  • My husband gets irritated when I read too often and tells me it's a waste of time?

Ok- so a little background... married for 10 years, 2 elementary school aged kids, we haven't got much money, but usually we have a great love life: BUT he gets mad/upset with me pretty often about this one hobby in particular- reading. I have always loved to read books, I have a Kindle (keyboard model, not brand new) that I use pretty often and I get a lot of free books on there. I also discovered fan-fiction a few years ago and I read stories on those kind of websites as well.

I keep our house clean, do all the cooking, dishes and laundry and take the kids to and from school in addition to taking care of their needs. I also do 75% of the office work for the business we own. I am not a lazy freeloader.

Basically, when I've got free time I kick back and read. A lot of the time I even read, ahem, adult themed stories because they spice up our love life. I will admit- I read very often. Daily and for a few hours each day.

If I forget to do something or if I procrastinated and didn't get something done he is so quick to blame the fact that I "would rather read than do something important" and earlier today he told me that he "knew buying that f*&^ing laptop for you was a bad idea." (Just for the record, I have a $200 acer netbook that I stashed money away for months to buy. Money I made when I had a job outside the house. And he has his own laptop for pleasure use also.)

Anyway- I guess I just am looking for advice on what to say to him next time he brings this up. Obviously nothing I've told him in the past shut him up about it... I need some way to get through to him. Unless you all think I do read excessively... I guess I feel like I'm setting a good example for my children by reading often. And my husband will admit that the example I set is a good thing, except he can easily overlook it and complain in the next breath.

Anyone have any good advice for me?

By the way- I really do love him very much. I just sometimes want to push a pillow over his face. (Kidding- I'm not plotting murder. Yet.)

  • What are the white things I see on kids' heads?

Yesterday and today when I was out I saw several children (male and female both) with what looked like a white square of cloth tied onto their heads in such a way that it almost looked as though it was tied around something that was attached to the head. I don't think I'm explaining this very well, but my children asked me what it was and I didn't have an answer for them except that other cultures have different customs than we do. I even tried searching google, but without knowing what it is called I can't find any information!

  • What can I do to make my dog stop this??

I asked a question about my dog, but the answers I got weren't very informative; so I'll go into more detail.

My 1 y/o male dog has been pooping and peeing in the house every night for the past 5 nights in a row. I am a stay home mom so I play with him often, he gets let out to go potty all the time, even when he doesn't have to go I let him out to play. I started feeding him earlier in the day (for the past 3 days) in hopes that he'd be ok for the night- no dice though. Last night he woke me up at 1am, after I had just let him out 2 hours prior- so I put him outside and went back to bed until 5, then let him back in. When I got up around 8 , there was poop and pee on the floor again! Every day I've steam cleaned the spots out really well- I even sprayed vinegar on the spots. I didn't change his food- it's the same food he's been eating since we got him. How do I make him stop?

  • What is going on with my dog???

I woke up to a pile of crap on the floor the last three mornings in a row, after him barely having any accidents for months. My dog is about a year old, and I just can't figure out what would cause him to crap in the house the last 3 days in a row??? I didn't change his food or anything. This morning there was a pee spot too- is it just bad behavior? Does he feel he's not getting enough attention?

  • Feels like a buzzing/shocking in my back- has anyone experienced this?

For the past 2 weeks or so I've been feeling a tingle about 3 or 4 inches below my left shoulder blade. Sometimes it's just an irritating tingling, other times it's almost like an electric shock, like... when you take a wall plate off and touch both the pos. and neg. screws. (Don't ask why I know what that feels like!) Or, it's also similar to having a tens unit hooked up to just that one spot on my back. Has anyone else ever experienced this? If so- did you see a doctor or did it go away? If you saw a doctor, did they know what it was?

    Thanks.

  • Breastfeeding question?

My nipples have gotten much larger from breastfeeding my 11 month old daughter- almost as though they've been stretched out by it. My poor boobs look like they've been sucked into a vacuum! I'm not complaining or anything because I know breastfeeding is the best thing for my daughter, but I'm wondering if this happens to everyone and if it affects intimacy later on? I know right now breastfeeding affects intimacy, but what about after the baby is weaned- did you find that the larger, stretched out nipples and stretch marks on your breasts weren't turning your partner on anymore? I'm kind of sad about their appearance because my husband used to love my small perky breasts, and now after nursing they are stretched out and saggy. Can anyone relate to me or give me any advice they found helpful?

  • It's not MSUD?

My son is 4, sometimes he still has accidents, and the other day on such an occasion I noticed his urine smelled like maple syrup. I looked into MSUD and read that if it hasn't been caught within the first week of life it's generally fatal, but he's been very healthy his whole life. What other things could cause his urine to smell like maple syrup?

  • Is the Mr. Lee pregnancy real or an elaborate hoax??

I recently found a website called www.malepregnancy.com and I'm wondering if this is true. It seems legit because it's linked to a hospital's website, but it's just really hard to believe! Does anyone know if there really is a pregnant Mr. Lee out there and if this is true?
