My dad has been charged for a domestic violence case by my mom and she doesn't want to drop any allegations against him. He is being charged for threaten death and assault (not rape). I always try to convince my mom that if he pleads guilty through all of the allegations, he will have a criminal record filed against him. My mom always replys back by saying that if he pleads guilty, they will not do anything but to take him to anger management classes and that she wants all of her rights (divorce, custody of children, equal assets etc). What my dad is proposing so that we do not have to lose money going through the court and the lawyers is that if he could possibly get someone like a sponsor that my mom relies on, and my dad signs everything that she wishes in regards to her rights but to just drop the criminal case against him. I am just wondering is it really true if you drop these allegations, can you still go through a quick divorce (how quick??:S) if he is in agreement with everything my mom wants. And if he is in agreement with my mom about everything she wants, is it possible to drop the criminal case against him and still go through with giving her what she wants. He is willing to do anything even to sign on everything she wants with sponsors of some sort or any alternatives for that matter. What will be the concenquences if he does say guilty? Just confused with what the law says? Please, I would like this confusion cleared, and whoever answers this will be truely a hero since this is a big family problem and it has been bothering me and my sisters for about 3 months now. Also, if possible, please try to include the best reliable sources you got this info from so I can see if it is true. Thank you
