  • Can you run certain apps on a smartphone without a data plan?

We're getting ready to upgrade from our original Droids to newer smart phones. Are there some apps, specifically games, that require no data connection to play once you initially download them? I'm wondering if I can download a bunch of games for my daughter to play and use it similar to an ipod before we transfer the phone number and data plan to my new phone.

  • Secret Millionaire - Did anyone notice the date on the checks?

The date on each of the three $100,000 checks the couple gave was 4/31/08. I thought I saw it wrong at first, but noticed it on all three. There are only 30 days in April.... There's no way that's a mistake; I think there has to be some reason for it but I can't think of anything. Any thoughts?

  • Should I buy euros now for a trip next year?

I'm planning a two week trip to England next spring with my wife and daughter. My assumption is that the dollar is going to continue to drop in value up to that point. Should I take a few thousand dollars out of savings to exchange for euros now? Realistically, how much would I be saving if the value of the dollar continues to fall at the same pace it is now?

  • Your opinion please...?

We're driving from Baltimore, MD to Dayton, OH (486 miles) next weekend and can't decide wich car to take. We bought an 07 Chevy Trailblazer last year brand new. Very dependable, very roomy, very expensive on gas. We got a 96 Saturn 4 months ago with only 65K miles on it. Tighter on space, dependable so far, great on gas. I think we can probably fit everything we need (for my wife, 4 month old baby and myself) but should I chance breaking down in the mountains with a baby? It's great for the daily commute but I don't know about this trip. Based on my math, I can get 420 miles per tank from either car (Trailblazer = 21 gallons @ 20 mpg, Saturn = 12 gallons @ 35 mpg) but the Saturn will cost $31 less for a fill-up. Is the risk of breaking down low enough to be worth the $$ savings?

  • What are you going to do with your "Economic Stimulus" rebate check?

The government wants everyone to spend it to help stimulate America's economy...but isn't overspending what got us into this mess in the first place? What if I get a $600 check and buy something for $1000, charging the $400 difference? I'm further in debt than before I got the check. Why not put it in an interest bearing account or pay down current debt (that's what I'm planning to do)? I think the government's "plan" is encouraging further irresponsible spending - which is going to hurt the average joe in the end.

  • Should we cut Britney some slack?

Chris Brown was totally lip syncing too and it was so obvious...just because his dance moves were the sh** do we forgive him? Everybody on the main stage without a handheld mic was lip syncing that night.

  • Approximately how much money should I budget for tolls from Baltimore to Boston on I-95?

I've tried using the toll calculators on various states' turnpike websites but it's not very clear. I know it will cost me $7.00 just to get out of Maryland (Ft. McHenry tunnel and JFK Mem Hwy) but I have no idea after that. Could someone who is familiar with this route help me out?

  • Things to see/do in Boston?

I'm going to Boston for the first time for a "guys weekend" with my dad and brother to catch a Sox/Yankees game in September. What sites, attractions, restaurants, etc. should we be sure to check out while we're there if we only have a day and a half? We're there from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, staying in downtown (South End). Thanks.

  • What type of calling card do I get for a soldier calling the U.S. from Iraq?

A young man at our church is in the Army and he is going to Iraq for 15 months. We want to give him a calling card that he can use to call home; is there a specific type we need to get or will any international card work?

  • Is there a worse song out than "This is Why I'm Hot" by Mims?

It drives me nuts with stupid lyrics like "I'm hot 'cause I'm fly, you ain't 'cause you not, this is why, this is why, this is why I'm hot." The problem is that it's just catchy enough to get stuck in my head all day long (curse you XM Hits station!!!). What song(s) are worse than this one and convince me why.

  • Courtesy Flush?

Do you do it? Why do people flush 4-5 times just to cover up the sound of a fart? It's a bathroom...what kind of noises do you think are going to be made in there? I think it's ridiculous.

  • Nice gesture, but is it enough?

Please read this short article, then answer.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-vick-virg...

With 32 victims, that's $312.50 per family. Do you think he should do more as a rich Virginia Tech alumni? How about $100,000? Or should other celebrities/graduates follow his lead? With many of the victims' relatives flying in from other countries for funerals, how far does $312.50 go?

  • Is being a pregnant bridesmaid a big deal?

My wife's cousin was the maid of honor in our wedding last year. Now my wife is going to be the matron of honor in her cousin's wedding this year. Nobody knows it yet, but my wife will be 7 months pregnant at that point. Her cousin is very concerned with having a "fairy tale" wedding and wants things to look good. She has made commments to my wife like, "You're not going to be pregnant in my wedding are you?" several times. We're planning on telling everyone after the first doctor's visit, but are we being rude by not starting a family until after the wedding or is she being rude by implying that we wait?

  • The "other" N-word - Just how bad is it?

Of course I'm talking about the word nappy. I've heard it before but never identified it as being racist. I thought it was similar to the word "ugly" in that it's not a positive thing but can be used to describe just about anyone, regardless of color. I had a discussion with a co-worker about this (black female), and she said it's highly racist and dates back to the days of slavery. Please help educate an ignorant white guy on the history of this word. Leave link if you have one. Thanks.
