I'm 17. I'm not Korean, I just liked the name. I like reading, writing, drawing, science lectures, debates, mythology, debates between science and religion, science (physics especially and I have a strong interest in evolution too). I am an aspiring theoretical physicist, writer, Youtuber, and maybe even a composer.
Is this strange? What do you think about this?
I have a really weird problem with people touching my neck. I don't like it when people touch my neck. I start to cringe, pull away, and I suddenly feel scared, nervous and violated. My body temperate also starts to feel like it raises and I begin to sweat a little because I feel so uncomfortable when my neck is touched. I have the same reaction if anyone just hovers over my neck. I don't like any sort of contact from others with my neck. The only person I allow to touch my neck and don't mind touching my neck is myself.
Is this a sort of phobia? An insecurity, maybe? I mean, I am insecure about myself in general. About my gender, being 17, my goofiness, my looks, how I do things, the way I look at things, etc. I'm insecure about pretty much everything about myself. I'm also a bit of a loner, I'm shy, don't really talk much in public, I get about average grades, I'm not very popular, I don't have much luck with getting a guy that I like (only ever had one, and he didn't like being seen with me in public because I was considered the weird kid), I read a lot, I watch a lot of science lectures and debates, and I don't have many friends. I didn't use to feel this uncomfortable with my neck being touched, so somewhere along the lines, something happened to make me feel uncomfortable with it being touched.
So, are there any phobias about the neck being touched, or do you think it is solely just an insecurity issue? I'm really thinking it's an insecurity issue based on what I've said about myself above, but I'm just curious as to what others think.
2 AnswersPsychology8 years agoHow tall is Lawrence Krauss?
It's something I'm weirdly curious about, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.
But how tall is cosmologist/theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss? c:
3 AnswersPhysics8 years agoOut of curiosity: Do you believe in evolution? If not, why?
I want to sort of clear up any misconceptions about evolution I and several others have come across first though.
Modern humans did not evolve from modern apes or modern monkeys. We evolved from a common ancestor that we both diverged from millions and millions of years ago. The common ancestor looked like a monkey, so we most likely would have called it one. But it was not.
The common ancestor originated from Africa, and so all humans originated from Africa. We are "African Apes." We are one of the Great Apes. The Great Apes comprise of the Gorillas, Orangutans, Chimpanzees, Bonobos, and the Humans. We are the most evolved out of all of them.
This isn't for a sort of project in my high school or anything, it's solely out of curiosity. I'm curious to see how many people believe in evolution, and if not, I'm curious to know why.
4 AnswersBiology8 years agoSuggest me some composers under these genres please?
1.) Chillstep (I already know of Blackmill)
2.) German rock (I already know of Rammstein, Unheilig, Lafee, and Eisbrecher)
3.) Korean pop (I prefer the sound Loveholic and Jisun have over others. I already know of Bigbang, 2NE1, SNSD, KARA, G-Dragon, f(x), Brown Eyed Girls, 2PM, Super Junior, SHINee, T.O.P, 4Minute, Wonder Girls, and Beast,T-ARA, and Sistar.)
2 AnswersOther - Music8 years agoIs it possible that our belief in a god evolved from the evolutionary process?
I'm agnostic, but I tend to veer towards believing in some sort of god. I can't quite state so absolutely though. I usually say "I'm unsure, but it could be possible." I can't quite fully agree with atheism either though. I might hover towards a side a bit, but I never believe absolutely. I was never raised into a religion like most other kids, but my family did talk about God. So I think it may have been possible that even talking about that may have instilled in me a kind of belief, just as it would do if atheism were taught in a child's household instead. I've had a lot of looks at religion, and conveniently, the major ones like Islam, Christianity, etc. are centered around humans. Humans in religion are egocentric. Animals are not considered to be as important as we are, but humans ARE animals. The only difference is that we are a blight on this planet. If you take us away, the planet would be fine, whereas if you take away some other species, the ecosystem will be damaged. We're worthless to the planet, if you think about it. Other than our intelligence, what makes us so important? Is there something more?
In evolution, we evolved from a common ancestor that we share with apes. For those of you who are mistaken on evolution, no we did NOT evolve from apes/monkeys/whatever. So the question "if we evolved from apes, why are apes still around?" is worthless and should not even be asked anymore. We evolved from a common ancestor. It looked something like a monkey, so therefore we probably would have called it a monkey, but it was not. Our brains are much more developed. We can create music, art, and math. Beautiful demonstrations of our intelligence. We can actually look up and ask questions like "where did we come from? Why are we here?"
Looking at this and thinking about it, is it possible that our belief in a god originated from our evolution as well? I know there's no proof for this question, or at least as far as I know, but what are your opinions on the question at least? Or do you think that there IS some kind of god, and through evolution, we have gotten the chance to question it, and possibly figure it out in the future? (Although that does still sound egocentric for humans, but it's still something to think about I guess.) Or do you think there isn't still?
