  • which statistics test do I use?

    I have conducted an experiment where I blind sampled 55 people. I had them taste two different sodas (generic and brand) and recorded the results.

    Ho: Brand name soda tastes better than generic soda

    Ha: Brand name soda and generic soda taste the same

    I found the p hat value, the SE value and the confidence interval, but i'm not sure if i'm using the correct test. Which test should I use to find out which hypothesis i should accept and which i should reject? And I should use .05 as the alpha, right?

    so far, my calculations:

    phat = 25/55=.45

    SE = sq. rt. (.45(1-.45)/55) = .06708

    MOE = 45+-(1.960)(SE) = .45 +/- .013148

  • maximizing volume of cone: A right triangle with hypotenuse a is rotated to form a right circular cone?

    A right triangle with hypotenuse of length a is rotated about one of its legs to generate a right circular cone. Find the greatest possible volume of such a cone

    I remember you have to use the volume formula, 1/3 * pi * r^2 * h and set the 'h' equal to the height of the triangle and find the max value.

    Can somebody please show me how they did it and what they got for the answer?

  • Great ecchi animes (like "The familiar of zero)?

    I've recently started watching anime because my sister got this series, called "The Familiar of Zero" and it was really really good, and I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions as to other anime i should watch (It actually left me crying at the end of season 2 >_>). About me: I am 17, male, just going to college. I also swim (been gettin' scholarship opportunities to numerous schools). I am interested (I think) in ecchi. So far i've seen "The familiar of zero", "Fullmetal Alchemist", and "Shakugan no Shana", all of which i enjoyed thoroughly (personal favorite was the familiar of zero though...GREAT ending for s2). I dunno, i might just be a newb to anime but those were very good so please post your favorite anime (ecchi!) shows!

  • Pre-Calculus math problem with trigonometric Functions?

    Hi all, here is a challenging problem that needs solving...Please don't tell me that this is my homework and that I need to do it myself because this is NOT my homework. I'm serious.

    1) A Ferris wheel makes one complete turn every 20 sec. The lowest the chairs can get is 8 feet off the ground, and the radius of the ferris wheel is 25 feet. A rider's height, h, above the ground can be modeled by the equation

    h = a sin wt + k, where h and k are given in feet and t is given in seconds.

    what is the value of a?

    what is the value of k?

    What is the value of w?

    2) Jacob and Emily ride a Ferris wheel. The wheel has a 16meter diameter and turns at 3rpm with its lowest point 1m above the ground. Assume that Jacob and emily's hight h above the ground is a sinusoidal function of time t (in seconds) where t = 0 represents the lowest point of the wheel.

    thanks all, and everybody who gets this right will be awarded points (I will make it so!)
