I need to build a contraption that will be attachted to a spring so it will lower an egg with a dot of paint on it to the ground so it touches the ground but does not break the egg. I need to be able to calibrate the contraption so it will be usable for several springs with different constants.

The problem is... I'm not sure how to start. Can anyone help me or give me ideas on what to try?

So i've noticed how some states no longer have a Miss Rodeo pageant... I was just wondering how that happened and how a girl from one of those states could go about running for Miss Rodeo America... I am not interested at all in doing this, I was just wondering because I noticed my home state doesn't have a pageant and I find it hard to believe that Miss Rodeo America pageants could be put on without equal opportunity from each state to participate..

I have been considering going to school to become a breeding manager for a horse farm; I had heard that it was good field to go into,but I have little other information..

Does anyone know how many years it takes to get a degree? How many jobs are available? If its a good program/job to get into?

I'm only considering this,I get excellent grades in high school and am currently wanting to be a veterinarian, but since I love genetics so much, I thought being a breeding manager could be an even better match for me!

I just got a new felt cowboy hat, I like it except the shape of it is so severe it reminds me of a taco.. How can I steam and shape it to make the creases just widen and open the hat up a little? To make the "wings" of the hat spread out rather than standing straight up? Any advice, videos, or personal experiences would be appreciated.

P.S. I'd like to do it at home, and I have a steamer.

so I'm a junior in high school and I'm approaching the end of my third season in swimming. I literally learned to swim the strokes (I knew how to stay afloat and such) the beginning of my freshman year. I swim strictly freestyle in races but next year I'd like to try the IM

my 50 freestyle times are between 29-30 seconds and I'd like to get them down in the 26-27 by next year

my 100 freestyle times are 1:07-1:08 and I'd LOVE to have that under or close to 1 minute by next year

I'd also really like to try the 200 IM, I swam a 100 IM once in a relay meet and I really liked it but my breaststroke has some serious issues (basically my kick is terrible- i'm not even sure what I do or how to do it right)

I want to swim at LEAST 3-4 days a week all summer long, I'm going to start doing weightlifting, and I am going to put myself on a diet to drink more water and eat less sugar so I can lose weight and become faster

Are there any workouts you can help me with that will get me up to par this summer? I always just do the workouts my coaches give me, so making my own will be a struggle for me..

So i swim freestyle, and I tend to take a breathe every fourth stroke, so I am only breathing to my right side, I also only go into my flip turns with my right arm leading, which sometimes causes me to take an awkward double stroke with my right arm. I'm not an amazing swimmer, but I'm okay and I'd like to become better. I have a hard time breathing to my left side, I usually just get a mouthful of water when I try it in practice

Is breathing on only one side slowing me down?

If so, what exercises/stretches can I do that will help me become capable of breathing on my left side?

so my mom posted a picture on my facebook wall the other day, i didn't receive a notification when she posted it or when she commented on it, and it won't appear on my wall when i log in.. but she can see the pic on my wall when she logs in...? I just posted a pic on my wall, and it posted it, but after I navigated from my profile, when I returned to it, the picture was gone..

Hey all! I'm showing a mini for the first time in a few weeks. I've ridden and shown horses in hand before, but never a mini. I'm entered in halter classes, and a hunter class. I know basically what I need to get her to do during the classes, but any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated!! (expecially tips on what I myself should do during the class - showmanship has never been my specialty)

I have a Finepix 1500 camera, and I just dont know how to use the settings properly

I can see that their are the settings P, S, A, M, C, SP, a picture of a flower, and SRAUTO, but i'm not exactly sure what they mean...

so heres my questions

1) What do you do to set it to ACTION photos on the Finepix 1500 camera?

2) What kinds of settings do you use for indoor places?

3) What kinds of settings do you use for outdoor and very sunny places?

4) What have you found works best to be taking pictures for TONS of stuff, close ups, far away shots, action shots, and shots with varying brightness

Anything you can tell me helps (i'm totally lost with cameras)

How much of a coordination do you need between your cowboy boots, hat, and belt?? I'm running for rodeo princess and the pictures we have to take are coming up, and I just realized that I have a black hat, and black boots, but as for my belt... its brown... but then I was like, well I'll just wear a black belt, but the shirt I'm wearing is a bunch of pastel colors that would look better with brown.. and possibly kinda silly with black..

so the question is, Can I wear a brown belt with Black boots and a black hat?? Or will I look silly?

This probably sounds really silly, but the thing is, I've been giving myself such a hard time lately. I started riding about five years later than most of the people I know, and I feel so horribly inadequette. I never was able to get weekly lessons, but two summers ago I began riding weekly with trainer present (not a lesson though) and I got a bit better. I began leasing a horse last spring and over the summer I rode about four times a week (with lessons sometimes- they are expensive for my family) but this winter we actually had to start paying for my lease (I worked it off in the summer) so my lessons stopped all winter and I didnt get to ride very much at all :( This spring I signed up to run for rodeo princess, but I havent had much success with riding at all. my legs have weakened considerably (to be expected) but I feel hopeless, and everytime I see someone else ride, I rip on myself and think how much worse I am. I feel like a horrible rider, and I just dont know what to do, I've been flopping around quite a bit since I havent ridden pracitcally all winter (snow) and I'm having major confidence issues, I dont even think I should be running for rodeo princess...

Plus my horse wont pick up his left lead.. at all :( and I'm absolutely freaking out that I'm going to make a fool out of myself at the rodeo :(

So what should I do to build my confidence? Any tips on being able to gain leg strenght pretty quickly?? I've scheduled a lesson with my trainer this week, but I'm still worried that I'm a bad rider, and that I dont know how to ride well enough to even run for rodeo princess. :(

Okay so I just finished The Host by Stephenie Meyer, and I really liked it, after reading the "extra chapter" at the back of the book I was under the impression that a sequel would be coming out soon, so I googled it an got The Soul, and The Seeker, but no real information about either... is it actually confirmed that either are being written (or published) or is this another book that will probably be published in a lonnggg time (like Midnight Sun)... anything ya know about it would be great!! Hi guys! Okay so this spring I am going to need to do an interview (I'm competing for something) and I am guessing that I'll probably be pretty nervous (I've never had an offical interview before) See the thing is, I'm a total people person, but if I think about something too much I freeze up and start getting nervous - sometimes I talk really fast or none of my sentences will make sense :P I CAN do things like that though (I had to do a speach last year before an entire auditorium of people, including my entire class- I was EXTREMELY nervous and at the pratice nobody could hear anything I was saying, but at the actual event I was totally fine, I also couldnt move my eyes across the crowd because when I did I lost where I was- I had to stare fixidly at ONE thing) Since this is not a speach I will not know exactly what I'm going to say, so I can't "practice" like I did before my speach... I really wanna rock this interview :D any tips???

I have really dry hair because 1) its very curly and 2) I was on the swim team so my hair is still slightly chlorine damaged

i really want to grow my hair longer (its long now, but i mean like down by the middle of my back) but I want it to be healthy... have you ever used any really good shampoos that help hair growth and repair? I've used a lot of different things, but I would really like your oppinions =)

Okay so this is a long story so I need to start at the begining...

Last spring I was offered by my riding instructor the chance to lease a horse all summer. It was a really good offer and since my family cant afford a horse we jumped at the chance. The barn was about 45 minutes from my house, but my riding instrutor trained horses out their and offered me rides practically every day. In the fall I was able to continue leasing the horse (his name is Obie) and I got rides out to the barn on weekends from either my parents or my riding instructor. Obie is like my horse, his owner is really nice to me and does absolutly nothing with him and even refers to him as "your horse" just like almost everyone I know does. His owner pretty much thinks that I will lease him until I'm old enough to get a job and buy him. The barn he lives at (owned by Obie's owner) is a really poor rundown place, and his owner has absolutley no money to fix it up. There is a good number of business their now due to my riding instructor because she has brought TONS of business there.

But I found out a few weeks ago that she is going to buy a barn about 10 minutes from my house in the fall of 2011. I wasnt concerned because I was pretty sure I could buy Obie by then and get a job to work off his board (she also mentioned she was going to let people work off a portion of their board) So I was pretty happy. But then a few weeks ago at Obie's barn the ONLY arena's roof collapsed. They havent heard from the insurence company yet but if they dont get the money to rebuild it because of the amount of snow where I live, the barn is pretty much done for.

I found out today that my riding instructor is moving into her new barn this september so she can have places to work with her horses. At her new barn she is setting up a program where she is going to train young horses from a very good local breeder and when they are good enough she will pass them down to her advanced riders to lease, and she assumed that I would be one of them.

so heres my problem

if I stay at Obie's barn with him:

1) i have nobody to take lessons from

2) I dont have rides out their anymore

3) the lack of business due to my riding instructors will probably cause the place to get shut down and Obie to be sold

plus if the arena doesnt get rebuilt its probably going to go out of business and I'd have to give him up anyway

and if I go to the place where my riding instructor is moving I will probably get a different horse each year, its only 10 minutes away from my house, and I know all of the people that are their and their is plenty of help and friends around

but I dont want to leave my horse. It seems like everyone is expecting me to give Obie up so I can lease one of my riding instructors horses (a new one each year) I'm honored I was chosen as one of these "advanced riders" and I'm sure I could handle giving the horse up each year if I went in knowing I'd have too, but with Obie, me and his owner pretty much both thought that I would lease him until I could buy him, so he's pretty much mine :(

What should I do? I dont want to give Obie up :( Is their any other option?

Okay so I was new to showing last year so I borrowed my friends showshirt, I am welcome to use hers again but I'd like to get my own.

The problem is I was looking for them and dont seem to have any luck finding shirts that dont cost a thousand dollars! I am doing LOCAL shows, I need a nice western pleasure shirt (one thats not just a regular western shirt) but hopefully under $80

Am I wasting my time trying to find that cheap of a shirt? it can be used, but needs to be in at least good condition.

so any websites, stores, companies that you reccomend? how much should I be willing to pay for a western pleasure blouse/shirt? like I said this is just a local show circuit, I want to look good, but I'm not going to be showing at AQHA world shows or anything, so I dont need a thousand dollar shirt

Okay, so I'm not putting my pic out here but here is what i look like

I have an oval shaped face, longer-ish forhead, big eyes , light brown hair that is naturally curly (and very thick) and is curently down to the ends of my shoulderblades w/ side bangs that have somewhat grown out , and has layers

so here is the thing, I dont really like my hair short, I kind of want to go with a taylor swift style, but obviously my hair isnt THAT pefectly curly :( or maybe I'll go back to straigtening it... I dont know, oppinions are welcome please!!!

Okay so last night I saw New Moon. I thought it was fantastic, and I LOOOVED the books. here is my review of the movie (i'll start with the dislikes first cause its shorter)

dislikes

-they should have kept the blue tone lighting because it made the Cullens look "vampirish" they looked more human in new moon

-they made Esme look like a freak, her hair looked weird, and thats disapointing because when I watched twilight she was exactly like I thought she'd look like

-Carlisle hair looked like he had a combover (just a little)

-the sam wolf looked like my cat, which I happened to say out loud (by accident) and that sent the people in the rows behind me laughing like maniacs

Likes

-they followed the book almost completely, and other than the volturi fight w/ edward and demitri they didnt add a bunch of random crap that ruined the movie

-the dialoge was like identical to the book :D

-the sparkles on edward were perfecto ;)

-it was freaking amazing and all the actors were sooooo comfortable with eachother and their characters (in twilight kristen acted all weird and vauge, and you could tell rob had a problem with acting like he was all hot and perfect)

-bella dressed almost semi-normal

-the cullens eyes didnt have that creepy staring look

-Jacob was AMAZING and taylor lautner is HOT HOT HOT!!!!!

-the wolves were amazing actors

-the CGI wolves were awesome when they were moving

-the volturi were freaking awesome

-IT WAS FUNNY- like when they watched that zombie movie and you could hear in the backround "I'M GONNA BLOW YOUR FREAKING HEAD OFF!" and jacob said "what a marshmellow" and all that awesome funny stuff

-i excpecially liked the end when bella met him in italy and edward was shirtless ooooo *drools*

-jacob cut his hair in this movie!!!!!!!! yay

-they stopped trying to make alice look like a midget (which made it look more pudgy than small)

-there was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many hot shirtless guys!!!!!!!!

-the end when he proposed OH MY GOSH my eyes got all watery, and then the screen went blank, and I was still waiting, and then the credits starting rolling and i was like AHHHHHHHHH cliff hanger!!! (even though i know what happens ;D)

and lastly HOT SHIRTLESS GUYS

TAYLOR LAUTNER IS SOOOO HOT

and ROBERT PATTINSON IS SOOO HOT

also that paul guy was too :D
