  • Fender Strat good deal?

I'm looking at getting a Fender Standard Stratocaster w/EMG electronics package and case for $429 used. Is that a good deal? Just want a good guitar that'll handle classic rock/alternative pretty well.

  • Anyone know federal student loans pretty well?

Ok, so I'm a returning student (after 6 yrs) who filled out a FAFSA indicating I was interested in Work-Study and not loans. Surprise, surprise, I've been turned down. But just because my EFC is high doesn't mean I can afford to pay for college. So I'm resubmitting the FAFSA, this time saying that loans would be acceptable too. I really have no idea what I'm getting into though.

I've heard I may not have to start paying back the loan until after I graduate, but does that mean I can't make payments until then? And What if they approve a loan of X amount for me but then I find scholarships that will help. Am I still loaned the same amount? Does the college "bill" the lender up front? I've heard horror stories about people still paying off student loans when their 40, but I don't see another way of getting back into school. Eeek!

  • BORED, need new look, see pic?

Ok, wanna cut my hair, but scared to go too short cuz my face is pretty round. Right now it hits the bottom of my shoulder blades. It's dark blonde/light golden brown and straight with layers begining about an inch below my chin. I need it long enough to still pull the front back out of my face. (no bangs, if I can avoid them) I'm also open to ideas about color too (ex: highlights).

  • 2008 Vice Presidents?

In the past, presidential campaigns have always shown President/Vice President pairings, like Bush/Cheney, Clinton/Gore, etc. But this year, I see only the presidential candidates listed without their counterparts. Why is that? Has something changed in the way the Vice President is elected?

  • Advice on buying entertainment PC?

HPs are so expensive. Are they really worth the money? Are Gateways and Dells just as good? Why or why not?

I'm really just looking for speed and storage capacity for entertainment and school research. My firend suggested PC with a dual-core processor will help.

  • Pitbull breed listing/examples?

Does anyone know of a site that lists the different breeds of pit bulls/amstaffs and the differences between each (preferrably with pics)? I have a beautiful black female with white on her chest and one paw only. Someone suggested she was a colby pit, but I'm not sure.

  • Art technique using a stick and sheet of copper?

I remember a project I did in middle school I liked where we drew a picture with a background and some object or animal in the foregroud, then transfered it somehow to a thin sheet of copper or brass (but not foil) and then used a short, blunted stick (peg?) to rub the back which raised the pattern on the front of it. I think we used sand paper or steel wool to rub the front afterward to shade/lighten the picture. Do you know what this technique is called and what details I might be missing to start this project on my own?

  • Fix /Upgrade laptop or buy a new one?

I have an HP Omnibook 6100 with Windows 2000 on it which needs a reboot disc (due to virus damage), new LCD display bulb and probably upgrades to the memory and speed. I bought it for $350 from a friend about a year ago and only got about 2 months solid use out of it before it quit on me. Should I pay for the list of things above or just go ahead and buy a new one?

  • Adobe Flash Player won't work?

This morning when I turned on my PC there was an update available for my Adobe Flash Player. I didn't look to much at it, just clicked "Install". But when I opened the internet a little while later, all the flash media in my browser wouldn't work. So I rebooted, thinking the update hadn't been activated, but no luck. I can't play games or view much of the content on the sites I visit.

In trying to find out what went wrong, I tried to find the flash player in my Programs list (under Start menu) and couldn't find it. Could I have done something wrong and accidentally deleted it?

  • PC Storage, Memory and Power?

I love computers and m pretty good with them, but I have no idea what all the lingo with mega bytes and ram and pixels and all are. Is there some sort of chart that tells what they all are and how they relate to the computers I use everyday? For instance people keep asking me how fast my new laptop is and I have no idea what to tell them. Since I bought it from a friend and not a retailer, I don't have a list of all it's "stats". How do I find out all that info?
