  • If FMLA is a federal law, then why are insurance agencies involved?

If FMLA is a federal law, then why do employees have to go through an insurance company to be approved to the time and whatnot? Do the employers get compensated when an employee uses FMLA time? Can anybody explain this?

  • Payment systems for commercial websites?

What programs, vendors, software, etc do commercial websites use to make money transactions? I know PayPal is popular, but to use them, it's required to use their logos on your site. How do places like Amazon make transactions on their site?

  • What website software is prefered?

I'm going to start a new business website which will entail a multitude of options available. I have some website building experience, but have only used MS Publisher. We all know that Publisher is limited with what you are able to do with it.

I am looking for the top 5 or so preferred software programs for sale that will allow me to build any kind of site that I choose, but is user friendly at the same time. Some of the things I plan to have on the site is a username and password section, subscription purchase, forums, blogs, etc. So MS Publisher won't do it anymore. I need something with more umph.

Does anyone know what programs are used by companies like craigslist, myspace, facebook, etc? I'm sure many large companies use proprietary software, but I'm also sure that when these companies started out, they started by using software purchased from somewhere and were still able to have the functionality they wanted.

Any comments and suggestions are welcome as well. Thank you.

  • Looking for specific online investment?

Hello. I am looking for an online investment, legitimate, which will allow me to fund my account with low minimum requirement (such as $1usd or something), and provide a daily compounded return of at least 2%.

I have looked at safeatom.com but am unsure of how it works. I can't find anyone to talk to and the website has no phone number. Also, I have tried funding an account at safeatom.com but am finding it difficult because you have to go through so many other websites, most requiring western union or wire transfers.

Does anybody have several legitimate online places that I can look into that will give a daily compounding interest of at least 2%? Thank you.

  • Movie/television extras, for real?

Has anybody had a job as an extra? I've been hearing a lot about it recently, not that it's a new thing, but it's something that I've stumbled upon. Has anybody been paid to be an extra before or is currently doing it?

I'd like to know if it's worth my time calling the people and setting up an interview. What is the pay like? Is it hard to obtain a position as an extra or is it basically whoever shows up pretty much? How often is there work and how long is the work day?

  • Impersonating a therapist?

What are the legal ramifications for calling yourself a therapist or counselor? If you don't specifically say that you're a certified and licenses counselor/therapist, is it illegal? What can a person, not licensed, counsel and provide therapy on?

  • Unique mall stores?

I'm opening a store inside a mall. I have several ideas but am looking for the best one to start with. I am seeking out people from all over to tell me of the unique, popular, and favorite stores in malls closest to them. Please exlcude all major franchise stores like Sears, JCPenny, etc. I will except places like Spencers, or the Teddy Bear making company. Please do not list answers that other users have listed either. As well, if you have an idea which is not yet in a mall, feel free to ad it to the list. Thanks.

  • Driver's License with DWI?

A friend of mine has been in jail for a few years now and will get out next year. I have some work lined out for him but it will require him to drive a car. He was on probation for DWI and then was stopped for a DWI which led to his going to jail. My question is if he still has his driver's license or if it was suspended. If it was suspended, about how long will it be suspended for? Since he's been unable to drive for the last many years, would he be able to get his license back when he gets out? We live in Texas.

  • Question about social network creation?

First question, what is the cost is for establishing and building a website for social networking. Looking to emulate something like guru.com or ifreelance.com. I know this varies a lot but I'm just looking for a ballpark figure.

Next question, what's the best way to create such a website with individual profile accounts, posting projects, discussion boards, payment and invoice features, etc? I know godaddy provides url's and whatnot, but will it let me create items like I previously mentioned?

Next question, how do you promote something like this so that you have lots of members like guru.com or ifreelance.com? I understand the principles of marketing, but you always hear about certain companies/sites being established and making it big. What did they do?

Please answer the questions. Don't give vague, non specific answers.

  • Online sites for business networking?

I'm looking for good websites/networks that allow me to bid on projects for consulting/transcription work/data entry/etc. I already know about ifreelance.com and guru.com, but I'm looking for other sites/networks like these.
