  • Responses to coughing?

How do people respond to (like, what do they say?) when someone coughs in different cultures?

Where I come from, people don't really say anything and I was wondering if it's different somewhere else?

I'm particularly interested in European cultures (mainly Wales, if anyone knows?) - it's a side-note on a project I'm doing on Europe.

  • is this true?

So basically my cousin who I'm very close to has been diagnosed with a whole load of 'mental health issues' as well as back-problems and the like: ADHD, synesthesia, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, depression (including self-harm), OCD, insomnia and so on... Anyway, they said that as a side-effect they can gauge people's reactions and emotions and 'knows how to mess with people's minds'. As far as you know, could this be true?

Please, no comments about how he's deluded or something... I'd just like to know if he's telling the truth??

  • Why is the Harry Potter fandom so exclusive?

I feel like the fandom is so exclusive: you often get judged if you claim to be a HP fan yet haven't been to the theme-park/Studio Tours, or collected all of the merchandise or watched all of the films multiple times, or been to Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station... Even on Reddit you need a certain amount of points or whatever to join a house.

So, for a series that teaches acceptance, why is it so exclusive?

  • German homework?

I want to say 'when my mother is busy, I go shopping' for my German essay.

    How do I say this?

    So far I have:

Wann meine Mutter beschäftigt ist, kaufe ich ein

    Is this correct?

And in general, can someone give me (simple) examples of how the verb is 'the second idea in a sentence'.

  • Where should I live (US)?

I currently live in the UK, but am looking into migrating to the USA. I'm looking for suggestions of whereabouts would be good for me to live?

My criteria for a village/town/city would be:

    - Any size (from village to city)

    - Not too expensive (too expensive being Manhattan)

    - Similar climate to UK (anywhere between -5C (23F) and 10C (50F) in the Winter, but not consistently more than 30C (86F) in the Summer)

    - The more rain the better

    - Preferably a safe area (not many gun crimes, not much racism, few natural disasters (etc.))

    - Preferably near the coast

    Thanks in advance!

  • Looking for a good laptop? (UK)?

I'm looking for a reasonable, good-quality laptop to use for work.

    - It would have to be (very) low-budget - preferably under £300

    - Preferably a long battery life

    - Portable

    - No tablet-computers or macs, please

I would mainly use it for Word Processing and the Internet.
