  • Graduate ROTC programs?

I'm thinking about doing ROTC while getting my Masters Degree, I was just wondering if anybody knew if I would have to be a graduate student at the university and not only go for my masters in (insert major) AND take rotc classes? If so it isn't a big deal, I'm just a little confused on how exactly it would go.

    Thanks in advance

  • Any help on my options?

I'm currently attending a college and graduating this fall with a B.A. in Communications and a 3.0 GPA. I was wondering if anybody knew any ROTC army programs or anything else where I could put that experience and time to use in any of the military branches.

    Appreciate your answers.

  • Help with ab-workouts?

When I ran track back in the day (~5 years ago) I didn't have any trouble doing any of the AB workouts, crunches, partner exercises, etc. Now when I do them, i find my lower back really hurts after about 11-12, and I usually don't feel the burn at all. The only time I feel a burn and it doesnt hurt that bad is when I lay on the floor, bring my leg to a 45 degree angle (at the knee) and put my foot on my knee and touch my elbow to the knee that isn't on the ground (sorry, hard to describe).

Any advice on what I could do?

  • Corporate Interview help?

I have an interview for a Fortune 500 company (American Life Insurance) tomorrow morning, and it's a corporate office. I'm supposed to dress nicely and I have two dress shirts available: White and Red. I'm not sure if Red would be inappropriate or not; but I'm thinking it'd distinguish me from others, I look better in red, and I know with my personality and appeal it would work well. Should I be safe and wear a white dress shirt, or the red dress shirt?

    Thanks guys.

  • Can the Coyotes beat the Predators?

Mike Smith will only be able to do so much, can Phoenix put enough offensive pressure on Rinne to have any chance in the second round?

  • Issues with my achilles tendon?

When I start to run at my college indoor track, I usually start with a 1 mile warm up mile, not very fast at all. My achilles tendons really hurt and strain at this point, but usually after a mile I stop, re-stretch everything (with a little longer stretch to both of my calves) and it seems to not really hurt after. I think it might have to do with the fact i have pretty high arches in my feet and I don't have any special inserts for that.

Is this a sign of Achilles Tendonitis? It worries me that the pain is covered by my bodies natural adrenaline that comes as you warm up before a workout.

After the first mile I'll usually run 2-5 miles additional, with stretching at the end so it doesn't hurt for the remainder or the run and afterwards when I walk.

    Thanks

  • Western Conference matchups, who steps up?

St. Louis Blues vs L.A. Kings

Nashville Predators vs Phoenix Coyotes/Chicago Blackhawks

I think for St. Louis you have to have someone else to step up offensively, McDonald can only do so much before a team like L.A. shuts him down completely. For L.A. I think they need a little bit more from Anze Kopitar.

For Nashville, Rinne has to stay hot. If he lets up against either Chicago or Phoenix he'll pay for it, and Nashville isn't a team I see coming back too easily from a 2 goal deficit; though the better question is would their defense even allow two goals to get by them, let alone Pekks.

For the Coyotes, wasn't too familiar with the current series between them and Chicago (I say in a regretful manner). I would say that Doan needs to really come out and have a break threw series if they advance to the second round.

For Chicago, there is just way too many offensive weapons for them to not be scoring left and right. and Crawford, I just expect more from him, if he plays against Nashville the way he is now...God help them.

    What do you guys think?

  • Nashville advances, so, who do you guys...?

Want to see them face in the next round?

BQ1: If there was a team Nashville would really want to face, who do you think it'd be?

BQ2: If there was a team Nashville would want to avoid, who do you think that would be?

    Thanks guys!

  • Saw a Nashville fan in my class today...?

I saw her wearing a Weber jersey, and almost immediately I had the Mortal Combat song in my head getting louder and louder...Appropriate response?

Just so this wasn't a waste of your time:

BQ1: Who will win in both games tonight?

BQ2: Biggest surprise thus far overall (LA over Canucks, Philly's starting 3-0 and the manner they did it, players not stepping up, suspensions (or lack of), etc).

  • MVP of each series to this day?

NY Rangers - Ottawa 2-2 // I would take the easy road and say one of the goalies, but instead I'm going to say Kyle Turris. When they were down by 2, his 3 points (including OT winner) gave them life in the series and showed NY that they weren't to be taken lightly.

Boston - Washington 2-2 // I think Holtby by a mile. Before the match-up I figured he would do well, a rookie getting his golden chance to shine and prove himself, we see this time and time again where a 'no-name' goalie rises to the occasion.

Devils - Panthers 2-2 // Eww..not a fan of this series, I'll just say Marty Brodeur because he sealed a NHL record for shutouts, in addition it was one that sealed a 4-0 victory, which will surely give them fire in game 5

Philly - Pittsburg 3-1 // Girioux. Dude's been unbelievable and is the only Hart Candidate to play consistently in the playoffs (correct me if i'm wrong)

Vancouver - Kings 1-3 // Dustin Brown. It's about time he showed that he can play well, 5 points in the series and 2 short handed goals in a single game just gave them so much confidence, and really gave a big blow to the Canucks. Schneider is playing well, though. Keep an eye on him.

St. Louis - San Jose 3-1 // With the amazing defense St. Louis had all season, you'd expect one of the goal tenders to get my vote here (7 goals split between them in 4 games). Although that is good, the biggest question for me at least was could they score against a physical, defensively viable (more than some other teams out there) San Jose team, with an experienced playoff goalie in Niemi. They've been able to score, and in large due to Andy McDonald. I'm not going to pretend like I knew who he was before the series, but the kids made a name for himself. 3 Goals and 4 Assists against the Sharks isn't bad at all, and what a time to catch fire.

Phoenix - Chicago 3-1 // TORRES. haha j/k, f**k that dude. I like Phoenix coming in this series and proving why they got the #3 spot, heck made me a believer. Given the firepower Chicago can dishout and how capable they are, I'm going to say Mike Smith. 2.18 GAA in 4 games, but most important mentally strong in overtime both at home and away, yeah he might get nervous in the closing seconds of games, but he overcomes that in overtime.

Nashville - Detroit 3-1 // *heavy sigh*. Glad to say it's Pekka Rinne. Best of luck to him, made me happy to find out him and Valtteri Filppula were friends and played against each other, makes me like the guy even more.

Interesting note: all 4 series in Western Conference is at 3-1, 3/4 in Eastern is 2-2.

    What do you all think?

  • Torres hit on Hossa, your thoughts?

No link for it yet....No call yet, both of his feet left the ground for the hit, which I thought qualified as a penalty? A little light on this situation would be appreciated, because I thought that was a textbook penalty.

BQ1: Is Torres a dirty player?

BQ2: How bad do you think Hossa was hurt?

  • Officiating - inconsistent?

As a biased fan, watching the Detroit game I felt the officiating was very inconsistent in the calls they made, and I figured it was just because of subjective feelings. I turn on the Flyers game and...wow..

I understand what playoff hockey is, and I understand that emotions run wild and its physical. At the same time, there is a little something called keeping order among the players. At least twice I saw a Philly player rolled by a Pittsburgh player and it wasn't even close to the puck; Neal gets a bad shot in on the 19 year old, he leaves and then (if my eyes don't deceive me) hits Girioux in the back of the head a couple seconds later??

Then a small cross check, rather harmless but yet deserving of a penalty, gets a 4 minute and mis-conduct? What do you guys think (any other instances in other series can be discussed as well, in case I missed anything).

BQ1: Do you think the officials should have let Crosby and Girioux go at it, instead of baby sitting Crosby? I feel he got a hit in on Girioux because they were trying to pull each other apart. Why not let them go at it? It's not like it's Letang facing Girioux, he wouldn't get hurt or anything.

BQ2: I'll ask this again after a couple games have been played: Most boring series thus far and most interesting. For me it's the Devils / Panthers for most boring // and surprisingly the Flyers / Penguins series is being what it's hyped up to be; which as a hockey fan you love to see (not the fact pittsburgh is losing, its just fun hockey to watch).

BQ3: Do I look pretty today? (BIG points here)

BQ4: Anybody else offended at that Alex fellow butchering his sentences with grammatical errors and improper use of symbols? Outrage! (k feel free not to answer 3 and 4)

    Thanks in advance guys! :D

  • Detroit and Nashville?

Did Detroit prove to be the better team? If you watched the entire game feel free to answer, back up your answers as well.

Heads up: If I get a "well, they lost" reply I'll just laugh.

  • Do you think regular season matchups matter?

Trying to kill time before my next class, decided to look up some fun facts, such as specific team's performance against respective divisions. For example:

    (1) Rangers might face (8) Washington. Rangers are an incredible 15-2-2 against opponents in the SE division.

    (2) Boston might face (7) Ottawa. Boston is 17-4-1 against their own division, where as Ottawa is only 9-11-3.

    (3) Florida and (6) New Jersey. New Jersey is 14-6 against SE opponents...

Pittsburgh and Philly have records within the Atlantic division that would be the same in a playoff scenario.

    In the West:

    (2) St. Louis and (7) Phoenix. St. Louis is 12-5-1 against the Pacific division, whereas Phoenix is only 6-9-3 against Central.

    (4) Detroit and (5) Nashville. Nashville holds the better inter-division record, 16-5-3 and Detroit is only 12-10-0.

MAIN QUESTION: -Do you think that these results throughout the season matter at all, or do you firmly believe that once playoffs it what was done in the season doesnt matter.

OPTIONAL: -Do you think that if a team has dominated the other team during the season carries a psychological advantage in their playoff match up?

Thanks for the responses ahead of time. Hope these statistics were interesting and have fun answering :D

  • In the current playoff picture, what do you feel is the most EXCITING and BORING team?

    And explain why.

I feel that the most exciting team right now is probably a tie between the Flyers and the Penguins, just because of what happened in their game and imagining how that first round match up would go is just insane... In my eyes the most boring team(s) is a tie between the Coyotes and the Senators...Whenever I watch highlights of their games I don't get any chills down my spine hearing the crowd yelling and they just dont seem to have a great shot in this playoffs.

  • Potentially one of the most exciting playoffs upcoming?

Just watching some of these teams fighting for the playoffs, and teams that are already in the playoffs playing each other (New Jersey - Chicago / Nashville - St. Louis)...it's absolutely insane! With all of these teams and potential match ups, honestly do you feel this has the potential to be the most exciting playoffs in recent memory?
