  • Pros and cons of wearing glasses?

    Hi everyone, I just got glasses yesterday

    My mom was against it as the power of lens is only -0.5 and -0.25 D

    In the 2 lenses.

    So I was wondering as she said, if I wear glasses it can actually make my eyes a whole lot worse and I will get higher power then

    But I thougt incase I DON'T wear them I will grt a higher power

    Please tell mr what to do

    As the power is too low should I not wear them at all?

    Thank you

  • Which is a better nucleophile and why?

    Which is a better one,

    R-CH2-NO2

    or

    R-CH3

    And why is it?

    I know that NO2 is an electron withdrawing group, so it would try to neutralise the nucleophile, by making it more stable, now will it also mean that when it's more stable it is a better nucleophile, or when there is more negative charge and NO2 can't stabalise it will be a better nucleophile?

    Thanks everyone

    Have a nice day

  • cant solve this equation :(?

    hey everyone

    i was busy doing hardcore physics

    when to my surprise i hit these equations in a typically long phy question which i couldnt solve

    well I thought i could do linear equations in 3 variables but i couldnt get this

    can anyone please do this and tell me how to do these kind of questions?

    2y=3x

    y= -3z (its negatve of 3z)

    x= -2z (negative of 2z again)

    thank you everyone

  • Alcohol to carboxylic acid conversion?

    I was just studying organic chem, and i came across this reaction

    Thst alcohols are convertrd to carboxylic acid by oxidation by hot KMno4, but i have no absolutely what is the nature of this KMNo4

    Is it acidic?

    Is it basic?

    And why

    Because if its acidic we usually write acidified, or if its basic we add NaOH

    I dont know,

    Maybe i had taken the notes wrongly

    Maybe its not hot KMnO4

    Someone please tell me the exact reaction?

    Ive heard boiling point increases with increase in atomin weight of halogen, but i cannot understand why

    If size is small more overlapping, hence stronger bond, right?

    Stronger bond means highger melting point right?

    Therefpre, smaller the halogen higher the boiling point?

    I think its sometng to do with thermal resistance and co efficient of thermal conductivity
