  • My dog is both hyper and stubborn what should I do!?

My 10 month old Boxer lab mix is extremely cute, big, hyper and stubborn. She is huge and can jump as high as she needs to reach the face of even a 6 foot man. She constantly assaults people with her big paws. As I understand one way to get her to stop jumping is to take her on walks yet she refuses to walk on a leash though she will follow behind us when we walk, she lets us get a distance ahead and then she catches up. We however live in the city and there are far too many factors that can be dangerous doing this. Aside from the jumping she's pretty well behaved she does not like being to far away from us so she is not a natural wanderer. I just want her to be more comfortable and less leapy!

  • My dog has suffered Head Trauma how can I care for her at home?

My poodle was hit by a car last week she was very week and the only visible sign of injury was a scrape on her left eye. We took her to the vet and she was given hydrocortizone, oxygen and pain meds other things i'm sure in her Iv. Her gums were pale but they sent her home to see if she would make it thru the night with headt trauma. Her x-rays neck down were fine just minor bruising. The next morning I took her to the animal hospital where she has been for seven days. Everyday she is so much stronger and moving more x-rays were never taken above the neck. She seems alert and aware but she does not stand or sit up. I tried giving her water through a syringe and she lapped it up. She moves her head but only holds it to one side she also kicks and moves her legs and tail. She just seems like such a fighter I hate to give up on her the doctor said yesterday that she won't make it. I think I want to bring her home to see if she is anymore responsive in a natural environment with better care. We left her in the hospital for the Iv but they don't seem to turn her or try to feed her other than the iv. She is in a good hospital but I wonder if the conditions allow for her to be less active. I did not expect a miracle I just hoped for one but like I said she seems strong and does not whince or wine to any touch although you can tell if she does not like something becuse she will move her whole body away from you and only then raise her neck to look at you. She was always quiet she never cried or whimpered much even as a puppy! Please help there is little info on head trauma except that it happens. I want to know if there are treatments or therapy she may benefit from.
