Which states will receive the 20 week extension of unemployment benefits and which will receive 7?
I have looked everywhere for this and cannot find it. My understanding is that the unemployed in states that have higher than 6% unemployment rates will receive the additional 13 weeks of benefits (making a total of 20 additional weeks) and people in other states will receive 7 weeks.
Of course, no mention is made of during what time period the 6% rate would apply to (last month? current rate? etc.). Does anyone know the list of states?
1 AnswerPersonal Finance1 decade agoWhy doesn't Yahoo Answers! add the simple feature to show when and how many times an answer is edited?
Lots of other message boards (Yuku for example) will make a note at the bottom of a message board post that says, "Last edited at (time); edited 'x' times."
I think this is an easy and reasonable feature for Yahoo! Answers to add and would at least prevent some of the annoying answer-changing, etc. Has this been brought up and / or shot down before?
4 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoDo you think Jr. will retaliate on the track despite SAYING the issue is behind them? Where will it happen?
I am not a particular fan of either driver, though I certainly prefer Jr.'s personality to that of Kyle Busch.
I watched the interviews after the race and later this week as the two drivers claim to have put the issue to rest.
But I have to believe that Jr. ... or some Hendrick ally ... is almost REQUIRED to retaliate at some point. Kyle Busch is cocky and arrogant and has many (not all) of the garage gunning for him. Some might say he likes this, and it is possible. But I also think payback is coming.
Darlington is not a good place for payback -- you have to race the track more than you race the other drivers.
Charlotte is a little better, but as fast as it runs, it's not the ideal place to seek revenge. You CAN wreck somebody, as Kyle learned at the hands of his big brother in last year's All-Star Race.
So IF it was to occur, where do you think the payback will come? I'll reveal my prediction after I hear from y'all.
16 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoI recently asked the best, so now: Who are the 3 WORST *off-track* NASCAR driver personalities and why?
I'm not talking about who is a jerk on the track ... (and we all have some opinions on that, I bet): Who do you rank as the 3 worst personalities OFF the track, and why?
19 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoCan Elliott Sadler's season be revived? Was the outside pole a complete surprise?
Okay, it's just one starting position, but ESAD is such a great guy ... it would be awesome if this could be the momentum he needs to turn around a season that is starting to look too much like 2007.
GEM's testing at Phoenix was awful ... they built new cars and both KK and Elliott placed in the top 5.
I'm going to put on the rose-colored glasses and hope for a solid Phoenix run (heck, I'd be happy with a top-10, but overjoyed with a top-5) ... he's always good at restrictor-plate tracks and Dega's next.
Is it too late to revive his season?
15 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoAren't questions that request information on how to commit suicide usually removed by Yahoo! Answers?
The question below is clearly a request for information on how to commit suicide ... I have reported it, but Yahoo! Answers, 24 hours later, seems to have ignored my report. Aren't questions such as these usually removed once reported?
I realize people have different *opinions* about this and you don't have to agree with me that questions such as this should be removed, but I thought this was Yahoo!'s policy.

Obama, Clinton Campaign advisers tied to lending crisis
By Ken Dilanian, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — On the campaign trail, Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama have proposed cracking down on the predatory lending that they say helped fuel the foreclosure crisis.
Both presidential candidates, however, rely on close advisers who had oversight roles at financial institutions that went bust because of subprime loans.
Clinton's campaign manager, Maggie Williams, earned at least $175,000 serving from 2000-07 on the board of Long Island-based Delta Financial, which filed for bankruptcy last year after a history of high-cost loans to low-income borrowers, according to public records.
Obama's national finance chairwoman, Penny Pritzker, was chairwoman of the board of a Chicago-area bank in 1993 when it adopted a subprime business strategy that regulators say ultimately led it to collapse in 2001.
6 AnswersElections1 decade agoCan anyone direct me to well-reputed *Employment* lawyers in the Chapel Hill, NC area? Or a site that reviews?
I have never really needed to seek a lawyer before, so I don't know the best way to sift through laywers to find one that is well-reputed, with a solid history.
I need to find an employment lawyer in or around the Chapel Hill, NC area. The purpose would be twofold: to potentially pursue a wrongful termination lawsuit and secondly, to respond in writing to threats made from my previous employer (they basically sent a letter as a "scare tactic" and I would like to respond).
Money is not really a major factor; I would much rather retain a respected, accomplished lawyer -- the more local, the better.
Is there any site that, in essence, "reviews" lawyers with any reliability?
Thanks for your help.
1 AnswerLaw & Legal1 decade agoDoes anyone know why the Fla St and UNC coaches had a prolonged post-game conversation and what it was about?
After the UNC - Florida State ACC Tournament game, the Seminole coach appeared to have A LOT to say to Roy Williams. The conversation went on forever -- a very unusual amount of time in a typical college basketball game.
It also appeared not to be the most friendly conversation ... but it was hard to tell. Has anyone heard some FACTS (far preferred to guesses) regarding what they might have been talking about? I've been super-curious since the end of the game.
4 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoHow much of a health danger are exhaust fumes from a NASCAR race?
This is related to a question I asked about whether or not Bristol Motor Speedway was likely to enforce the smoking ban that TN passed, which now applies to the stands at Bristol.
Several people responded that I shouldn't be concerned about inhaling smoke when I would be breathing in exhaust fumes for 3+ hours. My question is this: From high up in the stands (I'm somewhere around Row 50), are exhaust fumes (or gas fumes or the rubber from Goodyear tires) truly as dangerous to your health as, say, a bunch of people around you smoking cigarettes?
What if your seats are closer?
5 AnswersRespiratory Diseases1 decade agoNew Bristol Q related to previous smoking question: Are exhaust fumes from Row 46 really that dangerous?
I asked a related smoking at the Bristol, TN question in which I was asking if people thought Bristol's new ban on smoking in the stands would be enforced.
Several people responded that I shouldn't be concerned about inhaling smoke when I would be breathing in exhaust fumes for 3+ hours. My question is this: From high up in the stands (I'm somewhere around Row 50), are exhaust fumes (or gas fumes or the rubber from Goodyear tires) truly as dangerous to your health as, say, a bunch of people around you smoking cigarrettes?
This is a serious question ... if you have sources, that would make your answer a lot stronger. I have a hard time believing that breathing fumes from 50 rows up is dangerous to my health. But I could be wrong.
Also, FWIW, I'm an ex-smoker and I have no beef with smokers; in fact, I think many anti-smoking laws have gone too far (especially the one here on UNC's campus). I respect their legal right to smoke, but in the Bristol stands it is ILLEGAL now.
9 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoIs it against community guidelines for someone to give the exact same answser from two different accounts?
I asked a question to which I received two identical responses from supposedly "different people" (i.e. different screen names). It wasn't a coincidence -- it was several sentences with special symbols, etc. Are you allowed to answer with more than one account?

3 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoI'm headed to Bristol on Sunday from the Asheville area ... I'm having trouble deciding on the route?
I know to take the interstate up into that direction, but I'm very confused as to what is the best route once I get close to Johnson City and Bristol. The recommendations put out by the Speedway don't seem to address arriving from the south, like I am ... can anyone offer me some advice on the best way in (and out?) of Bristol, coming from and going back to Asheville? Last year, I ended up lost on some dark and lonely country roads ... ;-)
Thanks for the help! Go #19!
5 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoI'm going to Bristol Sunday. Does anyone think the new TN non-smoking laws will really be enforced?
Curious as to the opinions on this one ... here's my perspective:
(Background is this: TN just passed a state law that bans smoking in public arenas like Bristol Motor Speedway, among other places. Bristol has already sent a note out to all ticket-holders that the entire stands area will be NO SMOKING).
However, we all know that smoking remains pretty popular among a segment of NASCAR fans and a lot of stadium "rules" aren't really followed a lot of the time.
I don't smoke myself (though I used to) and while I can tolerate it as long as it's not purposely blown in my face, my wife is very, very sensitive (my previous answer to her complaints has been: they have the legal and moral right to smoke: if you don't like it, then you shouldn't come to the race).
However, I am very pleased that this new law has passed, at least for my wife's sake. Do you think security at Bristol will enforce it? Would I cause more harm than good by complaining if someone near us is smoking?
17 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoWhat are the best negotiating tactics to use in buying a new car from a large dealer?
How about a used car? I imagine the best tactics are different for used vs. new.
Because I know the answer would vary greatly based on the car, assume a sticker price of $15,000 - $22,000 for new; $10,000 - $15,000 for used.
I have never really had to negotiate for a car before, and I imagine that the time is coming soon. My father seemed to be outstanding at it ... but that was my impression as a teenager. I'd like to know what the experts (especially dealers!) think works and what doesn't. Thanks in advance!
6 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoWho do you think are the 3 NASCAR drivers with the best off-track personality and why?
By that, I mean that they are willing to interact with fans (e.g. sign autographs), get along well with other drivers, are nice people, have high integrity, etc. I have a favorite who meets all those criteria, but I won't bias the answers by giving it away. =)
I look forward to your opinions!
16 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoRank the following "news organizations" in order from most liberal to most conservative?
CNN, MSNBC, NPR, BBC, Fox News, ABC News, NBC news, CBS news.
I think we all know that Fox is the furthest to the right, but I'm curious as to what the public perception is of the other networks.
As a secondary question, who do you feel is the closest to REALLY being "fair and balanced"?
3 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoDo you believe the U.S. should intervene militarily if a shooting war erupts between Colombia and Venezuela?
Recently, Ecuador and Venezuela (led by leftist governments, including the strongly anti-US Venezuelan "President" Hugo Chavez) have moved tanks and troops to the border with Colombia after Colombia killed a FARC (leftist and terrorist group, as named by the EU and U.S.) leader on Ecuadoran soil.
The U.S. already has a military presence in Colombia, primarily in the form of advisors. Though Colombia's military is considered generally superior to that of its neighbors, Chavez has recently upgraded his Army and Air Force with Sukhoi jets from Russia and other Russian equipment.
Though most of these actions are primarily saber-rattling, accidents often happen and there is always a chance war could erupt.
Should the U.S. help Colombia if war occurs, and to what extent? It is EXTREMELY unlikely the U.S. would commit ground troops to the effort, but anything ranging from intelligence-sharing up to and including air support would likely be considered.
