  • Is it legal to sign up for gmail with a psuedonym?

Are there any legal issues if I should choose to not give my real name to Google? And if there are, what's the worst they would do (for example, close the account? Or close all of my accounts?)

I checked the ToS for Gmail, but they aren't really clear about it.

    Thanks

  • How safe would it be to plug one surge protector into another?

In my particular case, my main goal is not to make more outlets to plug stuff in, but rather to split up what I already have plugged in between two different surge protectors, with one plugged into the other. Basically, I would like to have my desktop PC, monitor, and external hard drive plugged into the second surge protector so I can power it off at the switch when I'm not using it (to stop vampire drainage). I'm not really planning to plug alot more stuff in than what I have now. So, I assume the power draw would be approximately the same.

Will this be safe? Will the chance of an electrical fire increase much as long as the current energy usage doesn't significantly increase?

    Thanks,

    Hibba

  • What are the symptoms of a malfunctioning throttle position sensor on a '93 Plymouth Sundance?

We've recently been having issues with the car hesitating to move when trying to accelerate from a full stop. Someone thought that it may be the "throttle position sensor." Could someone list the symptoms of a malfunctioning throttle position sensor for me, please?

  • What can cause a 1993 Plymouth Sundance to hesitate?

Sometimes after coming to a full stop, it hesitates to accelerate for a few seconds. Basically, it only goes about 3-5 MPH for a few seconds before it starts to really accelerate again, despite having the gas pedal down (sometimes almost flooring it).

We don't think it's the brakes, they seemed ok. Does anyone happen to have any ideas what might cause it? I can provide more details if necessary.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Can you use the EU version of Warcraft III in USA?

    Hi all,

I have a European version of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and was wondering if it can be used in America/and or to play on American servers? Or is it European only?

    Thanks!

  • Urgent Mac help, please?

I'm in some bad need of help with our Mac. We wanted to TRY Linux on it through a LiveCD (Not install it, just load it up and try it). So, I burnt the disk and set Mac OS X to boot from it from System Preferences > Start-up Disk.

Next, it booted from the disk, but we could never quite get it to display the desktop. So, we turned it off and taken the disk out (Note that we never actually installed Linux, only ran it from the LiveCD). Now, when we turn on the Mac, it won't respond to keyboard/mouse input, brings up a gray screen for about 20-30 seconds and then go blank for a few seconds before bringup up another black screen with a blinking white cursos(?) in the upper-left corner.

We can not seem to get it to accept any keyboard/mouse commands, such as holding down the otion key at boot up nor resetting the PRAM.

Any help on this would be appreciated!

    Thank you!

  • What is causing multiple hard drive failures on my computer?

On my computer, I've gone through about 4 hard drives, if not more, now. Granted, one may have had been caused by when I jarred the computer when it was on, and my latest HD may just be getting old (not dead yet, but showing problems). But it seems like something is damaging my hard drives. I took it to the store where I bought it and had the technician look at it. He said it was because I had all 24 power pins going to the motherboard along with the other 4 (I believe; it might be 6, don't think it's quite 8) pins going to the CPU power, which kind of "overpowered" it. I'm a little skeptical of this, but followed his advice and removed the extra 4 pins from the 24 one. Now, finally, the HD I bought from him looks like it's dying after a couple years of light use (although it may have been used when I bought it). If you're wondering, it is showing errors at boot time about not being able to read it, when it could read it yesterday. What do you all think is causing it? Perhaps it was being over-powered on my previous hard drives and this last incident was just a coincidence? Or maybe a defect somewhere?

    More details about the computer:

    P4M800PRO -M motherboard

    Intel Celeron 3.6Ghz

450 Watt power supply, I think.

    All HDs were EIDE

    Last used OS: FreeBSD 8.1-RELEASE-p1

Finally, I am aware that jarring the case while the computer is on can cause it. I may have done that from time to time, I admit, but I do not think it is the cause for every case.

    Thanks!

  • How well does The Sims 2 run on a newer Mac Mini?

    Hi all,

With those newer Mac Minis at www.Apple.com, I was wondering how well they would handle The Sims 2? For example, will it run slow or will it get fairly decent performance? If you have any first-hand experience, please feel free to chime in :-).

  • Connect to Apple's Parental Controls from Linux?

    Hi all,

Apple Mac OS X 10.5 has a built in parental controls feature that you can remotely access from another Mac. Does anyone know how to do access them from Linux? I was told something about finding what plist it uses and modifying that through SSH. Is there a less complicated way to do it?

    Thanks

  • What licenses and permits would I need to get for a home business in Oregon?

I'm planning to try to buy goods from people who will "drop-ship," and sell them on eBay. Drop-shipping means that when someone buys one of my items and pays me, I then contact the drop-shipper who sends the item directly to the customer. In the above case, I will never actually handle the sold item. Also, I may do some normal wholesale buying, in which case I actually have the physical items.

Could anyone tell me what permit(s) and/or licenses I would need, and how to get them, for selling items on eBay from home as described above? Thank you!

  • Dell Inspiron 1000 BIOS password?

My family just bought a Dell Inspiron 1000 secondhand, and someone who had it before us apparently had set the BIOS password. I can not seem to change the BIOS settings or even boot into Windows without it. Does anyone know how to get by it/reset it? Is there a way to reset the CMOS like with a desktop computer, if that would help?

    Thanks!

  • Would it be difficult to write a game for both Linux and FreeBSD?

Would it be very hard to write a computer game for both FreeBSD and Linux? If the game was written for FreeBSD, would the code need alot of modifications to run on Linux?

I guess it kind of depends on the game....

    Thanks.

Where would the wiring harness for the tail lights be put in a 77 Chev, Series 20 (also known as a "Party Van", engine size of 350)? The person who wanted me to ask wanted to know if the harness is inside or outside the vehicle.

    Thanks,

  • If a video game becomes public domain, are the characters in the game no longer copyrighted?

I guess that all of the pixels in the game would be public domain, but what about the characters in the game?

For example, if Sonic the Hedgehog, or other popular video game character, is in a game that is later released as public domain, does that mean that the creators also give up the copyright of Sonic? As in, anyone could put Sonic in a game that they made?

  • Would/should this ram work in my Powerac G4 533 mhz processor desktop?

I used a few different sites, such as Crucial and 4allmemory, and I think I found the right kind of memory for my G4 Desktop (533 mhz processsor, I believe it was called "Digital Audio"), but the price was rather high. Does anyone know if the memory listed here should work: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPa... ?
