1 AnswerPhotography1 decade agoLens for concert photos? f1.8 or f1.4?
I want to try my hand at some local rock concerts, and i know i need a faster lens to do it with. I've got a D80 with the stock 15-55 (f3-5.6) and i was thinking about adding either a 50mm or a 35mm 1.8 or 1.4. The nikon 1.8 is only $100, is the 1.4 worth the 200 premium? Also i was considering the 35mm, because it would be closer to the true 50mm on my non-full frame camera.

Im interested in shooting local bands, but i want to make some cash doing it. Has anyone had any experience approaching local bands or local papers about earning cash doing these gigs. I was thinking of trying to put together a photo essay and shopping it to the local mags/papers.

2 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoNikon vs Canons? is it just the little things?
While i see everyone has their opinions, are the real differences just the little things? Like, ergos, menu interface, button placement, and where in the product line they include certain features? I dont have a preference so far, but havent done much with nikons (i work with canon, am loosing access to all gear soon), and now i found a d80 kit with lens for 570 so im probably going to buy it.
7 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoHow do 4:3 DSLRs compare with nikon/canons?
i saw the micro 4-3 from panasonic (G1) and im impressed because it reduces moving parts. Thinking about beginning my kit with a 4:3 camera.

6 AnswersPhotography1 decade agois there a large difference between the macbook and the pro?
http://www.barefeats.com/mbook3.html
according to this link the benchmarks look pretty even. I do a lot of photo-shopping work and plan on putting 4gb of ram in the macbook. Am i missing something or are they very similar for my needs. Dont need firewire 800, dont need expansion port, dont need lighted keyboard, and found out i can add a larger monitor with better resolution.

2 AnswersOther - United States1 decade ago9"eeepc or dell 1525? is the dell worth the headache?
I am deployed to the middle east and am looking for a cheap laptop that i can use to skype and web browse on a wifi network we have here. The only reason i considered the dell was because i found a sub-500 priced 1525 on their refurb page. If i got the dell i could install photoshop which would help because i am a military photographer.
I dont want to spluge on something and then the dust kill it, thats why i like the all solid state eeepc.
Are the sub $500 1525 dell laptops worth the bloatware for the possiblity of running a sluggish photoshop?
I dont play computer games or watch a lot of movies so the optical drive/linux doesnt bother me.
