Economics is all about application of wealth for use of mankind. Hence it is a social science. No one in the past studied wealth on the lines chemists studied matter. Chemistry is study of nature, composition, properties, laws and classification of matter. What is this science called that deals with nature, properties, composition, laws and classification of wealth. Economists are not ready to change their course of study. Shall we call this science "Chemistry of Wealth?"

I am M.Sc Agri in Soil Science. I have found that soil fertility has profound influence on socio-economic parameters. Wherever soils are fertile, birth rates are high, illiteracy is high, criminal cases are high, per capita income is low, recovery of bank loans are poor and politicians are more in number. Soil fertlity is curse under Indian context. I want to do Ph.D.taking this line of research. I am told that I am not eligible for Ph.D. in economics as I am not M.A.in economics. Is there any University that allows me do Ph.D. in economics and is there any guide interested to guide me? I am M.Sc.Agri and Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.

Economics is all about application of wealth and hence is a social science. There are no general laws and general properties mentioned in any book on economics. There i no branch of economics that deals with this subject. This is a mirror image of chemistry. Law of Mass Action of chemistry, Law of Conservation and Law of Equilibrium are general laws of wealth.
