  • How do I report a real estate agency in Florida?

I am renting a home in Altamonte Springs, FL, I am currently using a realtor as my property manager. When I first applied for the rental property, it was listed for $695, the real estate agent told me that that my credit was too bad, and if I wanted to get the place I would have to pay $750 and put down a $1500 deposit. I was in a rush to find a place so I agreed. The property itself is falling apart, the doorways and windows are not properly sealed, so bugs get in even though I have monthly pest control (you have to this is Florida). When I moved in, in September my stove only had two burners that worked and I didn't get a new one till March. When I first moved in the AC unit didn't work, so they repaired it. My fuse box is outside of the property for anyone to to come and mess with it. The outlet for the dryer does not put out enough volts to power a dryer so I have been hang drying my clothes for almost a year, which is ok but with four children it can be inconvenient sometimes. My kitchen sink had a huge hole underneath it where you could see outside to the dirt, which they repaired with duct tape and ply wood. My bathroom walls have so much water damage that if you put pressure on the walls you can move them. I have reported all these things but they pick and choose what is important. Recently the coils went bad on the AC unit so it had to be replaced, when the technician came out he looked at the filter and said it wasn't really dirty but it needed to be cleaned, the technician handed me the filter and had me clean it. When I signed the receipt it only indicated that the coils needed to be replaced. But the copy the property manager sent me says the coils needed to be replaced due to tenant not cleaning the filters, so now the property manager wants to charge me the balance of $400. The main issue is that the technician never cleaned the filter I did, and the statement that says it is the tenants fault is written in someone else's handwriting in different ink. So it was obviously written after the receipts was completed. The real estate agent has told me that him and the landlord are friends. I feel like they are trying to scam me into paying the bill because the landlord does not have the funds to take care of it. Can I report the real estate agent, if so so how do I do that in Florida?

  • Can my ex husband be charged with kidnapping if he refuses to return my son and I have sole custody?

My ex husband and I got divorced in NC and our custody agreement was also determined in NC per a judge. I have sole custody of my son and and and my ex-husband only has visitations. I recently moved to FL and my ex-husband has been living in NY since our divorce in 2007. My son is 6 and in those 6 years his father has seen him maybe 5 times, he never calls, and he owes over 4000$ in child support. I allowed my son to visit him in NY for the summer, even though according to our separation agreement I don't have to let him go visit him in the summer. I am also currently married but I have been separated from him for 1 year, when my son went to NY his dad started asking him questions about my current husband and because my son told him that his step dad spanked him, now my son's father is saying that is not safe for my son to live with me. But I have not been with my husband for a whole year, and we are separating, and anyhow I was there when he disciplined my son, so there was no abuse, just to verify. Now my ex-husband is refusing to return my son to me. There is no evidence of abuse, and my son is begging me to come home. My ex-husband is applying for the NY PD and he took criminal justice courses which he constitutes as pre law, and he told me that he knows the law and I am not going to get my son back. I went to the police station and said that I can not go and physically remove my son from his house, which he lives at home with his mother, and his mother is the one came to pick up my son, but if I was to go and remove my son I would be charged with kidnapping. What is the fastest way to get my son back?

  • I want to make my own baby food, help please!?

I would like to start making my own baby food, and I was wondering how do I go about preparing fruit? I know that for vegetables I should steam them and then puree them, but what about fruit, how do I soften the fruit? Also I have read that I can freeze the baby food, but how long will it last until it goes bad. I do not want to make too much and then have to throw it away. I also wanted to know if it was okay to puree the meals like spaghetti or rice and beans? Thank you for your time.

  • Will the puppy's umbilical site heal correctly on it's own?

My cousin's dog had puppies today and it seems like when she tried to chew off the umbilical cord she pulled too hard and the cord came completely off. Everything there isn't even a stub left, and it actually took off the first layer of skin around the belly button. Now the puppy has a hole in its abdomen it isn't gushing out blood but it looks ugly. I say they should take the dogs to the vet my husband thinks it will heal on it's own. I don't know what advise to give my cousin.

  • Is it normal to have engorgement when using a breast pump?

I have been pump- feeding my newborn, I hesitate to latch her on because I end up with blisters and bleeding. It seems like I have to pump every 1 1/2 to 2 hours, if not my breast become engorged. Sometimes I pump for 20 minutes and 10 minutes later I have to pump again, I pump about 4 oz every time I pump. Is it normal to have to pump so often? I am concerned because the women in my family have had bad luck with breast feeding. We tend to produce too much milk, my Grandmother was rushed to the hospital because she was so engorged they had to make incisions on both breast to relieve the pressure. Of course that was years ago so maybe they have better solutions now other than slicing someone open. At this point since the baby is still young should just continue to pump and store my milk like I have been?

  • What's the best way to teach our child about race.?

I am mexican and puerto rican but I look white-american my husband is Puerto Rican but he looks Black-american. We never thought to explain to my son, who is 3, the difference because we don't look at ourselves as different. My son came home from pre-school and asked me "Mami why is Papi black?" From there on he just started labeling people as black or white. At first we didn't pay much attention but now he is starting to say things to his dad like "you can't touch my mom because your not white like me". Now we are trying to teach him more about being Latino, and he doesn't really understand. Like I said, to him right now everything is black and white. How do I teach him the difference, without confusing him and with out sounding so ignorant?

  • Should I involve my ex's family in celebrating my child's baptism?

My ex-husband and I split on horrible terms. He doesn't come to see my child ever, maybe in the last 3 years he has seen him 3 times. He doesn't call but maybe once every 4 months. He has told me on several occasions that his family doesn't like me. For what, I don't know, I wasn't the one with girlfriends in Iraq. On top of his infidelity he was physically abusive, and I had to support him and my son while he got drunk on a daily basis. Anyways when my child was born we agreed that his cousins would be the godparents, but after his insults and him putting me down to his family I don't think they should baptize my child. After he told me they don't like me I figured they weren't going to want to be the godparents. To be honest I don't think his family should be there at all considering the fact that I have 8 older brothers who would love nothing more than to break his face for putting his hands on me. I am remarried and I am 3 months pregnant, I don't want to be stressed during this celebration, all I want is to introduce my son in to our faith.

  • Are online social work degrees frowned upon in the job market?

I found a couple of accredited schools online that offer a degree in social work. Only some of the comment about the program weren't very positive, someone commented that online SW degrees aren't taken seriously in the job market. Is this true?

  • Could leg problems be a symptom of liver disease?

My mom has hep C she was on chemo for a while and they took her off because she became anemic. Since she has been off the chemo her legs have gotten really bad. Her circulation is so bad that her legs are black as if she has one huge bruise all over both legs, from the knees down. Unfortunately my mother still smokes, and I feel that, that is a big reason why her legs are so bad. I don't know if I am paranoid but I also noticed a lot of veins on my legs are also getting darker and I don't smoke or drink. In fact I just got out the military so I am in pretty good shape. Whats the chance that this is hereditary and not a symptom. If it isn't hereditary then could I also have liver problems?

  • Is there anyone out there going through chemo therapy?

My mother is going through chemo right now and she is going through a tough time. She wanted to find out if the symptoms she has been feeling are normal. She feels the same symptoms each week, and its frustrating for her because her doctor told her that it would get better. Only in her case she feels the same way each week. She complains about not being to taste her food, and she wanted to know if that will come back when she finishes treatment, and how long does it take to get it back. Someone told her that after she wont start feeling better until one year after she finishes her treatment. Of course she is also very tired, nauseous, headaches and she feels like she has the flu constantly. So we were just curious about how others handle their symptoms, and if you wouldn't mind sharing them. Thank you.

  • What do I expect to encounter when living with someone receiving chemotherapy?

I am about to get out the military, and I have a 2 yr old son, and we are about to move in with my mother who is currently going through chemotherapy. I do have medical experience, but its more OB and post-op recovery. I just wanted to know what kind of signs and symptoms can I expect and behavioral changes should I anticipate. I am already going through a culture shock by getting out the military, and on top of that I have never delt with this type of patient. I know it will be challenging, I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to prepare my son and myself for this long journey?
