With the recent (less that worthless) changes to the group format, I can't figure out how to save pictures from the Photos section. I would appreciate any help you may have in doing this.

  • How do I get Win7 to recognize all of the CPUs in my Intel i7-920?

I seem to be running only 1 core with 2 threads. I tried running msconfig and adjusting the number of processors. It only allowed 1 or 2, but not the 4 that the processor has (it's currently on '2'). However, every testing program I've run still shows 1 cpu, 2 threads. I would appreciate any help with this

  • Why is my IE9 opening links in a new window instead of a new tab?

For some time, IE9 was opening links in new tabs. Suddenly, it's opening lings in new windows. I've checked the setting in the Options->Tabs pane and they are set correctly. I also check my shift key to make sure it isn't sticking. Any other ideas?

And please, don't tell me to use another browser. If I wanted to use another browser, I would

    Thank you for any help

  • How can I fix my Win7 screen saver?

This is for a Windows 7 system.

A couple of day's ago, my screen saver decided to stop working. I've made no changes to my system, neither hardware nor software. There was an error message the last time it was working, but I assumed that it was because I was overloading my system and paid no attention to it (I was running a fair number of programs at the time, eating up my memory and CPU resources). However, ever since, my screen saver hasn't worked. None of the obvious things I tried have worked (trying to restart it from the control panel, etc.). I would appreciate any help with this.

  • Why can't I access this site?

There is a webcomic that I used to be able to access (www.missmab.com). Recently, I could no longer acces the site. The webcomic is still active and others can access it, which leads me to believe that there's something wrong with my system. But I have no idea where to even start looking for the problem. I use Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8. I have also tried to access the site using FireFox 3.6.13. Neither works. I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks

  • Is it possible to read Windows Vista backup files using Windows 7?

A while back, I upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. While on Vista, I regularly backed it up using the built-in Backup facility. What I want to do is look at them using Windows 7 and, recover only those files I want. I specifically don't want to over-write anything I have on Windows 7. Ideally, I would like to recover any desired files to a new folder... different from the original folder (since the original folders either no longer exist, or already have other files in them that I don't want to loose).

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

  • How does a supernova make a black hole?

I understand that the parent star has to be of at least a certain mass. My question is in the mechanics.

As I understand it, the star's nuclear reactions will eventually result in iron which will settle in the core. Since iron doesn't release energy when it fuses, it accumulates and eventually becomes so massive that it can't hold itself up and collapses into a neutron star. This neutron star is squeezed and then rebounds and forces the incoming stellar material outwards ultimately resulting in a supernova.

Now, if the neutron star rebounds, there's no more incoming material to form a black hole. And if the neutron star doesn't rebound, it collapses into a black hole and the incoming material is absorbed, resulting in no supernova.

So, how do you get both?

    Thanks

  • Probability Question?

I have an event E which has a probability of success of p. What I want to know is, how many events must occur before I have a P chance of N events succeeding

For example, assume I have a 10-sided dice. If I roll a '1', it's a success. So the probability of a success is 1/10. How many times would I have to roll the dice to have a 90% chance of having 5 successes?

    Any help would be appreciated

  • What am I doing wrong? (Probability Question)?

I have 24 10-sided dice and want to know what the odds are of rolling a '1' on at least 4 of them. To solve this, I used the following equation:

    24C4 * (1/10)^4 * (10/10)^24

    where

24C4 is the combination of 24 things taken 4 at a time. This counts the number of different ways to roll 4 '1's on 24 dice.

(1/10)^4 is the probability of getting 4 '1's with a 1/10 chance for each '1'

(10/10^4 is the probability of getting anything on the remaining dice. I don't care what these dice roll since I already have the required 4 '1's

The only problem with the equation is that it doesn't work. I keep getting a probability greater than 1

I would appreciate ny help with this

    Thanks

  • Concern about 2012 Doomsday?

My biggest concern about 2012 is Dec 22 2012. On that day, the 2012 doomsday prophecy will be obsolete and I don't know of any good ones to take its place. Are there any new doomsday prophecies in the background ready to take 2012's place?

  • How do I find Integer solutions?

I have, on more than one occasion, needed to find integer solutions to equations with the form of ay = bx + c, where a, b, and c are constants and I need to find integer solutions for x and y. Is there a general way to find these?

Right now, I'm trying to find integer solutions to the equation 22y = 169x - 6500. I know that there is at least one solution, since I found it by accident. But the solution I found doesn't meet the domain requirements of the problem

  • How do I get IE7 to automatically go to a site when I enter search terms?

I used to be able to enter search terms on the address bar and IE7 would automatically go to the appropriate page (For example: I enter "yahoo answers" in the address bar and IE7 would automatically go to answers.yahoo.com).

Recently my computer crashed and I had to reload everything, including upgrading IE6 to IE7. When I did so, I lost the ability I described. Does anyone know how I can get this ability working again?

    Thanks

  • Why didn't Spirit have blades to clean the solar panels?

At one point, Spirit's solar panels were covered with dust which hindered their ability to rechage Spirit's batteries. It was only the fortunate passing of a dust devil that removed this dust. My question is, why didn't the designers design some kind of 'wiper blade' to remove the dust? Was there some 'design philosophy' reason, or did it just not occur to the designers?

    Thanks

  • Instant Fire - Just Add Water?

I thought of this out of the blue and I was wondering if it would actually work (in priciple... I realize that there are a lot of engineering hurdles to overcome).

Take powdered potasium and powdered magnesium. Add a little water. The water and potasium will react, producing heat and hydrogen. The heat will ignite the hydrogen which, in turn will will ignite the magnesium... instant fire

    Will this actually work?
