  • ADHD Teen daughter Do better in sports?

She loves playing LaCrosse, and --at times, is very good at it. However, she often finds herself "zoning out" only to be snapped out of it by the coach. This is effecting her performance greatly. She was diagnosed with ADHD with some Executive Functioning issues in grade school. She is now in High School and takes Focalin Extended Release 20 mg daily. Any suggestions to improve performance>

We just got an all new AC system put in a week ago, $1300.00 mechanic said it would last another 15 years +. It is blowing hot air, 106 degree temps. It worked great on the way there a couple days ago. My wife has ZERO mechanical ability, but if someone has some tips/advice, I could relay to her, thanks!!!

  • Stay-at-home-dad Under-appreciated?

I am a stay at home dad, my wife is a teacher, and my daughter has ADHD and some learning disorders. I am the handyman, caretaker parent, cook for all meals, gardener, maintenance handyman, scheduler, bookkeeper, housekeeper, mechanic, and chauffeur. From January through April, I run a Tax Preparation business from our home office to help with income. When my daughter was very young, we agreed that she needed someone who was around home more to help her with her various needs, including homework help/tutor. I was the best qualified. Lately, if I am tired at night, my wife says "well, its not like you have a job", and seems to be resentful over my being at home. Let me tell you, from 6 in the morning, I WORK. Doing all the above activities including occasional Tax resolution work outside of January through April. I feel like I do more than she does, honestly, and remember--from when I did leave the house to work--that it was easier to go to a 9-5 job, and then be "off" after work and on weekends. Whenever things get stressful or challenging in any way, she brings up this resentment. An example would be, a few nights ago, my daughter decided she wanted to make brownies at 8:30. I was tired and "done" and my wife was upset that she had to be "interrupted from glancing over plans for the next work day" and we got in a fight claiming "its not like you have a job". Are you effing kidding me, all I do is juggle multiple jobs, including one that occasionally brings in income!!!!

  • Mac process "spotlightnethelper"?

I know that the process "spotlightnethelper" is reporting data to apple. I also know that it raises my ping while online gaming, and when I force quit, it dramatically gets better. However, it keeps popping up, and up goes my ping. I do not want to help Apple, I do not need MY mac reporting anything to anybody for any reason. Please, do not suggest using Little Snitch as its a $40 commitment, and do not try to persuade me that spotlightnethelper is a good thing. I need a script that will END IT. Help me Mac gurus! :D

  • Claiming expected and unpaid income as a loss on Tax Return??

Someone told me that their Tax Guy said he could claim a one time loss on expected wages on his Tax Return. His situation is, he is on disability and is making less than he did on his regular wages. This sounds illegal, is this possible???? Can someone tell me where the IRS addresses this in their publications?

  • Taxes on Selling a rental house?

There has to be a way to do this that is legitimate and above the board!!

I have rented a house in the bay area to someone for 5 years. Flied schedule E, etc. Meanwhile, I JUST purchased a home in 2013 in southern california in which we now live in(was renting until then). Our bay area rental is on the market as of 2014, nobody has rented or occupied it for all of December 2013 through now. If it sells at the end of this month, how can I use the Home Sale Exclusion for that house??? I think it can be done! If not, how can I accurately forecast what tax I can incur by selling. Once again, is there a way to get the Home Sale Exclusion(500k for my wife and I) for the sale of that home???? Please do not offer 1031 exchange as a solution, thats not in the cards. Thanks a bunch guys!
