Will a judge make me sell my house and car if I am ordered to pay child support?
My husband and I have an 8 month old baby. His ex-wife is taking him to court to ask for child support. We can barely pay the bills now. Will a judge make us sell our home/cars to pay his ex child support? I am concerned about keeping a roof over my baby's head.
8 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoCan I ask for a continuance if I don't have a lawyer?
I am going to court for a custody/child support battle but cannot afford a lawyer right now. Can I ask for a continuance? If so, how long do they typically give you to put together your case?

3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow do I seal a glass vase with tissue paper glued to it so it can be hand-washed?
I am covering a glass vase with tissue paper (glued to the outside). Is there a particular type of paint or spray-on sealant that will make my vase hand-washable? I am also interested in selling them so I want to be sure it will work well.
3 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoWHAT BEST APPROACH TO GET A COMPANY TO HOST A HOLIDAY SHOPPING EVENT FOR EMPLOYEES?
We all know that holiday shopping can be difficult for many people, especially men! I am an independent consultant that sells beautiful jewelry that is priced between $12 and $48 (very reasonable prices for holiday gifts). My husband works on a main road that has a bunch of large corporate buildings with thousands of employees in each. He pointed out that I should try to convince these companies to allow me to set up a jewelry table in their lobby or cafeteria one afternoon during the holiday shopping season. I do understand that many companies will not allow this, which I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND, but I do believe that there could be one or two that would allow me to do it as some sort of employee convenience/perk. As an incentive to the company employee who grants me permission to sell my wares, I would offer them free jewelry based on my sales (much like I do for home party hostesses).
Can anyone suggest to me how I should go about approaching these companies, or advise me who would be the best person to get in touch with?

2 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoFirst period after childbirth excessively heavy with clots... normal? (THIS IS NOT LOCHIA)?
I gave birth 9 weeks ago to my first child. I got my period yesterday. At that time, it seemed heavy, but not abnormal. I woke up at 4AM to feed my baby. I changed my super absorbency tampon, put on a pad as well and went back to bed. I woke up at 7AM to feed the baby and as soon as I rolled out of bed I found that I had bled ALL OVER my pajama pants, soaked through my sheets and onto my mattress. When I went to the bathroom I found that I had not only soaked through my super absorbency tampon, but I had soaked a pad to the point that I could've rung it out. I am having a dull lower backache and waves of menstrual cramps. I finally got a call back from my OB and she said to just monitor it and take it easy today (keep my feet up, drink lots of fluids), and if the flow hasn't slowed down in a few hours she can call in some hormone medication to slow it down. I am feeling a bit lightheaded so I will probably call her back sooner than later.
I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar experience... I am feeling very nervous and anxious, even though the doctor said it seems like a normal, and usually miserable first period after childbirth.
*** Please note this is not "lochia"! I am aware of what that is and I haven't had that for over a month. This IS my first postpartum period.

2 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoCan I make my doctor induce me if they suspect cholestasis? I will be 38 weeks tomorrow.?
I developed a severe itching problem over my entire body last week and began doing some research online. I suspected that I had cholestasis and was ordered by my OB to go to Labor & Delivery two nights ago for further testing. My Liver Function Test (LFT) came back with elevated levels, but the cholestasis test takes a week for results (which would bring me almost to my 39th week). They were pretty sure of the cholestasis diagnosis based on my symptoms and liver test results and prescribed me some medication for my liver & an anti-itch medication.
The doctor at Labor & Delivery said to follow-up with my doctor on Monday (tomorrow), but that they probably should induce me next week. With everything I have read, I am very concerned about the well-being of my baby and want them to induce me ASAP. I have a regularly scheduled appointment tomorrow morning and am fearful that my doctor will not induce me.
Can I insist that they induce me ASAP for the safety of my unborn little girl? I have read that the longer you wait, the more dangerous it is, particularly in the last few weeks of pregnancy. I will be 38 weeks tomorrow. I want to know what my rights are just in case they decline my request. I am very worried.
(I have had a great, healthy pregnancy so far, have had low blood pressure, and only gained 20 lbs. Other than the itching, I am not uncomfortable at all - I don't want people to think that I want an induction for my own convenience. I am only afraid of the risks to my baby due to the cholestasis.)
2 AnswersPregnancy1 decade ago37 WEEKS PREGNANT - 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced- Do you think castor oil will work?
My last OB appointment was 3 days ago. During my exam I was told I am 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced. I am 37 weeks pregnant. I have read that castor oil works in many cases, but I am wondering if my current effacement/dilation is good enough for castor oil to even be an option. Any suggestions or experiences?
(NOTE: My doctor said the baby's head is very low and that she looks great so if I want to try any old wives tales to help things along, feel free as long as they seem safe. I have been doing gardening (shoveling, pruning and weeding) all morning trying to get things moving.)
10 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoMY DOG ATE ROTTEN FOOD! Any suggestions?
My husband cleaned out the fridge and threw away some food that had been hidden in the back in tupperware containers for about 3 weeks - including baked beans, tomato sauce and tunafish that was mixed with mayo. He ran outside for a couple minutes and when I walked into the kitchen I found that the dog had eaten it all out of the trash. I am worried! I am definitely anticipating a bunch of diarrhea and stomach upset, but should I be concerned with possible food poisoning?
4 AnswersDogs1 decade agoIs it bad etiquette to open a baby shower gift that was mailed to us before the baby shower?
The couple that sent the gift has RSVP'd that they will be attending our couples baby shower, but I am unsure if it is appropriate for me to open the gifts before the shower or if it would be better for me to wait until the shower. Can someone advise me on this? Thanks!

11 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoCould this be implantation bleeding after recent miscarriage but before menstrual period?
I took Misoprostol on Valentine's Day to remove tissue from a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks 4 days pregnant. Very heartbreaking. I have not had any bleeding for the last 2 weeks and think I ovulated around February 28th, maybe a little after. We BD multiple times (of course, against doctor's recommendation to wait 1 cycle before trying again). Yesterday I had light pink spotting first thing in the morning and the nothing the rest of the day. Today I am having some dark brownish-red spotting/discharge. Maybe implantation bleeding???? What do you ladies think? I am anxious and excited, but afraid to take a HPT since it may give me a false positive. I don't know if I still have hormones in my system that would alter the result. :-(
2 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoWhat is recovery time after taking Cytotec/Misoprostol for a missed miscarriage?
I lost my little one Thursday at 9 weeks pregnant (no heartbeat) and was given Cytotec/Misoprostol yesterday to induce miscarriage since my cervix hadn't opened yet. I couldn't bear the idea of waiting for my body to naturally expel it. I took the meds last night and passed my little baby and the placenta this morning. Aside from being emotionally scarred, I am now wondering what I should expect for recovery time and recovery symptoms. Can anyone tell me about their experience?

6 AnswersPregnancy1 decade ago5 weeks pregnant with light bleeding/spotting... I need advice.?
I am 5 weeks pregnant. I woke up this morning to go to the bathroom and found pinkish to light red discharge on my underwear, and a bit more on the toilet paper when I wiped after urinating. I have kept some toilet paper in my underwear so I can keep a close eye on the color and amount but I am VERY concerned! I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis when I went for my first ultrasound 2 days ago. They said since it is so early in my pregnancy it is best not to treat it immediately and tolerate the symptoms until I am further along. The doctor told me it has been 3 weeks since conception. I have had light, very mild cramping for that entire time and a feeling of bloatedness this morning. How concerned should I be about miscarriage, what should I keep an eye on and what should/shouldn't I be doing? I am trying not to have a panic attack. Thank you in advance...
