I'm a guy who loves life, fitness, health, nutrition, spirituality, information, and sex.

  • Is our relationship a lost cause, or is this just a game... or what?

I just want some mixed opinions from guys and girls both on this topic.

About 3 months ago a girl approached me and asked me if I would like her number. She is 23 and I am 30 (in case any of you wondered) She was cute so I took it and asked her to dinner. Things went well and we really hit it off I thought, but I didn't hear from her again for another couple of days. I figured she was just playing hard to get but she claimed to just be very busy (which is possible considering she is working full time and going to school). Anyway, we eventually went out a few more times and I grew very fond of her. But I noticed a trend developing where the closer I tried to get, the further she would push away. It became very frustrating and it was very difficult, but I finally got her to admit she was doing it. She basically told me she'd had some messed up relationships that required her to act like that to keep the guy's attention. She apologized and said it wouldn't happen again. We were terrific for another week or so then she avoided me again so I broke it off. Eventually (about a week later) she made some sort of effort to contact me again on facebook or something which surprised me and I decided to give it another shot after some talking. We were great for another two weeks. Then a guy called her at like 1:30am while she was at my place and I overreacted. I got mad because I don't want guys calling the girl I like in the middle of the night. Her reaction to it was to say it was no big deal, THAT was what made me mad, because to me it was a big deal. Anyway, it wasn't a big fight, she could just tell I was a bit jealous and upset. She avoided me for two more days. I posted a passive aggressive status on facebook saying something to the effect of "people who treat you poorly aren't worth it" and she called me finally, but acted like she was oblivious to the fact that she had been avoiding me until about a half hour of intense discussion finally brought it out that she got scared away by me being mad at that guy calling. She broke up with me. I had already bough part of her christmas gift which was just a can of the 3 flavors of popcorn (she very subtly mentioned that she likes them in the holidays) I delivered that and the card I had gotten for her while she was away and when she returned she called me a couple times, then she called me the next day and the next day. I didn't answer any of them because honestly, I've never gotten this much attention from her as when I have been ignoring her. I think what happened is that when I gave her the popcorn, the fact that I picked up on such a small thing that she liked, showed her how much I truly care for her. I don't really know. But I REALLY REALLY REALLY like this girl and I am terrified that if I answer her calls that she won't want me anymore. I know it's a stupid game, I don't want to be playing it, I just want to be with her, am I just being stupid? A couple of my friends think that no matter what I do she'll only want what she can't have. Others tell me to call her and that I am dumb for ignoring her when she finally has called! My plan was to call her back or answer at the first sign of her saying something which was actually NICE instead of being vague or neutral which has been the case thus far, but I don't really see that happening. I want to be tough enough to show her that I won't be a doormat, but soft enough to make her know she is wanted and cared about. HELP! lol

  • Hard Drive never actually "idle"??? Windows setting maybe?

I just installed a Western Digital 320Gb 7200rpm HDD into my HP Pavilion. It's cool, quiet while running, works great. Only thing is that whenever it sits idle for a minute, the HDD will make a very very small click/spooling sound once about every 30 seconds or so. It only lasts for a second. Its very quiet, but I've just been wondering what the heck it is! I am thinking it might be some kind of setting in Windows or something I have set wrong. Any ideas??? I was thinking it might be a service doing something, It doesn't make that little noise while in use. I've never had one do this. I'm not really alarmed because it still works great. I'm just completely baffled as to why it would do that.

  • Men's Fashion, I'm a 28 year old guy who is fashionably challenged....?

Like my heading says I am a 28 year old guy who knows nothing of fashion. I have been into fitness now for about 5 years. I am 6'4" 200lbs right now. I'm not totally ripped but girls are starting to often compliment me and say I look like a model and all this stuff... only afterward they always make fun of my clothes.

I just usually shop at Kohl's because my sister works there and she get's me good deals on stuff and is generally fun to shop with. I usually get T-shirts that are pretty colorful or wild or have funny sayings on them, and I get like levi's lowrising boot cut pants, or I like cargo shorts. The magazines I read usually don't even show guys in street clothes let alone tell me where to shop or how to look good. If they do, they tend to show men's suits and more formal fashion.

I don't want to look like any certain type of style like "emo" or "rap" or whatever, I can't classify myself like that because I am very diverse, also if I went by what type of music I like (minimal) I would dress all metrosexual and weird, and I am really NOT feminine at ALL so I don't want to be like teeny bopper trendy, but I want to learn to dress like a really hot cajual/semi-casual 25-35 year old guy.

I guess what I'm asking here is girls, if you were dating a guy kinda like me how would you dress me? What stores would we shop at etc. I want links! Or guys, where do you shop? again I want links! Or, girls when you're out at clubs or bars, what style of clothing is eyecatching or appealing to you?

I know most of this stuff is gonna come down to just trying things on and then going with what I feel best in, but I want to go someplace new besides Kohl's. Where do hot guys (who aren't girly) my age shop?

I worked really hard to get my body in shape, but I am still failing to be hot just because of my clothes. That is easily fixable so that's what I'm gonna try!

  • Quantum Mechanics Question.?

I am curious. My understanding of Quantum Theory is that one of its statements is that a given particle has an infinite number of possible locations at any given time and in explanations I've heard the professors sometimes state the particle could possibly be in infinite positions at one time, and that once we observe it then it settles in one spot for that moment and as soon as we look away it's back to acting like a string and being everywhere all at once.

My question is that if that is true and a particle could be in an infinite number of places at one time... then wouldn't the object that the atom in question was a part of have an infinite mass until we observe it? Because if one atom has one particle but that one particle can occupy an infinite number of places at one time its mass is infinite I would think... right? But it obviously doesn't do that because any object with infinite mass would suck the whole universe in. So why would people say things like this? Is it just oversimplification? Or am I just not smart enough to understand this yet?

  • Trigonometry Radian Measure Question.?

In the book I'm using it asks you to convert Degrees to Radian and back. When it gives you radian measure to convert to degrees it gives you something like convert pi/4 to degrees.

When it gives you degrees and wants you to switch it to Radians it wants you to express it the same way like pi/5 instead of just leaving it the long decimal .6283185307 which is what pi/5 actually IS.

So here's my problem. It wants me to convert 30 degrees to radian measure. Easy...

    (pi*30)/180=.5235987756

BUT!!! knowing how they want the answer in that pi format I just had to mess around and kept dividing pi by different numbers until I finally figured out that pi/6 = .5235987756

That WAS the answer they wanted (I looked in the back of the book to check.)

The problems do get more complex though and there are answers such as 3pi/5 etc.

So my question is... What am I missing? What can I study to learn to be able to express the long decimal output I get from my conversion equation into that pi/n format?

I've thought about this a lot and I can do it pretty easily for angles less than 180 degrees for the most part but I still have to be guessing and trial and error number punching SUCKS.

I feel really stupid right now and I don't know anyone who likes math let alone who can help me with Trigonometry. lol

    So please help me!!!!

    Thanks SO VERY MUCH!!! :)

  • HDTV as a Monitor... DVI-I or S-video?

Out of the back of my video card I have 2 DVI-I ports and one S-Video port.

    Video Card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

I have one S-Video to component (blue red green rca plugs) adapter on hand.

    I also have a DVI-I to D-Sub cable.

    Or I have a S-video cable.

I've also seen where they have DVI-I to HDMI cables out now.

The TV I got is a 37 inch 1080p Vizio VO37LF. From looking at the specs I can see that I could use any of those hookups to connect my computer to it...

    TV - http://www.compusa.com/applications/searchtools/it...

I'm planning to use it mostly for gaming and watching movies via DVD or Bluray drive in my computer or sometimes using a tv tuner card.

So my question is, what input/output combo would you use? Are they all the same? Or will one give me better results? Thanks!

  • Two Girlfriends, I love both.?

First off I am not really proud of this... and I know I shouldn't have gotten here but somehow things worked this way so here it is.

I got myself into this situation recently where I met two girls via work (I am a DJ at a college bar) and was innocently talking to one (girl 1) as friends I thought, and didn't have a chance with the other (girl 2).. I thought... within a week I had gotten comfortable with girl 2. We hung out a few times then ended up making out one night. Then the following night girl 1 who I was just friends with and I went to a Basketball game then hung out at her place. She came onto me and we ended up having sex. As a footnote, that was her first time EVER having sex so I took her virginity without even knowing until I was... ANYWAY... We parted on a good note but still back at the just friends vibe somehow like I had just done her a favor by taking her virginity so some drunk jock didn't do it later... lol

I hung out with girl 2 again the following night and we got it on too. After that I knew I was in deep crap because they are both smoking hot and have awesome personalities too. So what did I do? I was honest and told them both I was seeing them.

At first they were both pissed but they both like me a lot too and THEIR arrangement is to give me time to decide between them. Riiiiiight. Its impossible. Also as time progresses I love them both more and more. Contrary to popular beliefs you CAN love more than one person at a time evidently.

Of course my initial idea was to get them to make out with each other, tried it and the virgin ended up crying her eyes out... it was really bad. But then another night we all cuddled all night and it was AWESOME. We didn't get it on or anything that night and it was SO cool.

Anyway... I just want to see what kinds of crazy replies this gets. Its a true story 100%

Its like together they make my perfect girl, and apart they are both cool enough to be with but neither of them are better than the other really. They are both VERY sexy, talented, young, loving, loyal, intelligent, responsible girls. NEITHER of them smoke at all or drink much at all, both in awesome shape, both love me to death. Its crazy. What would you do?

  • SPDIF Output from soundcard into 5.1 or 7.1 receiver?

My Edirol FA-101 has SPDIF digital out (TOSLINK) and from what I can tell that means that I can plug a toslink cable into that and feed it to the digital input of a surround sound receiver and have at least 5.1 surround sound for when I want to watch movies. I don't want to go out buying a surround sound system before I know though. I need to keep this soundcard because it is a very high quality audio device that I have feeding 2 event tr8 studio monitors, but if I can set up a secondary soundsystem using this spdif I'd be so happy.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Floppy Drive A: (but I don't even have one)?

Under My Computer when I go look at all my drives it shows them all properly but it also lists "Floppy Drive A:" I built this computer last year and I guess I was just so used to actually having a floppy drive that my brain didn't realize it shouldn't be there.

I know its not hurting anything, and I don't even care really, I just thought it was interesting. Pretty sure I can just disable the hardware it thinks it has and then install to remove the icon, but it doesn't really bother me.

My question is, Do YOU have a floppy drive? If not does it appear in your My Computer like mine does? Or is my computer just freakishly awesome?

If you are curious I have Vista 32bit 2 big HDD and one cd/dvd burner drive installed and that's it for drives.

  • Best online FPS for PC?

I was playing Crysis Wars when it first came out and it was AWESOME. Lots of people were playing and the servers were all fun. Now it's fizzled out and nobody plays that anymore. I am looking for a really really fun online first person shooter for PC. I'd love it if the graphics were cool and it had lots of maps and weapons.

  • How to calculate inherited piano's value?

My grandmother just passed away and left me a Wurlitzer upright piano in beautiful condition. It's been regularly tuned and maintained all its years. Its has no visible signs of wear or abuse. All I know is that she got it from a retail store in town back in 1990 and paid nearly $3500.

    Model # 2880

    Serial # 1796046

    My questions are:

    1. How is the value of such an item calculated?

    2. What is a good estimate of its value?

I'm not trying to resell it, I just want to know so I can tell my insurance agent and for my own personal reference.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Multiply two tangents?

Ok, just for fun I've been studying Trigonometry. I am just fascinated by triangles. I bought this book that gives various exercises and its been pretty friendly and easy to follow up until now. The scenario I am stuck on is this. You are x distance away from a cliff that is h tall. You don't know either of those numbers but you know that from where you are standing the angle A2 is a certain number of degrees. (we assume you know that number) then you back up a distance of d and measure the angle from there to the top of the cliff is A1 (and know that measurement too) so knowing only the angles and the distance between you are supposed to be able to figure out all the lengths of all the sides.

    The book gives this diagram

    http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/15/l_7...

    and says this.

"let x be the distance from the base of the cliff to the first point. (A1) Then h/x = tanA1 and h/(x+d)= tanA2 from that we can derive," (and I dont know how to type this out the way they have it in the book on this yahoo answers thing but its in my picture I've got linked here...)

    "(d tanA1 tanA2) / (tanA1 - tanA2) = h"

I follow everything up until they give that last formula. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out WHY that is true.

The point of studying this is so that if we only know the magnitude of A1 and A2 and we know d (the distance between them) with just those 3 numbers you can get the rest of the measurements of this scenario.

So its not that I don't understand my functions, I know that the Tangent is a ratio of the length of the Opposite to the Adjacent sides. But why is it that in this situation that multiplying the two tangents and the distance between them then dividing that number by the difference between the two tangents gives us h???

Also what can I research to give me a more complete understanding of WHY and HOW this is true. I am probably just overthinking this but I really want to know how someone would logically come up with this method of finding the length of a side of a triangle.

  • Possible deduction Ideas...DJ work related?

Ok, I posted asking about filing my income taxes and all that a little while ago and if you saw that one I have good news since then. If not, what the situation is, is that I am have been a DJ all year and that is my only job. I do it for a nightclub as an independent contractor.

I have some new questions now though. I made a lot of equipment purchases this year. They were all made online. I bought a new laptop to use in dj'ing and built myself an amature home recording studio for making and editing demos complete with a custom desktop computer.

I DID find proof of ALL the significant purchases I made. They are all invoices from either paypal or from the actual merchant. Will my paypal invoices work as valid proof of purchase? They have the amount, order number, date, all that info and are actual receipts.

Also I know I can deduct milage, and gas and food to some extent, have any good ways to do this?

Are there any other good and honest deductions you can think of?

How can I calculate the depriciation of the equipment I use?

Thanks so much. Just ask if you need more info!

  • Internal SATA Blu Ray Drive WITH REMOTE?

I have a pretty nice computer I built myself. I am now probably going to get something like a 32 - 40" LCD tv and hook it up as an alternate monitor so I can watch movies. I am interested in getting a Blu Ray drive for my computer but I was wondering if anyone knew of how I could hook up a remote conrol of some sort or if you know of a drive that comes with one.

My PC is not a "Media Center" pc so it doesn't have a remote with the motherboard or anything.

I don't really have a problem just getting a cordless mouse and keyboard if need be, but I would prefer a simple remote.

    Any ideas?

  • Tax problem: I'm an Independent Contractor, I NEED HELP!!! :(?

In previous years I have always had a regular job, and then on the side done random DJ stuff that was too few and far between to worry about on my taxes. so I've always just gotten a regular employee's tax return and gotten it done and always had extra taxes taken out so that I would always get a nice big return.

However, This year I have worked for place A making $200/week. The owner of the business told me early on that he never sends his DJ a 1099 because it is just an enetertainment expense to him and his accountant. He pays me with a regular check weekly. I was dating a girl at the beginning of the year who is an accountant. She said that I shouldn't worry about it since its such a small amount of money and just not file this year, but next year I would keep track of my iincome and expenses, and file as an independent contractor.

Now that I am almost to the end of the year I just got place B in addition to that gig and it pays me $130/week, the owner asked me for my info and I told him that I just take a regualar check for my services and he refused and says that he is audited all the time so he has to either put me on payroll or 1099 me. So I Chose payroll since that means he'd remove taxes and it would be fine. I knew though, that it was going to look stupid to turn in a tax return on like $800 for a year. But whatever, anyway... He ignored it and just sent me a check with no taxes taken out. So I am assuming that if I cash this he is going to 1099 me.

So here are the questions I have.

    1. Is there a minimum amount that you can make as an independent contractor and not even have to file? Or do I really have to file a 1099 for this? By the time I do taxes I doubt I'll have even earned $800 from this guy.

2.If I do indeed have to file on it or even if I didnt have to I just chose to file it anyway for just the hypothetical $800 year... would they question how I survived on $800 all year?

    3. Is there a minimum amount of money the IRS would bother auditing?

    4. If they did audit me or whatever on the small amount of income I've had this year, and figured that I owe lets say $3000 to them, I have bought equipment and repaired things and have had a lot of expenses this year that I don't still have every reciept for, but are honest things that would be deductions from my taxable income. So do I have to have and file my receipts for EVERY expense I had? Or can I ballpark estimate them conservatively and have that work?

I have NO problem with paying taxes where they are due, I have all my life. But since the girl i trusted advised me not to worry about it this year I haven't set aside the money I normally would have for taxes, nor have I kept any of my receipts on file.

I want to be legal and in full compliance, but I also don't want to lose my butt here. So I am looking for advice on how to do the best thing FOR ME in this situation with the least amount of possible consequences.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Tube of soda? New York?

My Grandmother is reading a book (based in New York present time) and in it they keep referring to cans of pop/soda as tubes. Or at least thats all we can make of it when they say "I had a tube of it earlier" or something like "I got the tube of that earlier". I've never heard that term before and I wondered if maybe anyone else has. Are they really referring to soda? She swears that in context it has led her to believe it is cans of pop.

  • Airplane philosophy is better?

I just took went on a flight on an airplane for the first time today. As I looked out the window at the world I found myself thinking from a whole new perspective and many of my thoughts were philosophical but totally different than usual.. I felt like philosphy was even more fun at high altitude. As I looked down I could more easily grasp ideas of the scope of earth and from such great height It made me realize how small one person really is and at first that made me think, wow, my life doesnt matter at all, but then I thought the flipside to that is that being a good example of a human is just that much more important when there are so many of us. There were tons of different thoughts flowing through my head. It was awesome. I'll always remember it. I guess my question was just, has anyone else noticed themselves thinking philosophically from an airplane or other extremely high altitude? What is your opinion of it?

    Personally I recommend it.
