How do you get tickets to a football match?
I have a friend visiting me in London. I know there are different levels- premiership, etc. I'd like to go to a good match in or around London (within an hour's travelling time), with at least one well-known team playing.
How do I go about purchasing tickets?
8 AnswersEnglish Football1 decade agoWhat's the name of the book of lost things?
It was a book full of entries about things that don't exist anymore, or don't exist the way they used to. Like old customs, sayings, objects that have become obsolete... For example, I remember an entry about gloves, and the different kinds of gloves and which gloves were proper to wear at which time of day, etc. It was really interesting and entertaining, but I can't for the life of me remember the title or author :(
1 AnswerBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhy is my screen/desktop wobbling? Old monitor?
The entire thing is pulsing, almost. Just constantly moving slightly. It hurts my eyes. Is it cos it's an old monitor?
5 AnswersMonitors2 decades agoDo you only need to file a tax return if you work? I'm a full-time student, so there's no reason to, right?
I'm filling out my FAFSA right now, and I didn't work at all last year. So I 'will not file' an income tax return, correct? Thanks :)
5 AnswersUnited States2 decades agoIt's down to two: York or King's College London?
York has two scholarships I can apply for (though obviously that doesn't mean I'll necessarily be awarded them). But King's has a deadline coming up! I wouldn't find out about the scholarships until June, what do I do...? I love the idea of York (I spent a year at Durham and adored it), but who can resist London?
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)2 decades agoWhere should I go to school in the UK?
I'm choosing between York, King's College London, University College London, and Birkbeck. York is the most affordable, obviously. Is KCL as reputable as UCL? Is Birkbeck more of an adult institution? It will be for an MA in English Lit. No random answers, please- Anyone out there familiar with these universities and their departments?

Just curious. Someone said last year, but I thought it would have been much earlier than that, no?
1 AnswerMusic & Music Players2 decades agoDo you agree or disagree with Ayn Rand's ideology?
I just finished 'Atlas Shrugged.' It was my first Rand, and I feel very ambivalent about it. There were many ideas that I felt were fundamentally true, but taken to such an extent that I disagreed completely. At the same time, my gut feeling is that it was a great novel in and of itself. Hmm... Interesting, at any rate.
4 AnswersBooks & Authors2 decades agoAnyone else fed up with all these posters who are obviously students avoiding their English homework?
There is a subsection, you know, under Education & Reference. It's called Homework Help. I don't know what must have gone into me, thinking there could possibly be some real, intelligent dialogue here. I'm tired of questions like 'recurring themes and simbols in keats's ode to a nightingale?' which aren't even properly phrased questions, and have spelling and punctuation errors all over the place! KIDS: do your damn homework. Read the text out loud to yourself, act it out, discuss it with your parents, whatever it takes; but DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK. Have some pride in your own mind.
7 AnswersBooks & Authors2 decades agoAre there any eminent Russian poets who have been translated into English?
A friend and I were talking today, and we realized we knew of no Russian poets, though we were familiar with a few Russian novelists and dramatists. Are there any poets that stand out? I suppose that could also include poets from former Soviet territory... Just curious, cheers.

I've included contact information, education history, employment history, relevant skills, languages, extracurricular activities, and professional references. Anything I could leave out? Or anything else I should include? Cheers.
5 AnswersCareers & Employment2 decades agoWhy is the color off on my monitor?
It was fine yesterday. Today I turn it on and it's rainbow-colored, sort of emanating around the center of the screen. The top left and right are green, and the bottom left and right are purple. The very center of the screen is still the correct colors. Don't tell me I have to fix the video card or something, this is a work computer! gah...

4 AnswersLondon2 decades agoWhat is the role of the 'madrinha' in Brazilian culture?
After getting engaged last month, my friend has asked me to be his 'madrinha.' I know it literally means 'godmother,' but I figure it's a source of support up through the marriage. My question is do madrinhas usually have a physical role in the wedding (like bridesmaids), or is it merely an honor? a symbolic gesture?
