Z, unnecessary letter

I am fascinated by all thing ancient, all things literary, all things linguistic and most things mathematic or fantastic ("fantastic" as in "fantasy", not as in "cool" or "neat-o"). I'm a native speaker of Modern English and have studied many previous incarnations of the language; I'm infatuated with language in and of itself, I pride myself on speaking ordinary Modern English and not some garbled "LOL-spek" or "txttlk". I have examined and become familiar with many other languages, but am not fluent in any but English.
