When is it plagiarizing.?
When is it plagiarizing.
Recently I have heard two "lines"on TV, just sentences, in last nights case just nine words. These two "lines" have reached out and grabbed me, spoke to me if you would, and I have considered writing a song( One song for each line) inspired by these lines.
Am I plagiarizing. I guess in the true since of the word I am, What I am trying to ask is this...is there a limit? Years ago I thought there was an amount you could use and it was ok, such as eight bars of a song.
These "lines" are great, written by a true wordsmith. If it is plagiarizing. To use just Nine words, what about the song ,"Turn, Turn, Turn" (I know quotes from the bible are probably considered Trad.)...Ok What about the song "Roses are red" (roses are red my love, flowers are blue...) This is a case of a poem put to music...
So what are your feelings of me taking Nine words I heard on TV and making a song around them? Plagiarizing or not?
