  • Orion SpaceProbe 130ST or Celestron NexStar 6 SE?

    Hi!

Never star gazed before. Wanting to get started. These two scopes have caught my attention. I'm not new to physics or mechanics to setup/use doesn't bother me, but easy is still a plus. I'm looking at these two scopes trying to decide. One's a Newtonian, and the other a Cassegrain. Technically they appear to be at least a little similar, in that they both are reflective in nature. I live in suburban area, so there will be light pollution to deal with. Plus I might want to put my Canon DSLR on it to take a pic once in a while.

I see many positive reviews for the Orion scope. But the computer control of the Celestron and the lower add-on part prices makes that one ultimately cheaper in the long run (after I buy all accesseries for the Orion that is...) Either route will put me into about $1000 in the end. I just can't find good articles with decent explanations of the differences between these two types of scopes. They are quite similar to so many ways, being reflective based and such, from what I see. Can anyone provide some more insight or suggestions? Especially someone who's used both types before?

    Thanks!

  • Technically, how is Blu-Ray better than HD DVD?

I've been searching and searching the internet and other places, but I have yet to find any details on how Blu-Ray is better than HD DVD in technical terms. I know there is the size thing, but I was told that the size difference comes from the change in disc structure making Blu-Ray worse. So I don't think that counts. Can anyone give any real technical information on how Blu-Ray is better? Or even maybe the opposite, how is HD DVD better than Blu-Ray? Many articles on web sites say it's better, but they never give the details on why. It seems there is something that we should know, but nobody wants to talk about it. What's the real story here?

  • What movie (80's? 70's?) was that Pepsi ad in that changed the VHS prices?

Back just before VHS home movies caught on, Pepsi was the first to put an advertisment in the front of a VHS movie in order to allow the studio to lower the price of movies. Previously, VHS movies were $70 per movie, with the start of ads, they went to $20. What movie was that?

  • Can you explain the difference between a router and a gateway?

I know that functionally they are basically identical, but some equipment I've seen allows a change between these two modes. Can you provide a good difference reason between the modes. Examples are a plus.

  • Is it possible to put an ISO image onto a USB stick drive and boot from it?

I've got a bootable ISO image that I'm wondering if there is a tool (not a process, but a software tool) to copy that ISO image to the USB drive and boot from that drive. I've built DOS bootable USB drives, but this ISO is Linux. Most instructions I've seen are way too complicated.

  • What's the best free network system information tool?

I've got 50 computers in a small NT domain. What's the best tool for gathering all the sys info from all the computers on the network? Where can I download it. Free is best, but small price wouldn't be bad.

  • Was this worth a violation? or is Yahoo being to sensitive?

I recieved a "violation" e-mail about an answer I gave. The question was "is drip or press coffee better?" I answered "coffee is coffee" and recieved a violation from that answer. I've had both type of coffee and really can't tell any difference. So my answer was sincere. Is that right, or is Yahoo being too sensitive?

  • About the Yahoo Answers "Thank You"...?

When is everyone going to realize the "thank you" is not anything sent to you? It's just a virtual "pre-thank you" stated in the instructions for using Yahoo Answers. No where in the instructions does it state you will recieve anything in your e-mail or other method.

  • Why don't people use DVI on LCD monitors only?

I read so many reviews of LCD monitors for gaming and hear how badly the monitor "ghosts". When are folks going to realize that using the VGA connector is what causes the majority of that problem? With VGA you go digital->analog->digital. Using DVI it's pure digital all the way, which eliminates the majority of LCD gaming problem.. I'd like to see the manufacturer's stop making LCD's with analog ports on them. Then the stupid reviews would stop.

Lots of questions, too many of them recieving an "answered" status much too soon. Shouldn't they be required to stay open for a length of time. At least a couple of days?
