  • Difficulty putting my 1 year old to bed?

My little boy has just turned 1 and I am really struggling to put him to bed at night! During the day, he will have a morning and afternoon nap for around 30-60 mins, usually about 40mins. During the day, he can be quite easy to put down for a nap. It may sometimes take about 20mins but it is relatively easy.

I do try to keep to a routine, he is usually tired and crabby from about 5.30pm but I keep playing and reading to him. At about 6pm, I will run a bath for him, which he loves. He will usually have a play for about 20mins. Once he is out and dry, I will give him his evening milk drink. He will then sit for about 5 mins. I have tried being very quiet at this point and reading to him.

No matter what I do, he gets a second wind and wants to play. I can sometimes be up to 8.30pm just trying to get him to sleep. He will start to doze and then will wake.

I am getting quite exhusted by this and would welcome some advice.

  • My little baby boy is teething - help!?

My little boy is 10mths old and is teething. He is dribbling all the time, has red checks and just will not stop crying. I have tried Calpol and Bonjela.

My husband and I have been up for two solid nights with him as he will doze - only when cuddled but will still wake up and be really beside himself.

Can anyone give any more practicle help for us?

  • Best complete dry dog food?

I have two Border Terrier Bitches aged 3 years old. They have for the past twelve months been fed once a day on bakers complete. Prior to that, I used tinned food but found that their poo's were getting quite 'sloppy'

My problem now is that one dog in particular will have lots of small poo's a day. It can be at least five times a day. I thought that Border Terriers should only poo once or twice a day. Should I be considering a change in food?

They have constant access to water which is changed at least twice a day.

They also used to have recurrant anal gland problems before I changed them from tinned food so I would prefer not to go back to tinned food.

  • Weaning Advice?

My baby is 24wks and has suddenly embraced weaning! I tried baby rice etc and not interested and then suddenly has throughly enjoyed puried veg. I have been offering HIPP jars and he has been eating roughly nearly a full jar of veg and then a good quarterof a jar of fruit. In the morning he has been eating baby porridge. I have gradually introduced a taster of solids (again veg) at lunch time. He has automatically dropped his bottle and I although I still offer it, his consumption has reduced.

When can I introduce meat into his diet? The HIPP jars seem to suggest that I can, but I am not sure and don't want to introduce it too early. I know that he is still too young for Gluten and therefore have not offered that at all.

I don't want to rush him and do harm, but I would like him to experience a full range of foods as possible.

  • Post Natal Depression?

I have been diagnosed with PND to the extent that I have been prescribed Anti-depressants. I just want to know how others in the community have managed this problem.

I am trying to mix with other mums as much as possible and that is helping and I am going for a walk each day with my baby. My husband is struggling to understand the problem but is doing his hardest to help.

With support from my amazing health visitor, I am not taking the medication and I know that I am in for the long haul. Each day is different and some days are worse than others.

I really need constructive advise from people who have been in the situation.

  • My baby has green poo ... why?

He is 6 weeks old and is being fed on Farley's. He is a well baby but does have colic at the moment.

He has one 'dirty' nappy a day, all the rest are just wet.

    Is this normal?
