  • Yahoo notifications don't seem to be working?

There is a little bell on the tool ribbon that tells you when someone has responded to a post you have made about a news story.

It is no longer working. I have tried switching browsers using firefox and internet explorer but neither one works.

Is there something wrong with yahoo?

  • Can anyone tell me how wages rise under Right to Work laws?

I live in Indiana where the state legislature recently passed a Right to Work law. A couple of months ago while this was being debated I kept seeing TV commercials saying that in states with Right to Work laws wages actually rise.

If a company were considering moving here and Right to Work were a deciding factor; logic would dictate that they would want to pay lower wages not higher ones. Can anyone tell me how this is possible or probable?

Keep in mind that smart a$$ answers from the left or right aren’t likely to convince anyone.

  • Does anyone out there think there can be some kind of compromise between the Democrats and Republicans on the?

Please no BS or smarta$$ answers.

How can the Republican majority think they can solve this crisis by only cutting discretionary spending and not raising taxes? How can Democrats think this problem can be solved without reforming Social Security and Medicare?

It seems to me that American politics have become more divisive and nasty and I was just wondering if anyone thinks that both sides can come to some sort of compromise. Once the economy improves will we see any kind of sanity return?

  • What is the green sticker for on the back of some football helmets?

Last night I was watching the Colts-Ravens game and my Wife noticed green stickers on some of the players helmets. I didn't seem to be team specific as they were on both sides, but not on all of the players helmets.

We were curious and hoped someone could shed some light on this.

  • Looking for people who have personally experienced racism/descrimination.?

I have an assignment in my Human Development class and need opinions from people who are different from me in one aspect of human diversity, ie. age, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, ethnicity, class, or geographical location or class. The assignment asks the following questions and is totally anonymous.

    1. Describe one situation where this aspect of diversity affected your life in some way, either negatively or positively.

    2. Discuss whether you have ever felt discriminated against or treated differently on the basis of this difference, how you felt and how you reacted.

    3. Are there any policies in place that have affected you in some direct way? How might these policies be changed?

    Any input would be appreciated!

    Thanks so much

  • I think I have a virus but Norton’s antivirus can’t find it.?

    I basically have 2 problems.

1st the scroll wheel on my mouse won’t work anymore. It worked fine yesterday and this is a new problem. 2nd Internet Explorer isn’t working properly. I have a cable modem and pages load slowly, Netscape and Firefox are also installed, they behave normally. My wife prefers internet explorer and that is where we have all out favorites saved.

I use a licensed copy of Norton antivirus 2004, Norton has found nothing wrong. The subscription doesn't expire until the end of the month. Any help given is greatly appreciated.

  • Is it possible to make home made I joists?

I have a house that was built in 1870. One of the rooms needs to have the joists replaced; the floor is in bad shape they are warped and badly bowed. The problem is the old joists are 14” tall and 2 ½” wide, if I replace them with standard 2x12s the floor won’t come out to the right height. Same problem if I buy I joist from the local home center. I am afraid the cost to special order them would be prohibitively expensive.

Could I rip a 2x6 in half, rip OSB to the proper size, then use an expanding glue like gorilla glue to assemble everything; making sure it is well clamped?

Would this be strong enough to meet building codes? Where can I find span tables to make sure?
