  • Missed Period / Negative Pregnancy Test... TTC?

We have been TTC for close to a year and had a miscarriage in Nov. I am now 4 days late, but every pregnancy test I have taken is negative. My question is has anyone else got a negative pregnancy test days after their missed period and still ended up being pregnant? If so how many days after your missed period did you get a positive test? I had all the 'symptoms' of my period starting last week (cramps, bloating...) but it never started. I am still having very light cramping feelings, but they have tapered off a little and but over the last 5 days of so, I have had off and on light nausea. Thanks!

  • Not sure what is going on... please read?

My last period started on July 12th, we have been ttc for several months now. Last week I had menstrual like cramps and was thinking my period was starting, but it never did. So I did some reading and read about implantation cramping and I became excited that perhaps that what had happened. So I took my first pregnancy test on Tuesday (10th), negative, took one yesterday and today, both negative. My normal cycle is 29-30 days, so I am either 1 or 2 days late. Could I still be pregnant or is there something else going on? Anyone else experience something like this? My first pregnancy was nothing like this, we were very luck and got pregnant right away, so I never worried, this time around is a little different story. Thanks for any advice

  • How many moms feel like this?

I am a mom to a wonderful little two year old, but I am constantly worried that I am not doing enough for her. I feel guilty when ever I turn on the TV (even though she never watches more than an hour a day). I feel bad when I tell her that I don't want to run with her, even when I just spent 30 minutes running with her. I play with her often, but still feel guilty when she ask me to play and I am working on something. I am constantly worried about her diet. I feel like the only thing she eats is oatmeal for breakfast and the rest of the day it is mac and cheese! I try to offer her fruits and veggies and it becomes a battle. I watch all these other moms and think how do they do it? I have a friend who I swear is super mom. Her child eats all these fresh fruits and veggies, doesn't like tv, is potty trained at 2. What am I misses?

  • Could I be pregnant? Please for details?

My normal period last 5-6 days, last Friday I began cramping right on cue and had a brownish discharge, then Saturday, nothing, on Sunday I had heavy bleeding, Monday very light bleeding and then it was over. This week I have been having headaches and mild nausea. I took a pregnancy test last Tuesday evening and it was negative. My husband and I have been trying, so I am just wondering it I still might be pregnant. I hate wasting the money on pregnancy tests if there is no chance and I am just going through a lot of wishful thinking. Any thoughts?

  • What type of swing set would you recommend?

I am looking to buy a swing set for my daughter who will be 2 in May. I am torn between getting a toddler swing set that she could use now, but will most likely out grown by the time she is 6 or 7, however we do plan on having more children soon. But if I feel like if a get a 'regular' swing set, my daughter wouldn't get much use out of it this year. Should I wait a year? Does anyone have a toddler one (was looking at the Step 2 ones), how long did your child use it? I have a budget of no more than 1500, prefer, under 1000

  • When is a child too old for 'diaper only' pictures?

My daughter is 21 months old and I recently posted some photos of her while she was painting for some friends and family to see. She was finger painting (aka whole body painting:), so she was only wearing her diaper. Several of my friends (none of which are parents) ask if she was a little to old to be having pictures of her in just her diaper. This had never occurred to me at this age, so my question is when does a child become to old for 'diaper only' pictures?

  • 18 month old being awake in her crib...?

This week my sweet little girl has yet again started something new and I am just curious if other toddlers do this. Lately I have no clue when she is waking up! She normally sleeps from 7:30pm - 7:00 am. Well the last several days I haven't heard her until after 8 and I was just thinking she was sleeping in, great! Well her naps had been getting longer to, but the last several times when I went in there (before she starts making any noise) she is awake and just laying there with her stuffed animal. This morning I peeked in her room at 8 and she was doing the same thing. I left her in there thinking she just needed a few more minute to really wake up, but she didn't start talking or making any noise until after 9! Now I don't really now when she is waking up and how long she is laying in her crib before she starts making any noise! Is this normal? Do I just let her lay in there because she seems perfectly happy or do I go in and check on her sooner and get her up? Just curious... thanks!

  • 16 month old and talking before going to sleep...?

Ok I have asked this before, but just want to hear more opinions. My 16 month old daughter use to lay down for bed or let me rock her to sleep no problems. She would lay down, blow a kiss, and that was it. Now she won't let me rock her (which is fine... mom's a little sad, but ok:)) and when I lay her down she cries for a little less than a minute every time. Then she talks or babbles in her crib between 5 - 20 minutes. Is this normal? Is she not tired yet, should I put her to bed later? My husband thinks she is fine and to just let it go because she doesn't cry long and she is falls a sleep after her babbling, but I am the first time mom who worries about everything! Thanks for any advice!

  • My 16 month old keeps pinching her cheeks...?

My daughter is 16 months old and over the last several days she keeps grabbing at her face and pinching and pulling at it until she says ow! She does it over and over and sometimes tries to do it to my husband or I. We tell her no and show how to lightly touch her face and say soft and that works for the moment, but then she starts up again. How do I stop this? Is it normal, is she just experimenting? And also 3 or 4 times now she has tried biting me, she just walks up and tries to bite my leg or shoulder when I am holding her. I don't know what is going on! Again I tell her no and show her a gentle touch and then give her something she can bite like a teething ring or food, but she typically doesn't want those. What is going on? Please help, thanks!

  • 16 month old talking in her crib before going to sleep...?

I am just curious if others experience this 'problem' (its minor really) with their children. Around 7:30 - 8:00 my daughter is pretty tired, rubs her eyes, yawning... So most nights we try to do bath by 7:15, so we can put he in bed before 8. After bath we read a couple of books and then it is bed time. In the past we could just lay her in her crib and she would wave bye bye to us and go to sleep. Now, however, she screams when we put her in her crib for about 30 seconds - 1 minute and then she just talks and babbles for about 15 minutes before finally going to sleep. Is this normal? Am I putting her to bed to early? To late? Thanks for any thoughts on this!

  • Please let me know I am not alone...?

Ok I am feeling horrible and I am not really looking to feel better about it, but I just want to know someone else has done something this dumb as well! I was playing with my 15 month old daughter tonight when I lifted her up and into our ceiling fan while it was on. She cried for awhile and got a small bump on her head, we took her to the doctor and all is well, she was acting fine 20 minutes later and we just have to check in on her tonight. My question is has anyone else accidentally injured their child? I feel so bad, please tell me I am not alone! Perhaps making a list of all our accidents will help others think more about how to prevent them!

  • Bug (spider) bite question... has this ever happened to your child?

I feel awful right now. My daughter (15 months) has a bite on her ankle that look terrible. I don't know what bit her and even when it happened, my daughter didn't cry the whole time we were outside. Her ankle now has an open sore (size of my pinky nail) (was a blister that she opened), red all over and swollen. It doesn't seem to be bothering her. Yesterday morning it was a tiny red dot, in the afternoon it was a slightly larger red circle, she didn't even notice it. Then this morning horrible! I took her to the Dr and they put her on an antibiotics and sent us out the door. It just keeps looking worse, I called the Dr back and they said to wait until she has been on the antibiotics for 24 hours. My daughter doesn't seemed bothered by it at all, she is playing, walking, acting completely normal and barely touching it, but it looks so bad! I feel like something more needs to be done, but don't know. Has this ever happen to any one else, what did you do? How long did it take for it to clear up? I am feeling terrible, I should have done something yesterday to keep it from getting infected, but it was so small and harmless yesterday! Please words of advice are needed for this worried mother!

  • How much TV does your 1 year old watch?

I am back and forth on the TV and ADHD issue. On a typical day my daughter watches 1 30min baby Einstein video, on the rare occasion (less than once a week) she might watch 2. I have read a ton of research on TV and its effects on children and I don't know what to believe. I teach young students and I see kids that have it and I don't want to increase my daughter's chances of having to face this struggle. I let her watch it because she LOVES the on video with jungle animals and goes around making monkey noises and pointing to the TV all day until it goes on in the evening. I guess my question is how much tv do you let your little one watch? Do you believe it has negative effects, just looking for other parents opinions. Thanks!

  • Please help a first time mom with the following questions... thanks!?

My daughter is 14 months old and I am one of those 'worry all the time' first time moms! According to my mom and friends my daughter is just fine and doing all the things kids do at this age, but I have some questions...

    1. At 14 months should she be able to feed herself with a spoon? She sort of gets it, but not really....

    2. Should she be able to put those really chunky wooden puzzle pieces back into the puzzle? (they are really big and I show her where they go, but she can't get them in there)

    3. How much TV does your child watch? I let her watch 1 baby Einstein video a day, but I feel guilty about this, because so many people say no TV for kids under 2

    4. When did you move your child to a toddler bed?

    5. She only likes to eat turkey hotdogs, mac-n-cheese, and cheese slices. The only fruit she will eat is the baby food kind. Sometimes she will eat cooked carrots or peas... any suggests only how to get her to eat new foods? If she doesn't like it she spits it out or throws it on the floor!

Ok that is enough for now, I have many more questions, but I won't over load everyone!

  • Weaning my daughter from breastfeeding...?

Okay, my daughter is 14 months old and loves to nurse in the mornings and at night before bed and whenever she gets stressed out. I have decided to wean her for several reasons. First being that my husband and I are going on a 4 day vacation in 2 weeks and our daughter is staying with my mom. I don't want to pump, so I know that will pretty much end my milk. Secondly I go back to work again in mid August and would like her weaned by then. She is fine with drinking whole milk during the day, but this morning she cried and cried to nurse. I felt horrible. And now that it has been over 24 hours since I've nursed my breast hurt? Any ways to make this easier on my daughter and how long will it take for my milk to dry up and my breast to stop hurting? Thanks

  • 1 year old daughter fell down 5 carpeted stairs...?

My daughter is just over a year and she fell down about 5 or 6 stairs tonight, she slipped out of my grip. She cried for only a minute or two and then was reaching for her pacifier. As soon as I gave it to her she calmed down. We read a book together and she then played for about 20 minutes after wards. She seemed fine, but I am scared to death. I just put her to bed, and plan on checking on her often tonight. Should I let her sleep, should I take her to the ER? I know money should never be a factor when a child's health is a stake, but an ER visit is $100. My husband thinks she fine and we see no obvious injury. Just seeking advice, knowing me, we will be on our way to the ER anyways!
