  • Are companies obliged to report health and safety breaches to police!?

    I'm an employee working in the UK with a company I shall not name. Recently I flew with my flying device over one of this company's facilities at a height, which I later found out to be below the low flying rule 5 of the CAA air-law.

    Even though I didn't cause any damage, the company has identified the height at which I flew at also as a breach of health and safety. I have gone and formally excused myself with the company for my conduct and unintended breach of health and safety and the CAA air-law, however the company still intends to undertake disciplinary action against me, threatening to report me to the police even though I'm their own employee. What I wish to know is, do companies have a legal obligation to report to the police or other legal authorities, when there is a breach of their internal health and safety regulations and/or a breach of an external law such as the air-laws of the CAA? Can a company choose not to report a person to the police or are they obliged to do so if they have collected CCTV evidence of his acts?

    In hindsight what I did was potentially somewhat dangerous however I never intended to endanger anyone at my company. Now I feel like a big ****-storm is heading my way and I just wish to know what my possibilities are in such a situation. Any advice and information is appreciated.

  • Why is anything to the power of 0 equal to 1 ?

    technically any number to the power of 0 means its being multiplied by 0 times itself therefore its being multiplied by 0 or nothing.

    so why is for example 10^0 = 1

    if 10^0= 10x 0 .... which should =0 and NOT 1

  • Why is the inverse of Y=10^x --> X=10^y?

    If you u substitute X and Y with real values this doesnt work

    e.g. Y=100 X=2

    100=10^2 --> normal formula works (Y=10^x)

    2=10^100 --> what supposedly is the inverse (X=10^y) makes no sense.

    so why do we say that the inverse of Y=10^x is X=10^y if its not true?

  • What is the difference between a long and a short rear suspension spring on the same suspension piston???

    I have a fully suspended bicycle with a rear suspension with 100mm travel. A couple of days ago I found another suspension on an abandoned bike. I unmounted it and brought it home to see if I could use it. The piston itself is rusty and unusable, however the spring itself from the suspension seems to be fine and is also longer by 1.5cm then the spring on my current bike's suspension. I was wondering whether its worth to therefore to substitute my current short spring on my bikes suspension with the long spring I found, keeping my currents suspension's piston however?

    Both springs have the same diameter and measurements (750x38) so technically the spring I found fits on my current piston. I would like to know what the difference would be if I substituted the short spring with the longer one and whether its worth it?

    Here's an image of a suspension similar to mine which's spring I'd like to substitute with a longer 1:

  • Help, what should I do to take care of my turtle's eggs and make them hatch?!?!?!?

    Just this morning my mom found some eggs on the concrete semi-balcony of my garden which were probably laid by my turtles. The eggs strangely weren't burried in the garden area beneath the earth but just layed on the concrete surface of the semi-balcony instead. Anyway my mom picked them up and burried them momentarily in a small pot with some moist earth. Theres a total of 3 eggs and i have no idea how I should take care of them to make sure they hatch. In fact i don't even know whether they are fertile nor what species my turtles are. I uploaded a photo of my turtles on imageshack. My trutles have been living in this house before I got here and are around 18 years old. The garden has no pond or water reserve which makes me think they are land turtles. Please someone help me make these eggs hatch, I'd be really greatfull.
