the PC can't process the volume of information fast enough, or am I making an assumption?
The PC is new(ish), has 992MB of RAM, 1.81 GHz, an AMD Sempron Processor 3400+, is running Windows XP and has
40G available internally and over 500G externally as space.
Any thoughts, anyone? Thanks.
2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoLena Headey in BBC film called "Fair Game"?
This was a BBC drama shown in 93 or 94. As far as I can tell, never released on VHS or DVD. I have a copy, but the tape is badly degraded. Has anybody out there got a copy in good
condition that could be transferred to DVD?
4 AnswersDrama1 decade agoHow do I restrict access on a user account?
My nephew & neice are coming to visit, so I set up and passworded a user account for them.
However, it still gives full access to the contents of C/ and E/.
I didn't think it would do that, otherwise why bother?
I want to be able to block them having access to any files I deem "inappropriate". Can I do that? If so , how?
Thanks, Kevin.

6 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoAny news on Stephen King's eyesight?
I read somewhere about a year back that he was suffering from progressively deteriorating eyesight, and would go blind fairly soon. I haven't been able to find out any more on the web.
News? or a site link? Thanks.
2 AnswersCelebrities1 decade agoHow can I use headphones on my new TV?
My new TV is an LG Plasma with input sockets of every type,
but the only audio output is what the manual calls a
TV Digital Audio(Optical) Output Port. There is no headphone jackplug or red/white output socket. I've asked in electrical shops about some sort of converter, but nothing suitable seems to exist.
As I live in a bedsit, I can't just whack up the volume and I don't want to have to buy an audio system just to be able to use headphones!
Any ideas, anyone?
6 AnswersHome Theatre1 decade agoRoute from Marco Polo Airport Venice to Lido?
I'm going there soon, arriving at about 10.00pm with a heavy suitcase and a tired girlfriend! What's the best way to get to Lido? Never been there before and don't speak any Italian.
Which ferry? Do they run late in evening? Direct, or have to change somewhere? Length of journey? Getting tickets?
Please give me an idiot's guide!
