  • Adjusting the savage mark ii's sights for windage?

I just purchased a brand new savage mark ii f from Walmart (the gun dept folks in that particular walmart are clowns and do not check chambers or know how to handle a firearm). And already disappointment. There's a few little rust flecks on parts of the bolt you can't see because I couldn't disassemble before purchase same goes for the horrible trigger I couldn't even see under the lock. When I got to the range I began to notice things that I hadn't realized at purchase like the SUPER crappiness of the stock and inability to extract winchester bulk. Also the sights were badly off and it still shot high even with the rear leaf on the lowest elevation. And very far right (I'd say 7in or so). Does anyone know if the basic model factory leaf sight is adjustable for windage? Me and the range officer both tried to see if we could do it and it appears to be fixed. Anyone out there have one of these? Good luck? Bad? Any other tips or advice that may be relevant? Also, can these be dry fired like a 10/22 or do you have to count the rounds?

    Thanks everyone

  • Type 56c ak variant purchase question?

I have the oppurtunity to purchase a norinco type 56c that i've been drolling over for some time. It comes with 3 30rnd magazines and 1 75rnd drum but no original box. The rifle is not unfired or nib but is in immaculate condition and appears to have spent most of its time in a safe. It is all original and stamped, as well. The seller wants 800 plus a pretty well beaten smith and wesson model 13 I have. However, at the last second now I have been getting cold feet and have started to wonder if converting a mac 90 to original military condition would be a better bet, as that would save me quite a bit of money ( once in a blue moon a nice mac 90 will pop up around here). I know some people have these posted online for 1300+ but that just seems unrealistic to me and I don't think I would ever get anywhere near that if I were to sell it. So all in all, is this gun worth the 1050 or 1100 i'd be paying for it and would I have a prayer of getting that back some day if I take good care of it?

    Thanks yahoo community.

  • Glock 17 gen 2 for FN FNP 9 trade?

I have been offered an even trade on my glock 17 gen 2 for an FNP 9 that the seller claims has only 300 rds through it. I have heard that the fnp is a quality piece and I like that it is double/ single because I feel I am more accurate in that format than with the constant striker fired setup in the glock. Basically, would this be a fair trade? Would I be stupid to do it or pass it up? Both guns are in the same carried but not often fired condition (yes there are people out there who carry full size pistols). Any opinions or pointers would be very helpful and appreciated.

  • NAA .380 guardian pistol?

I was thinking about trading my S&W model 13-3 .357 magnum 4inch barrel in fair condition (with some significant wear) but in overall very good mechanical condition for an NAA .380 in decent shape. Do any of you know qbout or have any significant experience with the guardian? Any positives or negatives to it? Any glaring defects? I know its a pocket pistol but I do plan to take it to the range so shootability is significant. Also, would I be getting totally burned on an even trade here? As I said before, the revolver is well used and i've been told they are quite common here in Florida. I know you all are going to say that you really would need to see both guns but just a general or ball park estimate on whether it is a fair trade would be helpful. By the way, I don't plan on using it for concealed carry, I just like the novelty factor and think it would make a fun range toy. Which is also a concern for me because I know my revolver will most likely shoot much better.

    Thanks for your input

  • Purchasing an s&w m13-3?

I've been looking at an s&w m13-3 in .357 and want to know from any of you that have purchased or owned one in the past. It is used and appears to be in good condition but I am unsure what to pay when it comes time to make an offer. Information on this particular model seems to be harder to come by than other s&w revolvers and the reviews have been mixed with the consensus that this particular frame is a little light for .357 magnum and some of them have suffered burst cylinders in the past, which is significant as it is an older model. Anything else anyone can add about this particular weapon is welcomed but I need to know first and foremost what a decent price is assuming its in good-decent overall condition that won't insult the seller but also does not leave me at risk of paying too much.

  • Chrome bore in a dpms ar rifle?

    Hi all,

When my check goes in tomorrow, I was going to head to my local shop to make my first official ar15 purchase of a lower spectrum dpms rifle. It seems to be a good deal for someone without a huge bank account like myself as it costs $700 but has a six pos stock, flash hider, nice crisp trigger, forward assist/ deflector, dust cover, bolts pretty smooth, and it has a flat top but the shop is willing to work in a set of sights. Now i've only ever handled a few friend's ar15s (and fired of course) and i really do like the platform for plinking a lot. However the only one I've ever shot that didn't have the chrome bore was an old A1 style colt that a cousin's friend had bought used (i think it was made in the 70's or 80's). So basically my question is does anyone out there have an unchromed model or can comment about chrome vs non. Should i dish out for chrome and will i regret it if i don't? Will the extra initial cost balance out with extended barrel life and will the chrome make it substantially more reliable? I've done my research and I think dpms makes a good starter gun which I can always sell when I get the urge to upgrade. So if anyone could comment about the chrome issue as well as anything helpful about the cheaper dpms flattops it would be very much appreciated! Btw: the other model I was entertaining was a mid range yankee hill that did have the chrome bore as well as the century c93 (yes I know not an ar) but I scrapped the c93 because of reportedly sloppy builds consistant with century on a rifle (hk33) that otherwise demands extreme precision along with the unnaceptable tendency to chew up precious brass and launch it into orbit. Thanks again.

  • Difficulty deciding on a semi automatic rifle?

I've always wanted an ar15 style rifle but never wanted to drop 1200+ on one gun (just couldn't justify to myself) but have accumulated 750 for a new range toy and have narrowed it down to an ak47 type rifle, mini 14 and of course the very basic model of S&w mp15, which my local gun store has for 700. I just wanted to know if anyone who has owned either (or preferably all 3) can comment on their experiences or give suggestions. I know the former is a very different beast in terms of ballistics, handling characteristics, etc. but I shoot primarily on a 25 yard and 50 yard range so accuracy is not the end all be all of it (that's what I got the bolts for). Thanks for your help.

  • My dad is looking to acquire a 1911?

Well my dad decided he wants a new pistol after selling his old one a few years back. The complication, however, is that he is currently on probation for a misdemeanor DUI charge. I would buy it for him but that would constitute a straw purchase so that is not an option. What I want to know, basically, is can he legally buy the gun before he completes his probation? We live in Florida by the way and he has no previous convictions or arrests or even unpaid tickets. I apologize if this isn't the correct forum, just figured you guys would be the most knowledgable in this field. Much appreciated.

  • Insurance coverage with DUI involved?

My father recently crashed his car into a van after consuming over the legal limit of alcohol (well over knowing him), and is concerned whether Progressive insurance will cover vehicle damages for him and the other driver. Also notable is that his car is pretty much totaled, I think, and he does have some previous blemishes on his driving record and the car is leased. If someone with some knowledge on these matters would help and give me an idea of what insurance will and will not cover could help it would be much appreciated.

  • Suggestions for a first car....?

I am currently starting my search for a first set of wheels of my own. I am not 100% new to driving, I have about 2 and a half years experience driving other people's cars. I am looking primarily for a used car that is sporty, has a reasonable amount of performance, and is preferably under $13,000. Yes, I know that cheap and sporty don't really go together but I have been looking for awhile now and would like some other ideas.

    Thanks!
