How bad is MRSA really?
My right elbow quickly developed a lump on it- picture Popeye's elbows- about the size of an egg. It burst Wednesday night. I went to Emergency room where they said it was an abscess. They cleaned it out and packed it. The next day I went to my Doc. He cleaned and packed it again.
Today the hospital called to say the lab found it to be a MRSA infection. Doc prescribed an antibiotic called Bactrim DS. I should mention that I have severe COPD.
Friends at an online health forum give opinions ranging from "Bactrim works okay" to "Go pick a nice headstone while you still can". Which is it?

I'm just wondering why we don't call Japan by the name the natives use?
8 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoHow to have parents declared incompetent in NJ?
My parents are in their late 80's, desperately need to be in assisted living, but will not cooperate. Mom can barely get around with a walker and isn't strong enough to bathe herself. Dad is better, but has respiratory trouble, and neither of them can remember anything for more than a few minutes. They live on canned soup and yogurt. They don't take their medicine, they forget to pay their bills, and they think everything is ok because they don't remember the daily problems my brother and I fix long distance by phone. They refuse meals on wheels, home health aides and our attempts to make the house handicap accessible.
Money is no problem- they can easily afford a nice assisted living facility near my home (in a different state), but will not leave their house. We (brother and I) have tried to reason with them, but they don't see any problem. Where, in NJ, do we start to take legal steps to care for them? It's heartbreaking.

5 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoWhat exactly is Puerto Rico's legal status? Is it not part of the US?
I don't understand why Puerto Rico has it's own Olympic teams and was treated like a separate country in the World Baseball Tournament. Aren't Puerto Ricans US citizens? Do Puerto Ricans need green cards to move to the US?
