I am pretty busy with school, work, and being a mom. I've been married to a great man for a long time. I volunteer with Girl Scouts, and that is consuming a constantly growing amount of my spare time. You could consider me the typical introverted bean counter. I enjoy my time at home, alone with my family. I crave serenity, stability, and silence, and it is seldom that I ask for anything else. I value education, responsibility, and respect. I despise ignorance and apathy, and any human action that makes the whole species look like lower level life forms or bullies. I try to remember that most people are good, and I can still recall a time when I actually believed that. For the most part, I try to be understanding of everyone, but I think that my sarcasm and cynicism are what show most of the time. Life is short, and it is beautiful. You can’t get lost time back again. You have to enjoy every experience, because you never know if you will have another chance to relive it.
Is it wrong to refer to my ex-husband's parenting approah as a corrupt totalitarian regime in front of my kid?
I've never done that, but he's unbelievably strict and unwilling to compromise with anyone. He's also constantly nagging or grumpy with me. Can anyone who has been in a similar situation give me some advice as to how I could smooth things over with him?
I've been over my issues from the divorce for a while now, and I thought he was too... but one day he just started calling me names, jumping to conclusions, and nagging me to the point of pity for him. He also cut off all telephone and face to face contact, which I'm sure was confusing for the kids.
Things have gotten better since a recent court ruling in my favor a few weeks ago, and I am looking for some ways to keep communication lines open enough so that we could function as a team if there were to be an emergency with one of the kids. We used to have a cordial relationship, at least, and I hate cringing every time I see a text from him.

4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDoes anybody agree that the future looks bright for the US?
It seems to me that we have already sunken this country, and things are going to be bad, eventually, if the course doesn't change drastically. Wouldn't it be better to come together as a nation and prepare for the economy to get worse, than to be arguing about how we got this way in the first place?
13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoPolitical ploys regarding tax cut extension?
Are republicans holding out for the top 2% or incomes over $250,000? Can the tax cuts even be extended for only lower incomes, or are they all tied together (all or nothing)? I have tried and tried to get the details of this issue so that I can form an educated opinion, but I can't find a conclusive answer. Has anyone else been able to find them?
5 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs the United States too diverse to be run by a strong Federal Government?
We are a country with an extremely large land mass (lifestyles are very different between California and Wyoming). We are culturally diverse, and we are monetarily diverse (with regards to cost of living).
Is government control centralized in DC a good thing, or should states have more control over the laws that govern the citizens? Why or why not.

What is with federal employees (Congressmen) not feeling that federal employees (TSA agents) or federal programs (Medicaid) can do a good job?
They have already handed the control of our health care over to private insurance companies, now they want to hire private contractors to take care of our safety. Why the inferiority complex?

3 AnswersCivic Participation1 decade agoDo all husbands take so long to poop?
Just asking in all honesty. It seems like it's this way with all men....
A woman can go to the bathroom and be done (handwashing and all) in less than ten minutes.
But a man seems to have to have 30 minutes with "Bathroom Readers" and JC Whitney to poop.
What's the deal?
Not man bashing...just a question to lighten your day.

15 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoWhat was your experience with Upromise?
I'm looking for personal experiences from people who have used Upromise and opened a 529 Plan...or have researched it and decided not to.
Is your experience good/bad? What are the ups/downs of the program and the 529 Plan?
Any information would be helpful.
