  • Do I qualify for the $6500 tax credit?

    We lived in our previous home 8 years. We sold that home and moved to our new home which we purchased ON (note the keyword ON) November 6th. I have read many websites, called H&R Block, called the IRS (waited for 15 min and never got an answer) and still do not know the answer to my question. We fit all of the income requirements, but the sticking point is the date. Can anyone help me out with the question?

    I owned my previous home from July 2002 through June 24, 2009

    We moved from TX to MO

    We lived in a rental property for 4 1/2 months

    We purchased a home and closed on November 6, 2009

    We will use and have used both homes as our principal residence

    any explanations will be helpful not just an answer of yes or no
