Hi, I'm Matt, I am 21 yrs old and I hold a BA in mathematics. Currently I am working on my PhD in math at the University of Minnesota. Its fun, I get to teach, take some classes, and learn some stuff. Anyway, if you ever have any math questions, I will try my best to answer them!

  • Credit rating, P/E Ratio, help finding?

I am doing a nonparametric wavelet based regression analysis to predict stock values. I am doing my analysis on IBM. I would like to consider credit rating, interest rate, P/E ratio, divident yield, etc. I am having a very hard time finding these values. I need to find these values along with a history from 1990 to present.

    any help is greatly appreciated.

    thank you

  • Undergraduate physics Degree?

Currently I am an undergraduate Mathematics major, I have satisfied the requirements for the BA Math degree, however, I still have about a year worth of school left. I am hoping that someone could suggest a good place to go for an Undergrad physics degree, or an applied mathematics degree focused on physics.

I would really appreciate any help.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • does this sound right?

I was thinking about volumes and surface areas in n-space of spheres. lets call them n-spheres. I was figuring that the the surface area would be 2(n-1)pi*r^(n-1), the volume would be the integral of that formula, or [2(n-1)/n]*pir^n.

If anyone can comment on that or possibly give me help with other solutions they have heard of or ways to prove this idea let me know, thanks.

Basically it needs to be a contridiction. If anyone can help, point me in a direction, provide a website, anything at all it would be great. Thanks!!

  • Points for Questions?

Ok, I find it extremely annoying when you spend the time to answer peoples questions and they dont take the time to pick teh best answer...especially cause i answer mostly math questions where it does take a bit of time to explain things, people should be nice enough to award the points...also Dont you find it extremely annoying that so many questions are dumb and simple...they shouldnt really be there in the first place!

  • Mathematics?

busy work, for those of you who like math, can you fgure out if there is a number which does not go down to 1 given the following

if the number is even apply the following : n/2

if the number is odd apply the following : 3n + 1

    ex 5

    3(5) + 1 = 16

    16/2 + 8

    8/2 = 4

    4/2 = 2

    2/2 = 1

    3(1) +1 = 4

    4/2 = 2

    2/2 = 1

    repeats...
