  • What Louisville restaurants have been on Food or Travel Channel shows?

I am visiting Louisville next month and would love to hit up some good restaurants. I am especially interested in going to ones that have been on shows like Diners Drive Ins and Dives, Food Paradise, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Unwrapped, etc. I know a few but I have dialup internet in a rural area so it takes a LONG time to load the pages for these shows and look up the restaurants!.

I am hoping that some locals could makes some recommendations!

    Thanks!

  • How appropriate to mention family in a cover letter for teaching job?

I have read a lot of things that say "dont mention personal life" in a cover letter, but most of that seems to be for general employment, not for elementary teaching where working with kids is a key part of the job.

Also, I know for a fact that my friend got a job as a school counselor after sending a cover letter mentioning the wealth of experience she had from raising her two children. So my question - for teachers and for administrators - what is appropriate to include in a cover letter when mentioning your family???

Teachers, have you gotten hired after putting in a cover letter that mentioned kids in your family?

Administrators - how do you feel about this? Would you NOT interview someone who professionally said in their cover letter that they have raised or helped raise children?

FYI what I am looking at putting into the cover letter includes helping to care for, raise, and help educate my 9 neices and nephews.

  • Wheezing, sore throat, cough, short of breath, losing voice - what's going on!?!?!?!?

It started 6 weeks ago when I came down with the flu (possibly H1N1). As soon as I knew I had the flu and not just a cold, I called my doctor to get on Tamiflu, since I am asthmatic. My flu symptoms cleared up in a few days, but my shortness of breath and tight chest and constant cough did not, so I went to urgent care, where the doctor said my asthma was aggravated and put me on prednisone, which helped a bit with the first dose, but soon as I started weaning off of it the symptoms came back. It made me feel really depressed at first too.

After the course of prednisone I was still having the same trouble, so I went to my own doctor, who said you can have asthma symptoms for 4-6 weeks after the flu. Just in case I did have a respiratory infetion, he gave me an antibiotic too. Over the next week or so I started breathing a little better, but still not 100%.

After the course of antibiotics, I was STILL having wheezing and shortness of breath, but had also develop a sore throat and was having some slight hoarseness. Since it was over the Thanksgiving break, I went into urgent care where THIRD doctor told me it was probably just my asthma causing a lot of inflammation, and gave me another round of prednisone, this time a higher dose.

Just this past week, I called my doctor to ask for Advair, which has helped a lot with my asthma in the past. I am taking that, but my sore throat had gotten worse and I am losing my voice.

I have been on the advair for a week now. For the past week I have also started a course of prilosec in case this could be caused by GERD, but have no relief of symptoms. I have also re-stated using daily sinus irrigation and nasonex in case it is post nasal drip (I have NO congestion) but also have no relief of my symptoms from this. I have looked into it being throat cancer but I do not have all the symptoms of that. I have also been taking Muxinex, Bronchaid, Cough suppressants (both syurp and drops) and using a humidifier EVERY day and drinking water, but I get little to know relief. I try to cough as little as possible to avoid further inflamation

This is so bad it has interfered with my ability to do my job (I am a teacher and without very little voice it is nearly impossible to teach effectively!!!) I am missing a LOT of work. I am afraid to go back to the dr. and be told AGAIN that its just my asthma. I am moderate asthma - mostly just slight wheezing and prone to respiratory infections. I have NEVER had a problem this bad in the 15 years since I've been diagnosed with asthma!

Please please please, if you know WHAT this could be or have had a similar problem, give me some information so that when I go back to the doctor I can find out for sure what is wrong with me!!!

  • What should I include on a freelance writing resume?

I am a beginning freelance writer and putting together my resume. So far I have included objective, education and regular employment experience (including jobs that have to do with what subjects I write about). I also have a section to include my skills (what formats I'm famiilar with and what technology I am competent in)

I am not sure what else to include, especially since I am just starting out as a published writer. I only have a short list of published work - a few poems in a literary journal, an online blog and a few online articles. Should I include those in a section of the resume, and if so what should it be called?

  • What would it be like to teach in Chicago?

I am interested in moving to chicago to be an elementary teacher. What is the job market like there? Do they usually hire many new elementary teachers every year or would it be difficult to find a job?

Also what would it be like teaching there? I am a single woman in my 30s relocating on my own. I know CPS has a housing assistance program...how hard will it be to find a decent, affordable apartment in a safe neighborhood.

Also, what are the schools like. Are there certain ones that should be avoided?

What are some pros and cons for someone like me making the move to a big city on my own.

  • Headache for over a week?

I have had a moderate headache for one week now (sunday-saturday). I can take excedrin in the morning and that helps to dull the ache for most of the day, but it returns once it wears off (i don't take excedrin at night because because of the caffeiene, which I try to stay away from altogether and don't use much on a regular basis so I know its not a caffeiene withdrawl headache). Advil, tylenol, and aleve have not helped either.

Yesterday I developed some cold symptoms (sore throat, slight runny nose, feeling run down) but I do not have a fever or any congestion.

Also, the headache is located more on the top of my head than near my sinuses, and the pain has radiated toward the back of my head.

I do have allergies which have been mildly acting up lately, which I treat with benadryl and zyrtec...I have had them all my life and have had much worse allergy attacks and never had a headache situation like this.

I also have controlled high blood pressure and my BP has been just under 120/80 so I know its not that.

I do not have a family dr. right now and getting into one coiuld take a while where I am at, and my medical coverage will not cover an urgent care center. I am wondering if I should be concerned enough about this to go to the ER if it does not go away in a few days.

  • Where can I buy progesterone cream?

I would like to try using progesterone cream as a treatment for PMDD (want to see if it helps ease symptoms for me without the side effects of the pill).

Will someplace like Walgreens or Rite Aid carry it, or do I need to go to a specialty store or buy it online?

  • What is DBT group therapy like?

I've just been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, and my psychologist is referring me to a group therapy class. I have NO idea what to expect and what it will be like, so if anyone who has been to one can share their experiences, or give me links to a sight that explains it in better detail, I would appreciate it.

  • How can I explain this to my doctor?

I am not sure if I have a urinary tract infection or not. My MAJOR symptom is pain in the area of my urethra, right where the urine comes out is where it hurts. But I also do feel like I have to go a lot and then just end up going a litte.

I had this six months ago and went in and got tested and it was negative (dr. gave me antibiotics anyway and it went away appx. one week later). Then I had it one month ago, and just drank a lot of cranberry juice and pills and it went away in about a week.

Now it is back and I'm going to the DR to see what's up but don't really know what to say. The pain is NOT when I go to the bathroom, it is ALL THE TIME...feels like someone kicked me between the legs...in fact is hard to sit anyway that puts pressure on the area and riding in the car on a bumpy road is brutal!!! Other than going a lot (which I do anyway and I also take a diuretic which makes me go even more) I have no other symptoms - no itching, oder or other type of pain...just pain right in the spot where the urine comes out.

Could it be a UTI or something else? And should I tell the doctor I have urinary pain or just pain in that area?

My doctor usually gives them free as I don't have insurance, but the last time i went they did not have any more. I used up the last of mine on an attack today and as I am out of town for a while I will need my dr. to call one into the pharmacy here. I have a 20 dollar off coupon as well

  • What are some good ways to get started as a freelance writer?

I have been interested in a while, and just want to do it for my own satisfaction (it will not be my sole or even a major source of income). I have only a few small publishing credits (poetry) and would like to get involved more in nonfiction/aricle writing.

Can anyone recommend some good sites or other sources that list jobs/submission guidelines that are reputable and good for beginners?

  • Anyone know about this weight loss/fundraising program I saw at subway?

Was in subway last week and there was a little card on the counter advertising an online weight loss tracker, that for every pound you lose they donate money to help feed the hungry...or something along those lines.

Don't think it was done by subway, they were just promoting it

Didn't write it down and figured I could just google it but I can't find it.

Anyone know about this program and/or where the website is?
